{%hackmd theme-dark %} # Ruins ideasguy note ###### tags: `Deprecated` - Ruin name - ruin description - ruin loot - ruin threats Ruins --- - Ruined Seed Vault - An orbital seed vault that has been abandoned and damaged beyond repair. Actual damage can vary from negligible physical damage but disrepair of maintenance and life support systems to near-total destruction. - The seed vault may contain rare seeds, hydroponics equipment, and fertilizers. Some life support equipment may be salvaged. - Occasionally, extremely hardy and dangerous plants (see: kudzu) can escape their containment on the seed vaults and infest the entire facility. - Weed Grow Op - A low concept ruin with like, a bunch of plants trays and those bigass lights and setup to use them, maybe a rasta cap. - Hydroponics equipment and supplies, narcotics and the things to grow them. - A couple potheads? - Rusted Shipyard - A partways destroyed station shipyard, floating around some sort of moon or xenoplanet. While the best of the equipment may be stolen (or still in use) it has a mass amount of slightly refined scrap. - Within the masses of machinery, there are usable parts for ships, and even parts for industrial equipment that may fetch an impressive price when sold in very specific places (DRM LOCKED EQUIPMENT highly illegal) - The current occupants using it as their bootleg shipyard possibly, radiation belts? But most definitely automated scrapping bots, outfitted with shoddy lasers to fend off attackers while it flees. - Ship Graveyard - A gravity anchor, with several derelict ships of varying levels of disrepair in orbit. This is where the broken hulls of the local stretch of space are sent to before an unceremonious death in a shipbreaking facility. - Scrap metal, ship machinery, trace fuel; whatever you can salvage from a standard derelict ship can be found here. - None. The hulls here are deemed worthless by most, and local polities usually have no issue with people doing what they want with them. - Derelict Station - A massive hulking wreck that has clearly been abandoned for a long time. It is unknown why this is so until explored. - Depending on the type of station, large quantities of raw material, consumer goods, research, or machinery could be found, as well as general life support machinery. - The station was abandoned for a reason. A large range of calamities can pose challenge to a salvage crew; romerol zombies, nuclear hellfires, **[REDACTED BY COMSEC]**, the list goes on. Whatever awaits on the station is something on a scale that rendered it totally unrecoverable and irreparable. - Anomalous Hulk - A very large research ship, with floors just as clean as the day as it was built. Inside are crewmates seemingly frozen in time, holding valuable documents from their day-and age. The ship seems to have distorted on the inside. Its hallways no longer run correctly, rooms running into the hull and completely terminating. - Anomalies that deserve to be researched, along with the research already aboard the ship. Augmentations that may disregard the rules of reality may be found in the scarier parts of the ship, along with things that may be used to help your ship- at a steep cost. - Anomalies. A lot of them. Not your bog-standard fire ones. They change gravity, move space, stop you in time. A best bet is standing in one is certain death, with little way to recover your gear. Certain detectors may help in this regard, making the place slightly less hazardous. - Abandoned Biomechanical Factory - Better known by their common name, *living machines*, the factory is a nightmare with pulsating flesh behind maintenance panels and blood flowing through coolant pipes, a grotesque symphony producing a variety of goods: mostly medicines, chemicals, certain textiles, and a plethora of consumer goods. SolGov regulations outlawed these facilities after a lengthy lawsuit over the mental health decline of one of the workers. - Nasty machines producing nasty things, powered by food and oxygen. - **[REDACTED BY COMSEC]** [person dddd]: <> (aka, i cant think of anything. but just imagine the entire place itself is hostile to you.) - Off-limits Biomechanical Research Station - Discussion of **[REDACTED BY COMSEC]** is heavily restricted, only allowed in secure channels. The station itself has one entryway, and it is its only exit. Inside? Likely **[REDACTED BY COMSEC]**. You won't get it anyways. - Highly advanced brain-interfaces, or ship computers using the gene-edited thinkmeat of plenty of nonconsenting humanoids. Weapons that cannot be harnessed on a human, ship, or station level. Sell em! Someone may purchase it if you know the right right right people! - The thing in the absolute center SCREAMS. When it does, every humanoid will collapse in pain, and quickly be incapacitated for a moderate while. This happens on a timer, and a ***specific device*** may allow you to predict them without hassle. Its not the only thing in there. The station itself isn't just alive, but it THINKS. Its as sapient as you. And It wants a way out. - Abandoned Minor SolGov Orbital Office - *"You know what the number one reason people sign up to join the vast SolGov bureaucracy is? It's the clothes. Teenagers see one of those officials walking by and they notice the clothes, and think, 'damn, that guy looks good!' Then they sign up with us so that they can look good too."* - You might find some sensitive documents here, but aside from that there's just paperwork and pens here. Also, some SolGov uniforms that were overlooked while this place was being decommissioned. Neat! - None to speak of. - Nanotrasen Blacksite Outpost - An outpost, unlisted and hidden away from the public with a complex and capable array of sensor jammers. In these hidden sites, Nanotrasen is able to conduct research freely and without care for such silly things as 'regulations' and 'ethics'. You won't find one of these normally. - Sensitive documents, highly valuable research notes, and extremely valuable prototypes can be found here. - A security force of Nanotrasen's finest is stationed at these outposts, just in case someone were to find the blacksite. - Frankenstein's Castle - A large castle of antiquity, converted into a spaceship through some kind of fiendish feat of engineering. It is in gross disrepair. What's left of the experiments of the previous eccentric owner can be found inside. - various experimental medical equipment, research notes and small valuables. - fronkenstien mongurts / rocky but hes wearing a jabroni - Syndicate stockpile - A now-abandoned covert stockpile of weapons and ammunition, built into an asteroid. Most of the stuff seems to have been used up arming insurgencies, but it looks as if there might still be a few things of value left. - Automated disks for producing ammunition, maybe a few battle rifles - possibly has left over ship grade weapons from the corporate war - Cybersun research site - A research facility, likely scuttled due to possible Nanotrasen advances, or maybe just lack of funding. The defenses are still enabled, and the turrets outside HURT. - Can contain some wacky goodies, from medibeam guns, hardsuits and stealth armor to implants and rare chemicals. - contains sensitive documents - The Thing In The Hill - Every civilization has things it can no longer face. This particular macguffin was entombed into a concrete mountain in an attempt to shelter the world from its horrific radioactivity. - Environmental threats in form of radioactivity, active threats in form of maintenance robots. - Exterior of the ruin contains warnings, concrete and concrete accessories, the core contains the macguffin (preliminary idea is a tank). - The Pads - Torn concrete pads sitting alongside a decaying control tower and fueling facility. Dust is all that remains of the builders. - Area is overgrown, but otherwise low threat, maybe a few carps or spiders, but nothing that'd turn off a determined explorer - Control tower has some communications gear, there may be some fuel left in the depot. - Pneumatic Paradise - A monument to a long dead retrofuturistic ideal, the Pneumatic Paradise is a sprawling complex connected by pnuematic tubes. The remnants of labs used to push pneumatics forwards are the main reason to visit it. A lucky explorer could find unique equipment inside them - Main threat is getting lost in the pneumatic tube network (disposals), but some areas may have active security measures (such as turrets) - The labs contain weaponry and construction gear, while the rest of the complex contains salvagable materials and living equipment. --- ### Outposts Populated outposts with people working on them, you can buy/sell things here. - Name - Description - Commodities Sold - Potential Plunder - Potential dangers - Plasmaman Habitat - An orbital habitat with life support systems designed to accommodate plasmamen instead of carbon-based life. - Plasmaman-specific supplies can be bought here in greater quantities than normal. - High-grade life support equipment, much more capable of sustaining a habitable environment for a wider array of life, along with supplies and plasma gas. - Phorsma Sector Coalition Outpost - todo: move this into a factions note or something - An outpost of varying size, usually on the small side. Upwards of a few hundred people may be stationed on the largest of these outposts, though usually only a dozen or so skilled crew at the most are present at any given time. They are used mostly as storage facilities to resupply PSC fleets on the fringes. - The PSC is happy to supply you with food, fuel, and materials, at a """reasonable""" markup. If your reputation with the PSC is particularly high, they may be willing to sell you unique weapons and equipment. - Valuable supplies such as food, fuel, and repair equipment, most notably large amounts of plasma. PSC-unique equipment can also be found here. - Large numbers of armed PSC citizens are willing to defend the outpost. - Bielefeld - We found it. It's real. - Vast quantities of beers, wine and sausages. - Bragging rights - Automated Gat Drone Facility - Formerly a combination arms factory and quartermaster held by Gorlex forces, this facility was abandoned towards the end of the Corporate Wars. Without any soldiers to trade in gear, however, the automated drones have produced a massive stockpile of munitions available for trade. - Trade goods include various independent (Winchesters, Commanders, etc.) and Syndicate firearms, alongside magazines and ammunition for them. Rarer goods include ammunition schematics and specialty ammunition such as hollowpoints or armor-piercing rounds. - Supplies of ammunition and firearms, Syndicate uniforms, replacement parts and materials for manufacturing, ammo and weapon schematics. - Many, MANY heavily-armed drones.
