Prototype! :::info The goal of this phase is to define & materialize 3 relevant product proposals according to the subject given. ::: :::danger Your prototype must be a physical object : diagrams, images, drawings and 3D files etc. will not be considered as prototypes. ::: ## Define & prototype 3 proposals ### Proposal n°1 : Bag Handle ##### Actors :::warning - BY WHO? We are students and we want to help homeless people - FOR WHOM? homeless people and elder people - WITH WHOM? Shelter communities & supermarkets. ::: ##### Context :::warning - WHY? Because homeless people always have to carry their life with them, which can be heavy and damaging to their hands. - WHEN? When they move their bags around. - WHERE? In the streets moving going to the shelters ::: ##### Features :::warning - WHAT? These are bag handles that homeless people can put into their hands when carrying their heavy bags. - HOW? The homeless person puts the handle into their hand, which protects it from friction when carrying the bags. The handles are small and can be kept easily in pockets etc. ::: ##### Usage scenario Describe use cases How will users access your service? Describe scenario of utilisation, and add a drawing for each steps : :::warning **Initial context:** The homeless person has all of his things in bags that he has to carry around when he has to move. Homeless people will usually move around, even for short distances - whether it is because they are forced to or to find a more confortable location. ::: :::warning **Action 1:** ![](https://i.imgur.com/zTbiySM.jpg) The homeless person puts all of his stuff in bags that he carries around. ::: :::warning **Action 2:** ![](https://i.imgur.com/wNdhxJE.jpg) The homesless person carries these bags around, they are heavy. ::: :::warning **Action 3:** !![](https://i.imgur.com/uln6DAC.jpg) The homeless person's hands become damaged from holding the heavy bags. ::: :::warning **Resolving situation:** ![](https://i.imgur.com/juynk67.jpg) ![](https://i.imgur.com/Axfr5gI.jpg) The homeless person is able to put the bag handle into his hand, and then hold the bags with it - his hands are protected from damaging friction. ::: ##### Benchmark List concurrents and relative projects and describe how they relate or differentiate to your project :::warning * In China - Food Carrying Handle (https://www.alibaba.com/product-detail/Bag-Accessories-16cm-Plastic-Luggage-Handle_60715350248.html?spm=a2700.galleryofferlist.0.0.316e4e5cmZFwS1&s=p) * Grey Dog Imports - Grocery Bag holder (http://www.greydogimports.ca/12-pack-silicone-grocery-bag-holder-handles-magnoloran-multifunctional-candy-color-handle-carrier-tool-shopping-bag-holder-with-key-chain-b07dnxcbyw.html) Both these projects show that, so far, the technology has been used for people going grocery shopping - probably to not get hurt when bringing the heavy grocery bags to their car. The solution is solving the same issue as us - but the customer is different. * Wall Bag Holder https://makeit-loveit.com/grocery-bag-holder This bag holder is put straight on the wall. We can grab inspiration from it in the way that we could think of such a use in the shelters. As in the homeless people would attach their bags on such an item found already in the shelters. ::: ##### Ressources We are expecting existing tutorials that can help you to materialize your proposal. We are students and we want to help homeless people - FOR WHOM? Homeless people - WITH WHOM? Partnership with State / Government ::: ##### Context :::warning - WHY? Homeless people need food and this is a way to provide their own vegetables for free by growing them. Plus it would give the streets a good visual sense of 'gardening' - WHEN? They'll have to take care of it everyday by watering vegetables - WHERE? In public parks, gardens, next to trees ::: ##### Features :::warning - WHAT? Building farming boxes that would be found in the shelters. These boxes will be filled with a sponge-like material at the bottom to keep the water, and then filled with soil. The homeless people in the shelter will be able to plant grains and grow their own food for the shelter. - HOW? The state would provide these boxes for homeless to grow their 'farm'. Distribute them in shelter facilities. ::: ##### Usage scenario Describe use cases How will users access your service? Describe scenario of utilisation, and add a drawing for each steps : :::warning **Initial context:** ![](https://i.imgur.com/VjDuOBb.jpg) Homeless people don't usually have the means to buy