**Notes and context:**
We need to re-orientate the poster for the Edinburgh Open Research Conference in May. They want posters to be portrait rather than landscape orientation.
We'd like it to be a team decision the overall design style and feel.

Votes for a new approach:
Suggested additions/amendments:
- Add a new bubble for SDEs - covering existing DSH and future TRE
- New bubble for Harbour?
- Update Governance text overall (MD)
- Add new collaborations projects?
- Add some contact info? URL? Email address?
- Mention RSpace and Figshare in the relevant bubbles
> [color=#ff0000] [name=Socrates] how about adding the service URLs for RDSS, RDR, ern.ucl.ac.uk, etc?)
- Add text on “what is a Data Steward” - or does existing text suffice?
Please add any additional suggestions/comments/general notes for everyone!
_Title: the title of your poster._
Research Data Stewardship at UCL
_Abstract: a short description of the poster._
The poster illustrates the data stewardship model adopted by Advanced Research Computing (ARC) at University College London (UCL). UCL's Research Data group is actively engaged in
> [color=#ff0000] [name=Socrates] the institution's full data lifecycle,
supporting research services and collaborating within UCL and with other institutions on various research projects. This poster serves as an exemplary model for institutions in the process of establishing or revising their own data stewardship services, demonstrating how a university can effectively deliver sustainable services and expertise.
The ARC team collaborates on numerous projects across various UCL departments, taking a holistic approach and providing tailored solutions. Simultaneously, we share valuable insights, best practices, experiences, and knowledge with the broader research society. We showcase examples of these projects and the services we offer, including the Research Data Storage Service, Research Data Repository, and Electronic Research Notebook. Some flagship projects we engage in include Third-party datasets, where we assist in organizing and streamlining datasets collected by UCL researchers, and E-child, where our stewards contribute to integrating health, education, and social care information for all children in England.
_Scientific Discipline / Research Area: applicable field of expertise._
Data management, Databases, Data engineering.
_Relevance / Link to RDA: short description of the relevance to RDA / RDA groups._
The research data group acts as a model in progress for the interaction between a group of professional data stewards and the research environment of the university, which is linked to [Professionalising Data Stewardship IG](https://www.rd-alliance.org/groups/professionalising-data-stewardship-ig). Additionally the services provided by the group address challenges related to the [Research Data Architectures in Research Institutions IG](https://www.rd-alliance.org/groups/research-data-architectures-research-institutions-ig)

# Text for the poster
## About
### ARC
The Centre for Advanced Research Computing (ARC) is UCL's research, innovation and service centre for the tools, practices and systems that enable computational science and digital scholarship.
### Research Data
Data Stewards are both researchers and service providers. We support UCL researchers with producing FAIR and responsible data while also conducting original research in data intensive methods.
## Services
Our Galaxy of Services
### RDSS
The Research Data Storage Service (RDSS) is UCL's managed active data store with full back-ups. It is on locally-owned hardware in the UK.
### RDR
The Research Data Repository (RDR), provided by FigShare, is a secure, collaborative, FAIR data repository solution that supports multiple data formats.
### ERN
The Electronic Research Notebook (ERN), provided by RSpace, is a service for recording and sharing notes and data relating to research. It allows users to attach diagrams, images, videos and data visualizations, and supports versioning and time-stamping.
### Globus
Globus is a platform that ensures a secure pathway for transferring very large-scale data between research partners and allows for restarting and rescheduling transfers.
### Education and training
We offer a range of education, training and consultancy services, including data carpentry and fully accredited data curation and engineering courses.
## Projects
### Specific collaborations
#### ECHILD
The Education & Child Health Insights from Linked Data (ECHILD) project links health and education data for all children in England.
### Flagship research
#### ARC Metadata
Produced a common metadata model to enable human and machine interoperability across ARC services.
#### Third party datasets
Streamlining the process for acquiring, managing, sharing and deleting third party datasets for UCL researchers and their collaborators.
### General collaborations
#### CAAL
Central Asian Archeological Landscapes (CAAL) digitises archaeological heritage across central Asia.
#### RRED
Produced the automated recovery evaluation database, Research Recovery Evaluation Database (RRED), in collaboration with the International Literacy Centre.
#### Convalescence
Worked with the MRC Unit for Lifelong Health and Aging to extract and transform hard to access proprietary medical data.
#### Data Reuse
Preparing data packs and data dictionaries to facilitate onward sharing of data at MRC Clinical Trial Unit.
#### MAEASaM
Mapping Africa's Endangered Archaeological Sites and Monuments (MAESaM) identifies and documents endangered archaeological heritage sites across eight African countries.
## Governance
<!-- We are working to improve the governance system within UCL. A flagship of their work is the Information Security Management System (ISMS) -->
We are building ARC’s Information Security Management System (ISMS), a policy and standards framework with the scope to include services, platforms and infrastructure. It covers a range of criticality levels and data sensitivity tiers, and minimises confidentiality, integrity and availability risks associated with a broad range of threats, including but not limited to, cyber attacks by malicious actors.
The ISMS is built on existing UCL security and service management policies and processes, supplemented by additional policies and processes for information governance (IG) and where required by the ISO27001 standard and NHS Data Security and Protection (DSP) Toolkit. The ISMS also protects UCL’s Data Safe Haven (DSH).
The ISMS will include service-related requirements for information security, information governance and user experience, aligned with wider organisational policies and standards wherever possible but developed and governed separately in tune with ARC’s culture.
