Turing - Accenture meeting | May 2023 === ###### tags: `meeting-notes` :::info - **Meeting link:** [Zoom](https://turing-uk.zoom.us/j/94535222078?pwd=WkxJVkJ5RTIxWWJNaHd1UXNnSTRJZz09&from=addon) - **Date:** 25 May 2023 1:00 - 2:00 PM - **Agenda** 1. Retrospective on last funding call / skills collaboration `15 mins` 2. Review feedback from the project teams `10 mins` 3. Looking forward to our Skills focused partnership `25 mins` 4. AOB `10 mins` 4.1 Skills Policy Awards - contact at Accenture on organisational data readiness - **Participants:** - Mishka (MN) - Sarah (SN) - Vera (VM) - Tony (TZ) - Darren (DSR) - Ray (REP) - **Contact:** Mishka <mnemes@turing.ac.uk> - **Chair:** Mishka - **References:** - TBA ::: ## Agenda & Notes :dart: Retrospective --- ### Turing - great to have the Accenture practitioners to feedback on the materials - Accenture contacts were mostly very responsive - appreciated Accenture taking the lead on scoping out the requirements ### Accenture - [DSR] highlight of partnership - happy with how call was run, process was clear, felt we were in control - good output, but recent reprioritisation means they haven't repurposed for Accenture internal site - plan to look into how they will 'slice and dice' for their specific purposes - lot of interest from their audience - happy to share any changes they make when posted - would like to explore working with Cognition - learning design company - would like to also help with marketing campaign - connect with Sian. Tony can also get involved, interest from FAIR - query if they were too prescriptive but said t :books: Project teams feedback --- Overall extremely positive Common themes: - **Collaboration:** desire for more interaction with other project teams over course of project - **Feedback:** highly valued feedback from Accenture. Desire for even more feedback at different stages of development, and from variety of stakeholders (including end users) - **Constraints/structures:** some would benefit from stricter constraints, e.g. templates, acceptable formats - **Timings:** most expressed desire for additional time, particularly up front where they could meet with other teams, find additional collaborators, arrange contracts, etc. :mag: Looking forward --- ### Innovation call - what if (at Accenture) could help with scoping, reviewing etc; even take part in the scoping workshop - who would we get from the Turing who could represent the Innovation side of things? (Simon, RAMs/TW, Skills) - Could we explore where the gaps are via partnership? and how we can best support - other potential partners: Catapults, Hartree - evaluate what the most useful outputs could be - constraints: funding, timeline ### Digital Twins - more appropriate to explore in 6-9 months time? TRICs + hubs still being set up ### Other ideas - Responsible AI: other themes (maybe later, focus on existing ones first) - draw inspiration from the [Princiciples to practive guide by Accenture](https://www.accenture.com/us-en/insights/artificial-intelligence/responsible-ai-principles-practice#:~:text=Accenture%20helps%20companies%20put%20responsible%20AI%20principles%20into,and%20implementing%20solutions%20across%204%20Responsible%20AI%20pillars) - synthetic data - harms - what are the risks and dangers that feed into responsible AI (gamified or scenario based learning) - connect with Data Hazards; BridgeAI; Turing Commons - sustainable AI  AOB --- ### Skills Policy Awards > Dr Panos Panagiotopoulos is a Senior Lecturer in Information Management (Associate Professor) at Queen Mary University of London and a Fellow of the Alan Turing Institute. His interests are in digital government, social data science and the study of data in organisations. Dr Panagiotopoulos has collaborated with central and local government organisations, including the Better Regulation Executive at BEIS, the Food Standards Agency, regulators in the UK, local authorities and DEFRA on issues of digital transformation and regulatory innovation. He is an associate editor for Government Information Quarterly. > > The project aims to extend the work of the Data Skills Taskforce in the area of organisational data readiness. Through case studies and surveys, the research will explore how organisations approach their assessment of capabilities with data science and AI. Insights from the project will focus on how business leaders and policy makers should boost the data-driven transformation of their organisations. ### Speaker invite DS & AI Educators Programme - making teaching relevant to real world problems - To understand why (most often) training shouldn't be siloed as only theoretical and academical, and why it needs to be useful when applied to real world industry needs - To examine case studies of academia using industry real-world applications in practice - To discuss how to bridge the gap between academia and industry :closed_book: Actions -- ### Turing Team: - [ ] Turing to set up innovation scoping workshop ### Accenture Team: - [ ] To bring WhatIf on board - discussion with Skills, Darren, WhatIF and Jen D - [ ] Dig a bit deeper in the Online Harms ## Misc Notes - Comms campaign - support from both sides <!-- Other important details discussed during the meeting can be entered here. -->
