--- tags: COMP1010 --- # Feedback Results ## 1.1 Admin and 1.2 Spreadsheets ### Summary * Try Zoom instead of YouTube for more interaction and responsiveness. * Go slower, wait for students to follow. * Larger font size. ### Discussion * Seeing the project we are going to make, before we've made it. | Request | Response | | -------------------- | -------- | | Improve video quality. | The only way I know how to right now, would sacrifice latency. I'm open to suggestions. | | Improve font size. |Yes. Please remind me in live chat if I forget to zoom in on my screen.| | Hard to interact with lecturer. |For this week I'm using YouTube. I'm happy to try Zoom next week and then we can compare/choose. Are there other online systems you've used for lectures which have worked well?| |Lag between chat and livestreams might lead to confusion since while waiting for an answer, it goes on to the next material.|I haven't found a solution to this yet. Maybe we can try the lower-latency version which does sacrifice video quality. Or maybe I'm convinced to try Zoom tomorrow and see how that goes.| | Show the final outcome, so it's easier to follow as we create the spreadsheet | Yes | | Go slower.| Yes. Sorry about that.| |Larger screen. | Is that the screen size? Font size? How much I can fit on the one screen? Screen resolution? I could increase my resolution and fit more on, but then it might make it harder to read for people watching the stream on smaller computer monitors.| |Some shortcuts done without saying.| Sorry about that. For spreadsheets, I'm trying to balance "big picture overview" with teaching more in-depth things. When we move on to python there will be less of this as each step will be explained more thoroughly.| |Give students a chance to give it a go as we go through the lecture.| Yes. Especially as we finished quicker than I expected, that should be possible.| ## 2.1 Python Introduction ### Summary * I will endeavour to go slower. (I need constant reminding about this.) Take time to explain each concept and what's happening. * I will focus on using English words to explain things more. (Eg "integer" rather than "int".)
