# Open Enterprise, mainnet, and setting expectations

In AGP-73 we said we were launching Open Enterprise in Q4 2019. Nobody ever questioned that this was too late or we should be more specific with a date. Only last week I learned that people thought we are delayed and that Devcon should be a hard deadline. We have circulated via a few random chat messages about launching at Devcon as a target that we are aiming for, but “hard deadline” was nothing that was ever communicated as an expectation. But that's fine, we are pushing for Devcon based on feedback.

## On getting to mainnet sooner
Well there could have been ways to get to mainnet sooner, but there would be tradeoffs.

* We could have not upgraded our apps to aragonDS and aragonUI-1.0 after our Rinkeby release, but then the apps would be inconsistent with the core apps.
* We could have not revised our contracts based on early adopter feedback, but then we would have shipped with a sub-optimal UX.
* We could have not integrated with the new Standard Bounties contract, but then we wouldn't be able to benefit from network effects.
* We could have not worked on AGP-19 deliverables in parallal, but then we could have not been approved for a subsequent grant.

Open to hearing how else we could approach accelerating timelines in the future. As a product manager, reducing scope is the best method, and it didn't really seem like a realistic option if we wanted to deliver awesome products or continue working as a Flock team.

## On security audits
Our audit could have started mid-May instead of late-June, if the expectations were clear that a mainnet launch was required during AGP-19. We didn't prioritize security audits until we had demand from 1hive to be on mainnet. The security audit for our apps finished at the end of August and we have been resolving the remaining comments this month, in addition to getting our template audited.

## On AGP-19
The basic criteria we were running with is that winning the following AGP would be evaluated based on the deliverables and not based on Open Enterprise mainnet date. I agree with a lot of the sentiment that it isn't the optimal way to operate a Flock team to just check off deliverables. Definitely interested in changing the rules of the game here - ship, then trust, then freedom? I’m hoping with AGP-73 we can be more flexible as we build trust.
