>In addition to electronic tax returns, the electronic filing and coordination of building applications is increasingly becoming the focus of many cantons in Switzerland. Digitally sustainable projects pose various technical and organizational challenges. In this session we would like to give a deeper insight into the history of the electronic building application in some Swiss cantons, as well as current problems and solutions.

CAMAC: The online tool for building permit procedures based on open source software http://camac.ch/de
> With the aim of increasing efficiency and reducing costs, manual processes are being redesigned and automated in the public sector under the banner of e-government. The canton of URI is also benefiting from this further development. Adfinis SyGroup, in close cooperation with the Office for Spatial Development in Uri, has adapted the web-based CAMAC platform so that the entire process for building permits can be handled centrally and digitally.

Notes:

- Working with cantons, first with Zug then Uri, Schwyz, Bern, .. now a dozen clients all over the country
- The framework was open source from the beginning. Why did we maintain the project as open source? The main argument was that everyone can look into the tool ("jö, alle choi dryy luege" :)
- That some later point in time the project could be adapted by another company was important to customers, especially Bern and Zürich as they have an Open Source strategy in the canton.

- No matter the customer, we try to work with good documentation, we aim to make sure that others work with the solution.
- After the project is complete, it may not necessarily be maintained in the same form as it is developed. We try to secure the best future through enabling other cantons to leverage a range of knowledge and experiences.
- As a company we are very committed to OSS principles. When the customer asks for a closed source tool (e.g. Microsoft is often an issue), we generally don't take on the work.
- When one sees a GitHub project, a user often has a hard time deciding whether this has long-term potential and will stand the test of time. Therefore, our vision is:
