Create a GitHub account

If you don't already have one, create a GitHub account. The GitHub account is free, so if you have not signed up yet, feel free to sign up, as it is a prerequisite before you can access the Student Developer Pack for Copilot.

Verify your student status on GitHub

Go to the GitHub Student Developer Pack and verify your student status on GitHub. Follow the instructions here.

Be aware that some common reasons for rejection

  • Try to use the academic email from our school when applying
  • Use English to answer all the questions and the proof should also be in English
  • In the public profile, try to make it clear enough. You can refer here for more information.
  • Use a camera from your smartphone or laptop to take a picture of your proof (like an Enrollment Letter)
  • Another proof that can be used is the snapshot of your copy of the receipt of the tuition
  • If you still have problem, try to contact the service via here or go to the discussion board

Install the "GitHub Copilot" and "Github Copilot Labs" extension on the Visual Studio Marketplace.

  • If you use the computer in SC 2004, there will be a compatibility issue. You need to install a version between 1.63 ~ 1.78 so that it will be compatible with the VSCode in SC 2004; follow the below steps:
