Yes, the research question is how the relationship between geographic location, vote share, and incumbency affects the win probability for Democratic and Republican candidates.

However the goal of the report isn't clear since they question how young people affect the win probability, but they talk about how they're going to assess things besides the age of voters. The relationship between the motivation and proposed research question isn't explicitly clear.

No, the introduction doesn't provide much background information on elections or politics in the United States. The introduction jumps straight to the research question and hypothesis and doesn't have much for information on the subject of elections. We were able to knit the Rmd file and reproduce the pdf! It also was the same.
