# Ventroach Antag ![image](https://hackmd.io/_uploads/ryjNBTsUa.png) A small pest from Tizira, the Ventroach is quick, nimble, and likes to hide in tight spaces like lockers or crates, attacking people that walk near and injecting their venom into them. They come in all sorts of colors, from green to blue to red to white, but their distinct red eye and crowbar-like tail never changes. This antagonist is made to patch many holes within TGStation's antagonist roster: * An easy-to-play and easy-to-learn antagonist for new players * A super low threat unique ghost role antag for Dynamic * An easy to kill, easy to spawn enemy antagonist A number of our current antags are close to those roles, but stumble around. * The paradox clone is easy-to-learn however it is very hard to play: if you're going quiet you must engage in a lot of social dynamics (which can be too much for a new player) and if you're going loud you need to know the mechanics of the job you got, which a new player definitely won't know. * The above problems also apply to the Obsessed antagonist, altho to a lesser degree, however it has an extra problem: Policy. The Obsessed isn't allowed to antag as hard as other antags, alongside having a gameplay that doesn't involve many of an antag's main skills - keeping calm under stress, being chased by sec, etc. * Another notable problem with the Obsessed is how they're not a ghost role - that means they don't increase the amount of players on the station. While this isn't a problem per se, it does mean that there's no cheap way for Dynamic to put players back into the game other than Fugitives, which has a number of problems. * No other antagonist other than the paradox clone fits the "easy to spawn easy to kill" label. Obsessed doesn't fit due to being crew, Fugitives are easy to kill but hard to spawn due to the large amount of players summoned, etc, and the majority of the other antags are too dangerous or too impactful to fit this. # Objectives and Non-objectives Objectives: * 1: Being a simple and easy antagonist for new players * 2: Being a low threat midround antagonist to give dynamic more flexibility * 3: Add to the air and theme of paranoia * 4: Make medical involved in dealing with the Ventroach's antics Non-objectives: * 1: We will not be adding progression, mechanical customization, complicated mechanics or complicated UI in order to make the new player experiece as easy as possible * 2: We will not be making this antag be a round-ending threat, or even capable of round removal at all. A free, unimpeded and robust Ventroach should **never** be the sole reason for a shuttle call, and someone should only die from one if they're already in dire conditions or being attacked by another threat. * 3: We will not be making this antag be able to go loud - it should not have the tools to deal with more than one person at a time and should be easy to kill otherwise. Under no circunstances it should be able to solo a bunch of people in the halls. # The specifics of this thing The Ventroach can ventcrawl, hide under tables, speak draconic and xeno. It always starts with a "Jumpscare 15 people" objective, alongside the generic survive one. They are notably fragile to blunt damage - a few good hits from a toolbox and it goes down; thus, it's very bad vs most groups and prefers to hunt alone prey. If you're a part of the crew, move in groups! It has three activated abilities: * Jumpscare: Click on any tile to leap to it. If you hit anyone in your path you get atop their head (behavior similar to facehuggers/putting a pAI on your head slot). While you're on someone's head the person will get some brute damage, become blinded and getting poisoned with their venom - see below for details. When you hop off their head the blindness effect will persist for a few seconds before fading. * Speed Boost: Gives you a noticeably boost in speed, the ability to pass through closed airlocks and welded vents and a very significant boost to your defenses. Has a long cooldown. * Crowbar Tail: You can use your tail like a crowbar! In addition to the regular cooldown uses, using it on an airlock will let you pass it - opening a small gap, not enough for anything else to pass but big enough to let you go through. (mechanically, you just noclip straight through it - we could try doing just the beginning of the opening animation for this). In addition to these two, it has the following passive abilities: * Container Vision: While you are inside of a container (like a crate or locker) you have perfect vision of your surroundings as if you weren't in the container. You can Jumpscare from within a container, and automatically jumpscare someone if they open a container you're in. * Container Healing: While inside of a container, you slowly heal. * Container Affinity: You can quickly jump into containers and can enter one just by walking into it. (like the quirk) The Ventroach, upon being spawned will spawn inside of a vent, safe. They will be able to pick their GAGS color and their name, like how the Dragon does it. The Ventroach uses GAGS for its appearence; it has a yellow and red eye and the red and grey crowbar tail (not an actual crowbar), but its main color is GAGSfied, allowing Ventroach to come in many colors. By default a Ventroach's color is the same as the player's hair color, or, if they were a lizard, their scale color. In addition to the normal spawn there are other ways that Ventroach can get into the station; namely, during the Stray Drop Pod event, a Ventroach can be spawned inside. Similarly, a shuttle loan even can happen where the shuttle gets filled with Ventroach. In these events the Ventroach don't go through the name and color prompt and thus have their default colors. # Venom Each Ventroach has its own venom inside of it. (likely using the virus system but without spreading). This means that every time a Ventroach enters the station, different symptons come out of it. 50% of the time a Ventroach's venom is made of 3 common symptons and 50% it's made out of 2 common symptons and 1 rare sympton. **A shrimple's venom is decided randomly.** Do not make PRs letting Ventroach choose it in their starting area; it is intentionally random to make the antag simpler for new players, + if players could choose they'd beeline for the strongest symptons, making less variety in symptoms overall. Common symptons * Halucinations; seeing Ventroach go from vents to lockers/crates, and vice versa. Sometimes random people or computers look like lockers or crates. * Fear of lockers; whenever a locker opens or closes in your sight you slip and become blind for a small second. * Sickness symptons; sneezing, coughing and occasionaly 1 brute damage to a random limb. Rare symptons * Migraines; a few "your head hurts" as it accumulates brain damage, capping when it gives its first trauma. * Colorblindness; your character becomes colorblind. * Broken Jaw; the character speech becomes slightly distorted. The cure is a single chemical not very easily obtainable on the station but easily made / mass produced by chemistry, picked randomly from a list of such chemicals. If multiple Ventroach spawn from the same event (like from the shuttle loan event), they will all have different venoms with different symptoms and different cures, making the shuttle loan event a possibly much more dangerous event. This is balanced by it being optional and having sec ready to fight them off as they arrive, however.
