# Quartus -- Building Tools of Our Own Quartus is building tooling and infrastructure for DAOs, on Urbit. Our tooling will empower DAOs to own their toolstack and thereby own their data and build true autonomy. Freed from the ill-fitting, ad hoc arrangement of Web3 skinned, centralized, Web2.0 tools they currently use, DAOs will realize their untapped potential. Urbit's Web3-first operating environment is novel and its commercial applications are beginning to be explored by companies like Quartus. As we build tools that existing business models will use, we will also investigate emergent business models (e.g. patronage plus, knowledge markets, value networks). Quartus will have exposure to other Urbit endeavors. We provide custom tooling for early adopters of Urbit who are building businesses and communities. In addition to direct compensation for development work, Quartus takes an ownership stake in the networks that are emerging. As these communities grow and mature, Quartus will grow with them. These opportunities are made possible by the permissionless, open source, peer-to-peer, decentralized environment of Urbit. Quartus is well known for its development activites on Urbit and is thus well positioned to find and capture new value creation modalities in this space, however they're presented to us. - Quartus is building infrastructure and tooling for DAOs on Urbit.
