Hey everyone! Here are some reminders and resources to close out our first week of iOS lessons 😊

Prework and Application Reminder

The deadline for applying for the course and submitting your prework assignment is DAY xx/xx at 11:59PM. Tell your friends that it’s not too late to sign-up!

Flix Assignment

The deadline for Flix Part 1 is DAY xx/xx at 11:59PM. All assignment details can be found on the course portal which can only be accessed if your prework has been accepted and you’ve been admitted into the course.

Assignment Help

We have several resources for you to use if you have questions about the assignment, Swift, or XCode in general!

  • Discussion board: Post questions here and other Codepath team members will help you out!
  • Office hours: There will be office hours DAY xx/xx from TIME - TIME at the Courtyard Study Lounge patio.
  • Facebook Page/Slack Channel (or other social platform for students): We have an official CodePath at UCI page on Facebook! You can shoot us a message through these means as well. Give us a like while you’re at it! 👍

Swift Syntax Guide

Attached to this email is a Swift syntax guide in the form of an XCode playground. With this you can understand more about how variables, arrays, classes, etc. work in Swift. Once you have the file opened in XCode, you can see the output from the code snippets by going to Editor > Run Playground.

Other Resources?

Example: The School of ICS offers MacBook rentals through the Kay Family Foundation Innovation Lab. MacBooks can be rented out a week at a time. This option is only available for ICS students.
The Multimedia Resource Center also checks out MacBooks to any student, including those not in ICS. MacBook rentals from MRC are 3 hours at a time. More information here.
Additionally, the classroom for the Thursday session may change, so keep an eye out for an email regarding that. Thank you to those who did bear with us today in spite of our technical difficulties!

CodePath Roles

Tech Fellows Overall Responsibility Responsible for running the course and provide the first line of technical support to students.
