EDCI, VC & OB Mapping

- What the Commission really cares about in all the nested EDCI properties is learning outcomes/skills. There is legislation in Europe, that for formal and nonformal learning things should be described in terms of learning outcomes and/or skills.
- Europass is two services. CV Library Service where you can upload old fashioned PDFs. Then Digital Credentials Infrastructure. For every Europass user, we create a credentials wallet.
- When users log into europass, they see their library of documents (CVs) and credentials both in the interface.
- We should coordinate on the concept of An Open Badges Assertion of a BadgeClass aligned to a skill means an assertion of that skill
- What entity must do the conversion? If the EDCI service performed the conversion from "hosted" assertion, is the VC issued by EDCI instead of the original issuer? Would this be workable?
- EDCI could create a conversion service that could be run by the original issuers with their own credentials.
- EDCI could create a credential type of "skill". In order to use it, here are the two fields. This could be mapped 1:1 with BadgeClass
- Anthony can do data model work without pre-approval, but can't really do software development
- "Notarized Copy Service" creates a verifiable presentation that includes the original credential without its own proof, and then the presentation is signed by the notarized copy service.
- EBSI (blockchain) SSI diplomas will use XML serialization with special type of wrapper under credentialSubject, with a base64 encoded content.
- So, at an educational data level, they will be pretty harmonized across europe
- If DIDs are the future, the Europass will incorporate them once they come into legislation
- Of course when this goes up to government level the government might kill it
