# Ethereum Research Improvement Proposal

- + an accompanying discussion venue. There are many options here, but the idea is that it would be a less academic one than current research-oriented venues
- Host a live call
- And actively invite people
- Encouraging questions
- Using visual aids

### Goal
Gather feedback from the community on the idea, draft a proposal, and secure approval from client teams and stakeholders to merge it.

This approach may help prevent last-minute disagreements between client developers and the community, ensuring the highest standards for the Ethereum ecosystem.

### How to proceed?

Select one research topic to start the experiment - eg.`issuance curve debate`

1. **Identify Key Stakeholders** and Community Segments & inform through diverse communication channels, but invite them to one channel to engage on the topic.

It can be one of the below
* Fellowship of Ethereum Magicians
* EthR&D Discord channel for specific discussion or
* ECH Discord channel #eip-cafe (Different thread can be opened for different topics)
* Discourse at EthCatHerders website

2. **Create a topic & announce community meeting** at the venue.
If "GitHub" is selected as a venue, people can create Issue wrt research topic. If Discourse is selected, a topic thread can be added by an individual.
* **Announce a date for the community meeting** on the topic. The community meeting can be scheduled for 30 days after the date of announcement to provide enough time to share about the meeting and invite related parties.
* **Venue for announcement**
* EIP GitHub Issues (If EIP Cafe includes EIPs only and exclude ERCs & RIPs)
* EIPIP GitHub Issues
In long term, we can encourage people to visit these venues frequently and it will even open door to collect research topic on which people would like to organize community calls.
* add "Simplified Summary" or ELI5 summary
* add all available resources (blogpost, video, podcast) for people who want to deep dive and provide constructive feedack

3. **Host a Community call** (Livestream)
- Invite researcher, author, related parties (staking pools), solo stakers, EIP editors, client dev reps. and other interested individuals.
- We can do also AMA kind of event as well. Instead of Reddit, it will be at the live call.

4. Add the meeting disccussion link, recording & the summary back to the FEM page to ensure we have all related discussion at one place.

5. Share the highlights and evaluate the need of a follow up call on that topic 2-3 months down the line.

6. If proposal receives support, the proposer will be encouraged to document the proposal to an EIP and follow the standardization process.

### How to support an existing EIP?

Above process can be followed if the proposal is fairly new.

The community call should be different than ongoing "Breakout Room Meetings" and we need to ensure the participants of the community call must include
- Client Devs
- Testing team reps.
- Concerned parties like Satking Pools/Solo stakers

## How Eth Cat Herders will support EIP Cafe?

- Create a placeholder to discuss research ideas, share thoughts/concerns/support towards a proposal at ECH website/Discord/GitHub.
- Organize, record/livestream, facilitate meeting, share notes
- Engage with client devs, EIP editors to invite them to the meeting