food so they just have to wait until someone provides them the money or actual food. The problem is that most of the times is not actual healthy food ::: :::warning **Action 1:** ![](https://i.imgur.com/pYdey2L.jpg) Homeless person waiting for someone to give him money ::: :::warning **Action 2:** ![](https://i.imgur.com/krKVAxH.jpg) Someone gives money to this homeless ::: :::warning **Action 3:** ![](https://i.imgur.com/LJOGT5g.jpg) The homeless takes the money and goes to buy some food ::: :::warning **Resolving situation:** ![](https://i.imgur.com/q9riNNu.jpg) By having their plant growing boxes, the homeless can actually take care of their own food and eat (for free) whenever they wants real food / healthy food in the shelter. At the same time he has an occupation and something to care about. ::: ##### Benchmark List concurrents and relative projects and describe how they relate or differentiate to your project :::warning * "Portable Farms", https://portablefarms.com/, company that sells portable stuctures to grow your vegetables indoors * Automatic Home Growing Box https://www.getleaf.co/ This project uses a more high-tech approach to our solution. It is also connected to an applicaiton on the phone. Our project has to use low-tech and be for shelters. Hence, we can get inspiration from this by looking at the design and possible uses, but not the actual high-tech software. * Oak Slate Design Vegetable Box https://www.amazon.co.uk/Oak-Slate-Design-Handmade-Natural/dp/B00ECGW5CO/ref=lp_3469851031_1_1?srs=3469851031&ie=UTF8&qid=1575038411&sr=8-1 This is a vegetable box that one can modulate himself and even write on it. We can grab inspiration in term of customization of the actual box. However, our project is for a bigger box which would be used to grow a more substantial amount of vegetables. ::: ##### Ressources We are expecting existing tutorials that can help you to materialize your proposal. We are students - FOR WHOM? Homeless people in shelters - WITH WHOM? In collaboration with shelters ::: ##### Context :::warning - WHY? We want to give more privacy to homeless people. - WHEN? During their sleep and time at the shelters - WHERE? In the shelters, or even outside in the street - if allowed. ::: ##### Features :::warning - WHAT? We will be offering a brick. The bricks will be able to be stacked onto themselves to create a wall and and a private space for the homless. - HOW? Multiple bricks are stacked onto eachother in the desired manner. ::: ##### Usage scenario Describe use cases How will users access your service? Describe scenario of utilisation, and add a drawing for each steps : :::warning **Initial context:** ![](https://i.imgur.com/bYLl1tc.jpg) The homeless person in the shelter (or outside) lacks privacy. ::: :::warning **Action 1:** !![](https://i.imgur.com/O84r1Wc.jpg) The homeless person arrives at the shelter, is offered a bed. ::: :::warning **Action 2:** ![](https://i.imgur.com/zWPzTVM.jpg) The homeless person drops his belongings around the bed for the night. ::: :::warning **Action 3:** ![](https://i.imgur.com/y6AyDDo.jpg) The homeless person sleeps at night, but might be worried of theft. ::: :::warning **Resolving situation:** ![](https://i.imgur.com/PK0DjLV.jpg) The homeless person builds himself a private space with the bricks, and is able to sleep at night in a private space where he can feel more confortable. ::: ##### Benchmark List concurrents and relative projects and describe how they relate or differentiate to your project :::warning * Fast house building using recycled bricks (https://www.archdaily.com/869926/this-house-was-built-in-5-days-using-recycled-plastic-bricks) * Re-construction of a war zone with recycled bricks (https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S187661021101438X) What these sources show is that there is the possibility of building temporary homes with recycled bricks. For us this means that building a small private space in the shelter or in the street, also made of bricks, would be possible and feasible. * Everblock Systems - Creation of blocks https://www.everblocksystems.com/ This is an interesting project as these people will create modular block (similar to lego) that people can stack together to create new private spaces. However, this is different from us as these blocks are not insulated for temperature and sound. ::: ##### Ressources We are expecting existing tutorials that can help you to materialize your proposal. You can search on youtube.com, instructables.com, thingiverse.com, etc. :::warning * DIY How to Build a Brick Wall (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ExltDReEdno) * How bricks are made (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GEvoXuFKSA0) These resources have taught us first the design of bricks, which is important to know how bricks can stay so sturdy and strong. Then we learned about the ways to stack them together to build a strong foundation of walls. * Building a brick out of recycled plastic (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gwjhqXaLDs4) This video inspired our group on the choice of the material for our bricks / lego. Since we're building somenthing from scratch, why not doing it while saving the planet? Or at least try not to compromise the future. So using plastic waste from oceans could be very interesting. ::: *** ##### Prototype description :::danger Your prototype must be **a physical object** : images, drawings, diagrams and 3D files will not be considered as prototypes ::: Describe here the materials and tools you've used to build your prototype. Test! :::info The goal of this phase is to improve your prototypes using end-users feedback. ::: :::danger **Negative user feedback doesn't means your proposal is bad** : do not give up and analyse what are the pain points to solve in a new version. ::: ## Test and iterate 3 proposals ### 1. Test your 3 prototypes --- #### User 1 :::warning - Kiki - 53 years old - Homeless person - None - None - Whole group, in the street close to Gare d'Austerlitz - 30 minutes ::: ##### Prototype 1 : user feedback :::warning | Postive | Neutral | Negative | | --------| --------| --------| | It is useful because I carry a lot of bags around and I move around a lot, so my hands get hurt.| If I don't have one, I can figure it out myself, it isn't something major.| This one is not very confortable, with a lot of heavy bags it'll get more uncomfortable.| The user thought it was a good idea, but wasn't so excited about it. She also says that she could lose it easily. Make it more comfortable on the handle. ::: ##### Prototype 2 : user feedback :::warning | Postive | Neutral | Negative | | --------| --------| --------| | I like it because it gives flexibility on what I would want to plant and eat - I can plant what I want. If I had it in a shelter I would probably want to stay there longer or go there more often.| None| The material of the box isn't great because it could get soaked in the water used for the plants.| She liked this idea the most. Stronger and more resistant material ::: ##### Prototype 3 : user feedback :::warning | Postive | Neutral | Negative | | --------| --------| --------| | Awesome idea because we don't have any privacy in the streets and in shelters also. Building it in the way I want gives me a sense of freedom. | None| I am worried about the strength of this, whether or not it'll fall during the evening.| She also thought that this would be a great addition to shelters. It would make her want to go to shelters more often. Better way to put the bricks together and maybe the material too (not cardboard). ::: *** #### User 2 :::warning - Cecile - 78 years old - Senior - Cecile has done voluntary work in homeless shelter all her life, and in different countries. She not only knows the homeless and their needs, but also the shelters and the opportunities there. - 1 hour ::: ##### Prototype 1 : user feedback :::warning | Postive | Neutral | Negative | | --------| --------| --------| | This object could be used by anyone, not just homeless people. It is small and easy to take anywhere with me.| She asked where would these be distributed to the homeless? In shelter? Who would give them to the shelters?| It needs to be long-lasting, homeless people move around a lot and if it is not durable, it'll break too fast for them to enjoy it.| She said it was a great idea for anyone. Perhaps there could be a way to stick it onto the shelter walls? Giving it a second life inside the shelters. ::: ##### Prototype 2 : user feedback :::warning | Postive | Neutral | Negative | | --------| --------| --------| | Really great idea, especially because it allows the shelter to grow its own food and have the homeless work for themselves.| Some shelters do not have the space next to windows, arrangements would have to be made| Because homeless people leave and come often, there needs to be a set system for who takes care of this - there is also an issue of hygiene, the vegetables need to be handled by clean hands.