5 Questions with JD Leonard

JD Leonard joined us as guest host on episodes 508, 509, 511 and 512. JD is a freelance Drupal architect and developer in Austin, Texas with nearly 19 years of Drupal experience. He focuses on the development and implementation of complex web applications using Drupal and enjoys organizing local meetups and conferences.

What was your first Drupal website?
In 2006 the Rice University Student Association website (unfortunately no longer on Drupal) then featuring textbook classifieds and online comparison shopping. A friend suggested that I consider Drupal and I never looked back!

t was your career before Drupal?
I was a Program Manager at Microsoft working on the Windows Live suite of desktop applications and some of the first Windows 8 apps

What did you go to college for, and where?
studied Computer Science at Rice University in Houston, Texas.

Outside of Drupal, what hobbies do you have?
I love trail running in Austin’s Barton Creek Greenbelt concluding with a cooling dip in Barton Springs. I’m also President of my local neighborhood association, which has opened my eyes to the ways local government works for and against its residents.

What is your favorite meal?
Recently I’ve been on a Hattie B’s Nashville Hot Chicken kick. It helps that it’s a short walk from home!
