# Measurable ## Release History ### Version 1.2 Add Additional Imperial Unit Options Add Prefix / Suffix for Measurements Add the ability to copy container defaults to other containers Add Icons to Buttons Add Text Position Tweak on all length measurements Fixes: Adding an angle with an existing empty causes error Face area calculations were off when not set to meters ### Version 1.1 Container is scaled up from selected object ### Version 1.0 Initial Release ## Usage ### Create a Container - Select an object that should be measured. - In the N-Panel go to the 'Measurable' Tab - In the 'Container Properties' subpanel, Click 'Add Measurement Container to Selected' - This will create an object parented to the selected object to hold measurements When a container is selected, this subpanel will show a list of all measurements added to the selected panel. ### Create a Measurement ## Basic Process - Select the reference objects depending on the measurement to add - Select the container to add the measurments to - Click the measurement to add - Open the operator 'redo' panel to tweak major settings _See the "Measurment Specifics" section for instructions for specific measurments._ ### Shared Measurment Settings **Some settings can be changed for a whole container at one time.** - Select a container - Under 'Shared Measurment Settings' - Adjust settings and all measurments in the selected container with that setting will be updated. ## Create Overlay Material - This button creates a material of the selected color that will not be affected by light or shadow (a shadeless material) to use for your measurements. ### Individual Measurment Settings **All other settings for a measurement are set in this panel** - Select a container - Select a measurement to edit in the Container subpanel - Under 'Individual Measurment Settings' - Adjust settings for the specific measurement. ## Override Shared Settings - In the 'Individual Measurment Settings', set 'Do not share settings" to 1 - All settings will show in the subpanel and will not change when shared settings are changed - To return a measurement to shared settings, set 'Do not share settings" to 0 and click 'Resync Shared Settings' ### Extra Tools ## Copy Container Settings - Select 2 or more containers with the active container as the source container. - Click this button to copy shared settings from the source to all other selected container objects. ## Add Line Style to Active Object - Select the object needing an outline style - Click the button and a LineArt object will be created with a Line Art Modifier pointing to the current object - Adjust the LineArt edge settings under the Modifier Panel of the new LineArt object. ## Add Empty at 3 point Circle Center - In Edit mode select 3 points of a mesh OR In Object mode select 3 objects - Click the button to add an empty at the center of a circle where the 3 points lie on its circumference. This is good for finding the centerpoint of a partial radius where the whole circle is not known. ## Add Empty at Averate Point - In Edit mode select multiple points of a mesh **OR** In Object mode select multiple objects - Click the button to add an empty at the center of a circle where the 3 points lie on its circumference. This is good for finding the centerpoint of a partial radius where the whole circle is not known. --- ## Measurment Specifics ### 2 Objects Length 1. In Edit mode select 2 vertices **OR** In Object mode select 2 objects for the measurment 2. In Object mode add the Container as the active selection 3. Click the button ### Circle Measurments 1. In Edit Mode select 3 vertices on the circle edge then In Object mode make sure the mesh is selected **or** Select an object as centerpoint 2. Add the Container as the active selection 3. Click this Button 4. The empty controlling the 'on circumference' point is selected ### Angle 1. In Edit mode select 1 vertex **or** In Object mode select an object as the pivot point 2. In Object mode add the Container as the active selection 3. Click this Button 4. The side angle targets will be created 5. The side angle targets will be selected ### 2 Vertex Length 1. In Edit mode, select 2 vertices to measure a distance between 2. In Object mode select the mesh object to measure 3. Add the Measurement Container as the active selection 4. Click this Button ### Edge Length 1. In Edit mode, select an edge(or multiple) to measure 2. In Object mode select the mesh object to measure 3. Add the Measurement Container as the active selection 4. Click this Button ### Face Area 1. In Edit mode, select a face(or multiple) to measure 2. In Object mode select the mesh object to measure 3. Add the Measurement Container as the active selection 4. Click this Button 5. The Anchor empty for the text that is created will be the active selection ### Text Block 1. In Object mode select an object for the text block anchor 1. If the object is an empty it will be used for the text anchor 2. If the object is not an empty, one will be created at the selected object's location as the anchor. 2. Add the Measurement Container as the active selection 3. Click this Button 4. The Anchor empty that is created or used will be the active selection ### Text Callout 1. In Object mode select an object for the callout arrow target 1. If the object is an empty it will be used for the arrow anchor 2. If the object is not an empty, one will be created at the selected object's location as the anchor. 2. Add the Measurement Container as the active selection 3. Click this Button 4. The Anchor empty for the text that is created will be the active selection ### Line 1. In Object mode select 2 objects for the line endpoints 2. Add the Measurement Container as the active selection 3. Click this Button ### Centerpoint 1. In Object mode select an object for the centerpoint 2. Add the Measurement Container as the active selection 3. Click this Button