| This was her favorite idea. She said it was good as it was because it seemed simple to build and light to carry. There could be a sort of water recycling system instored, but the sponge system was good enough to keep simplicity. ::: ##### Prototype 3 : user feedback :::warning | Postive | Neutral | Negative | | --------| --------| --------| | This is a real problem for homeless, they really would love more privacy in their lives| How durable are the bricks?| A big issue is permission, would they be allowed to build these outside the shelters? In the shelters it would be up to the shelter staff to decide how and where to build these - not the homeless.| She believed this would be the most difficult to implement. The product itself is good, perhaps stronger materials need to be used - and maybe even instructions as to how to build could be written on each brick. ::: *** #### User 3 :::warning - Arthur Clapot - 25 - Student - Group project - 20 minutes ::: ##### Prototype 1 : user feedback :::warning | Postive | Neutral | Negative | | --------| --------| --------| | It seems practical, easy to use and transportable (it's small light). It seems like it could actually help homeless people carry stuff around. The design seems easy to build also.| It could be bigger to carry more stuff. Making it out of recyclable material would make it better.| They could also use it as a weapon, because homeless people get drunk and violent sometimes. Perhaps the design could be made more harmless.| Arthur was interested even for himself and groceries. Harmless design, recyclable material. ::: ##### Prototype 2 : user feedback :::warning | Postive | Neutral | Negative | | --------| --------| --------| | It is innovative. It gives homeless people a sense of responsibility. They have to take care of a plant, so there are many learning skills. It can be helpful.|Maintenance is important, or else the plants will die.| Homeless people might steal from the others' boxes and take vegetables for themselees.| Theft was a big concern. Make the homeless people able to paint their names on the boxes. It would also make it more playful. ::: ##### Prototype 3 : user feedback :::warning | Postive | Neutral | Negative | | --------| --------| --------| | I like the fact that this is about privacy. I think it's important specially for the homeless, it is humiliating for them to be exposed to the public like they are. They are able to be a bit by themselves, they can relax and be at peace. It is good that it is optional, so they are free. It seems low costs and easy to design | It might take a lot of space in the shelter.| The shelter is about bringing people together, so too many of those bricks could take out space that could be used to add a bed for another homeless person.| Perhaps thinner bricks to give more space to others and adding a sort of instruction kit to teach them how to use it. ::: *** ### 2. Improve your 3 prototypes Insert below **at least 3 pictures** for each one of your iterations showing your proposals evolution. :warning: <span style="color:red">**Drawings, illustrations and other images are not allowed.**</span> :::warning **Prototype of your 1st proposal** ![](https://i.imgur.com/SXLTHro.jpg) ![](https://i.imgur.com/pgs7Qpd.jpg) ![](https://i.imgur.com/ZNWOzOD.jpg) Describe the evolution of the prototype: The new prototype takes into account the main pushback of the interviews: the comfort. With the new design, we made it more comfortable but also stonger. The new additions are the foam (for comfort) and the wooden frame (for robustness). ::: ##### Prototype video https://i.imgur.com/w9G5FOF.mp4 Use your smartphone to make a short video (30s) showing your improved prototype, and post it on the Slack channel of your group. *** :::warning **Prototype of your 2nd proposal** ![](https://i.imgur.com/Kus8Jzp.jpg) ![](https://i.imgur.com/a4boXFB.jpg) ![](https://i.imgur.com/jmW4hbt.jpg) Describe the evolution of the prototype: We changed material from carton to a wood vegetable box.The wood is more sturdy and long-lasting. This was an important point that was brought up during the first round of interviews. ::: ##### Prototype video https://drive.google.com/file/d/1_LDA6zhqzTIl-rKuNqMaIU06u5j2sbz6/view?usp=sharing Use your smartphone to make a short video (30s) showing your improved prototype, and post it on the Slack channel of your group. *** :::warning **Prototype of your 3rd proposal** 1. Brick with dents ![](https://i.imgur.com/iqkrGiM.jpg) ![](https://i.imgur.com/Wf3JEUW.jpg) ![](https://i.imgur.com/8vTWAqP.jpg) 