# Philippines enforces casino civil servant ban

Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte has ordered Philippine gaming regulator Philippine Amuse & Gaming Corp (Pagcor) to strictly ban government officials from entering casinos, news site Politico reported.

Presidential Decree No. 1067-B prohibits public officials, the Philippine Armed Forces and the Philippine police from entering casinos. Under the provisions of the statute, employees of organizations directly related to government operations are also prohibited from entering casinos or gambling.

Other social groups mentioned in the statute as being excluded from casinos are people under the age of 21 or students from any school, university or university in the Philippines.

"I don't want government people to enter casinos. You're in a low-income government, but you're going to show up at casinos," Duterte's transcript cited on the news website read

Duterte also wants spouses and children of government officials to be included in the casino ban, Politico reported.

At his first ministerial meeting since taking office on June 30, Duterte vowed to prevent the spread of online gambling in the Philippines.
