Social media is broken. We all know it; explicitly, or as a nagging feeling after doom-scrolling another evening away. The companies behind it have grown beyond all reason. And it still isn't enough. They'll say whatever they have to to continue as they have, chasing revenues for shareholders by using every means at their disposal to eke out that last bit of your attention; keep you looking for that minute longer, holding up their golem in pride, for advertisers to fight over. You have no power in this. You are the product.