2. Brick with egg boxes ![](https://i.imgur.com/0aroX9T.jpg) ![](https://i.imgur.com/8PgnLhU.jpg) ![](https://i.imgur.com/L7V9U9W.jpg) Describe the evolution of the prototype: We created two new prototypes for our bricks, both different in terms of how to stick together. Indeed, the first one uses egg boxes to stick together. The second one uses dents in the bricks. With this, we want to test which one people prefer in the second part of the interviews. ::: ##### Prototype video https://drive.google.com/drive/u/0/my-drive Use your smartphone to make a short video (30s) showing your improved prototype, and post it on the Slack channel of your group. *** ### 3. Test your 3 iterations #### User 1 :::warning - Yvonne - 27 - She joined an association to help homeless people during her high school. - In the cafeteria of Emlyon - 40 minutes ::: ##### Prototype 1 : user feedback :::warning | Postive | Neutral | Negative | | --------| --------| --------| | Handle idea is a very interesting proposition but not creative enough. It should be different from existing handles | The shape of the handle should be improved. This handle could be circular with a lock on one side so they can fix their bags |Homeless people usually carry all their belongings with them, this handle is too small for them to take all their belongings and the handle can't afford heavy stuff. It's better to use a shopping cart than a handle| We need to improve the design of our handle so it can afford heavy belongings. ::: ##### Prototype 2 : user feedback :::warning | Postive | Neutral | Homeless | | --------| --------| --------| | Vegetable box is a good idea which can give an occupation to homeless people and help retrieve the light of hope. | It will be better to give them the vegatable seeds at the same time | Cultivation is a very complicated process and requires one kind of special knowledge. Even the farmers are not sure that they can get stable harvesting results at the end of the year. What can the homeless people eat if their plants die after one month of their cultivation? The failure can even damage their confidence badly. | We can put some instruction cards on the box or hire someone to teach homeless people how to grow vegetables. We can also provide the vegetable seeds to the homeless people. ::: ##### Prototype 3 : user feedback :::warning | Postive | Neutral | Negative | | --------| --------| --------| | That is a really feasible idea to help homeless people get more privacy| It is better to change the material since cardboard material can get soaked when it rains| no| We need to change the cardboard material into a plastic board. We also need to think about the money and time cost of the brick. One homeless people need at least 40 bricks to make a wall or small space. ::: *** #### User 2 :::warning - Vicky - 22 - student - none - none - In the subway station, she was giving some coins to the homeless people. - 30 minutes ::: ##### Prototype 1 : user feedback :::warning | Postive | Neutral | Negative | | --------| --------| --------| | My mother often uses it when she goes shopping but I have never tried this| The wood material doesn't look solid. It is better to make a rubber or plastic one| This handle is so general. you should differentiate it between homeless women and homeless men since they have different force and size of hands| we should do some weight tests for our handle and figure out the maximum weight it can bear. We can also change the material from wood to plastic. ::: ##### Prototype 2 : user feedback :::warning | Postive | Neutral | Negative | | --------| --------| --------| | The most important thing for them is to avoid starvation. Vegetables is a good choice when they want to improve the eating habits.| homeless people move a lot. It will be better if there is an agency in the shelter that can take care of the plant box . | Cultivation takes a lot of time. I don't think homeless people can spend one month or even longer taking care of their vegetables. Most of the vegetables need at least 5 months to grow up. Homeless people need something quick and anti-hunger like bread , rice.. | We can put the plant box in their shelter and there will be someone specialized in agriculture regulary taking care of the vegetables. ::: ##### Prototype 3 : user feedback :::warning | Postive | Neutral | Negative | | --------| --------| --------| | This is a really good idea, I like it so much | Those bricks are still not convenient to carry around even if