## How to value and acquire APED token

Determining a fair value for the APED token is tricky. Like all things, the value of APED is determined by what someone is willing to pay for it, and this in turn is determined by:

* The market value of the assets held by the DAO / the number of APED tokens in circulation.
* Any potential increased value that comes from the DAO's reputation, combined brain power and networks etc

### Assessing DAO assets market value

Its obviously a lot of work to look through the DAO's assets and match them to market prices. Sites like wgmi.io help a great deal with this, but require a 0.1 ETH fee to use the premium wallet valuation feature.

Use the AVG button to get the average price between the collections floor and the individual NFTs trait floor price, and make sure to use the "Refresh all traits" button to refresh this data.

### Why is the value of APED so low on Niftex?

Shortly after the DAOs formation and initial ETH raise, the value of the DAO's assets went up very quickly leading to all sell side liquidity on the Niftex curve being bought up and no-one being willing to sell their APED tokens back to ETH on Niftex at the current curve price.. This lack of sell side liquidity means the price is now "Stuck" to that level on the curve, as anyone selling their APED in this way would be getting a price much lower than the market value (based on the DAO's assets).

This should be considered before deciding to providing APED liquidity to the Niftex curve or selling APED directly on the curve.

## Minting history

### 3rd June 2021

1,000,000 APED tokens were minted when the DAO was created by Kyloren fractionalizing 40 Apes and 1 punk.

= 1,000,000 circulating APED tokens

### 8th August 2021

500,000 tokens were minted and distributed pro-rata to DAO members to help the APED valuation on Niftex.

= 1,500,000 circulating APED tokens

### 21st August 2021

800,000 tokens minted, 300,000 of which sold to raise more ETH for the DAO. 500,000 were kept in reserve by the DAO.

= 1,800,000 circulating APED tokens, 500,000 non circulating tokens.
