Lessons Learned - T2 Budget

This was requested in the DAO <-> TNL Call. I'm not sure if we need a forum post, but we should document lessons learned from the T2 Budget creation.

Please include your thoughts asynchronously. The secretary can compile this into a doc or post if needed.

What Worked

  • The collaborative google doc.
  • The synchronous calls.
  • Shared knowledge and insights about previous terms on allocation and spend, conflicts of interest, and interactions with other organizations

What Didn't Work

  • Need to ensure no copy/paste errors.
  • Images in the proposal
    • unclear what the alternative is. Are there plugins for the forum that can handle 10+ columns?
  • Need to work on what is WIP (work in progress) and thus not accessible to the public to final outcome
    • maybe have "[WIP] +" to all internal documents with the expectation these are shared on NAME basis only., ie no general sharing of links

Suggested process improvements

  • There should be a standardize budget post with tables and definitive bottom-line amounts for each currency. I think we got close to this, but inconsistencies were created when we migrated from the draft to the public docs. (coltron.eth)

  • Each working group needs to have summary in plain text like this:

    • USDC: XXX,XXX
    • ETH: X.X
    • ENS: X,XXX
    • The post that summarizes the all budget should also include the final tally requested from the DAO

  • Final request should also account for rollover funds

  • Uploading to github is not accessible to stewards without any prior experience with Github. An automated process would be convienient, but I personally don't have a technical solution to suggest. (coltron.eth)

  • An end of term summary that can be used as a baseleine for the next term would be helpful to carry over quantitative and qualitative info
