We have 2 interns at Mifactori researching on DIY Carbon Capture. - The Question is: Can we come up with an easy to use and built device that would allow everyone to contribute to the cleaning of our atmosphere. The research is well documented and can be accessed via the public README [→ LINK README] of the project.

And the finding was: Indeed. Some of the techniques out there can be trimmed down to a DIY version although with extremly limited impact. The key finding was, that Carbon Capture technologies at all aren't developed very well and it does not look like they will be able to make a substantial contribution in short term even at large.

What the research has shown is that the most powerful form of carbon capture we all can do is political activism! We need to have strong laws that keep the carbon in the ground (capture it before it goes into the atmosphere) and support all kinds of climate friendly research and legislation. That's why we have built these small devices for DIY Carbon Capturing. They always combine a real approach (hardware) with political action! Feel free to play with it! And contribute.

A discussion on this idea and feedback can be given at ... **[We need to figure out a backchannel. This also depends on how we see this post developing in the coming months - what if there is feedback... How about we keep it in the Pad. People can comment. And when there are new iterations we make a new Pad copying everything there and start new. From the old Pad we link to the new version and vise versa]**

## DIY Carbon Capture Project

**Open research and (potential) prototyping of a DIY Carbon Capture solution by Mifactori interns**

###### Body

We have two interns at Mifactori right now. It is two engineering students concerned with climate change. We decided to use our time together to do some research the possibilities of DIY Carbon Capture technologies.

**Carbon Capture technologies aim to capture CO2 from the atmosphere to limit climate change.** There are a couple of ideas and test facilities out there but they are all ot even close to make any difference and all industrial level and expensive.

So this projects explores the current discussion with DIY lenses. The vision or goal is **a small, cheap and simple solution** that can be **built and run everwhere by everyone** on a **household level.** A tool to enable global collective action to limit climate change.

For now this is just a question. And we started the search for an answer. The project is already open. We started with an explorative phase collecting and organizing articles to get and provide an overview of existing approaches and spark ideas for DIY ones.