they are light. Maybe you should put the brick at a special place in their shelter and ask them to put it back when they move to another shelter | no | We should think about the distribution system of our bricks since the bricks take a lot of space and homeless people are not willing to carry them at all time. ::: *** #### User 3 :::warning - Rani - 22 - student - none - none - In the makerslab - 1 hour ::: ##### Prototype 1 : user feedback :::warning | Postive | Neutral | Negative | | --------| --------| --------| | The design of handle is user-friendly| It will be more useful to have a luggage-like design, then they can drag them easily| I don't think homeless people will use the handle to carry their belongings since the handle is so small for their bags. | we can make a bigger and more solid handle. Or we can change our idea to make a luggage-like design for their belongings ::: ##### Prototype 2 : user feedback :::warning | Postive | Neutral | Negative | | --------| --------| --------| | It can be a good idea if you leave the plant box inside the shelter | no| It is impossible to put all kinds of vegetables in one box. They are not compatible and will compete with each other. You should put some board to separate the space | We should use some board separate every kind of vegetable or we can make one particular box for each kind of vegetable. ::: ##### Prototype 3 : user feedback :::warning | Postive | Neutral | Negative | | --------| --------| --------| | That is an easy and simple proposition | The egg packaging is a good idea if you want to put the brick inside the shelter | you need to change the polyfoam into some endothermic material. The fabrication of the brick will cost you a lot of money since you need to have a great quantity of bricks| we should keep the egg packaging form and change the material into plastic . idea: we can use 3D printing to make it ::: *** ### 4. Select the most promising proposal Describe below the selection process of the most promising proposal : :::warning After analysing the feedback of all interviews, we understood that the majority of people showed a special enthusiasm for the third proposal:the privacy bricks. The process of choosing this proposal was quite easy, since it was also our favorite idea since the beginning. Nonetheless, our process was the following: 1) We decided to listen to each interviewee's feedback in all 3 proposals in an equal way. We were impartial, in order to not influenciate answers. In addition to that, we put the same effort in trying to improve all 3 prototypes for the second round of interviews. 2) After the second round, answers were quite harmonious, plus two of the interviewees didn't even have a negative aspect for the privacy brick. 3) Lastly, we came to the conclusion that the most promising proposal is the third one: the privacy brick. ::: :::warning * The bricks represent an acurate way of solutioning a big problem in the homeless community: the sense of privacy. With our bricks, people will be able to separate their private space from the others in a very flexible way: they can choose the layout of their "wall" and the quantity of bricks they want. * Advantages: It is the most feasible idea (out of the 3); answers a real problem (the handlers and the vegetable box are just a "plus", not a solution). ::: Describe below what are the features of your final project : :::warning 1. Bricks that protect from both sound and temperature 2. Lighter weight than regular concrete / clay bricks 3. Each brick has dents in order to stick to other brick and form a wall, without using cement mixtures or glue - this way all bricks can be re-used. ::: *** # P3. Design ## Make your final prototype :::info Now that you have defined what is your best proposal it's time to make a greater version of it. You will present it to the jury during the final evaluation alongside the early prototypes made in the previous phase. ::: :::success A good prototype is self-explainatory : the user must be able to understand how it works without instructions or user manual. It must be fully functional and sufficiently strong to withstand several demonstrations in real conditions of use. ::: :::danger For this phase it is **mandatory** to use at least : - The **laser cutter** and/or the **3D printers** to build your physical “shell” - **Arduino** electronics and/or **Adobe XD** to make your prototype interactive. ::: :warning: <span style="color:red"> **Keep in mind that for the end evalutation the prototype will be the only way to communicate your project to the jury!** </span> ___ ### Ressources Here is a short list of useful websites and softwares for prototyping things. :::success - [instructables.com](https://www.instructables.com/): A great website with tutorials for (almost) everything - [makezine.com](https://makezine.com/projects/): A well known magazine with tons of cool projects - [thingiverse.com](https://www.thingiverse.com/) The world's largest 3D printing commmunity, with loads of projects - [hackaday.com](https://hackaday.com/): If you are a bit hacker or want to become one, this site is for you! - [wikifab.org](https://wikifab.org/wiki/Accueil): Just like instructables, but *en français* - [Slicer](https://apps.autodesk.com/FUSION/en/Detail/Index?id=8699194120463301363&os=Win64&appLang=en) : A software to convert 3D models (.stl files) into laser-cutted slices, a great tool to build cardboard objects. - [Make a box](https://makeabox.io/) : A website to create boxes that can be laser cutted - [Makercase](http://www.makercase.com/) : Another laser cutted boxes website - [templatemaker.nl](https://www.templatemaker.nl/) : To create quiclky paper objects that can be cutted with the laser cutter. - [Sculptris](http://pixologic.com/sculptris/) : A 3D sculpting tool, a fun way to create 3D models for 3D printing or laser cutting. - ... ::: Note in the section below all the projects and tools you've find to help you for the conception and fabrication of your final prototype. :::warning * http://carrefour-numerique.cite-sciences.fr/fablab/wiki/doku.php?id=projets:generateur_de_boites We used this site to generate the adobe illustrator design of our brick.According to our precedent design, we finally generated brick as length: 270mm, width:200mm height: 70mm * https://www.fab-brick.com/ Thanks to this site, we decided to fill our brick with plastic bags and clothes. We decided to contact this company by e-mail to share our brick design and ideas, and to ask for a possible partnership. Unfortunately, we still didn't receive their answer. Our main idea, if time allowed, was to use recyclable materials, like clothes or plastic, to build our bricks. Since we are treating such a fragile and human issue, it wouldn't make any sense to build these bricks and producing waste. So sustainability and re-used materials are the core of our idea for fabrication. ::: ### Demonstrator design #### Drawing :::info Start by taking a sheet of paper and draw the global shape of your demonstrator, then explode it into the parts that compose it and draw them one by one. ::: Insert below the pictures of your drawings, don't forget to write a caption for each image : :::warning ![](https://i.imgur.com/GXM5KNI.jpg) Main picture : global drawing of your demonstrator Here we can see the two main parts of the brick: the actual brick (the rectangles in the middle) and the egg boxes to put the bricks together. Hence, in the picture above we can see four bricks together. ::: :::warning ![](https://i.imgur.com/MDCWkLx.jpg) Part 1 drawing The first part is about the outter part of the brick. Indeed, above we can see the egg boxes that will be stuck around the brick. ::: :::warning ![](https://i.imgur.com/LsJUGsj.jpg) Part 2 drawing This is the brick itself without the egg boxes. The materials to be used will be either plastic or wood. ::: :::warning ![](https://i.imgur.com/a4LVlef.jpg) Part 3 drawing The third and maybe most important feature of the brick is what can be found inside. Inside there will be recycled garbage (plastic or clothing), which will help the brick be sound proof and insulating. ::: :::warning Do the same for each part of your prototype ... ::: ___ ### Means of fabrication :::info Now that you have designed your final prototype it's time to build it! Take the time to fill accuratly the following section to have a good overview of the building process. ::: #### Tools List below what tools you need for building the project: :::warning * Tool 1 laser cutter ::: #### Softwares : List below what software you need for the conception of your final prototype : :::warning * Software 1 Adobe Illustrator * Software 2 Adobe XD ::: #### BOM (Bill Of Materials) List in the table below all the elements you need to build your demonstrator (replace the exemples with your parts) : :::warning |Part number| Part name | Material /description | Dimensions |Quantity | |-----------| ----------- | ------------------------ | -------- |----- | |1 | egg packagings | square | 200mm x 200mm | 6 | |2 | plastic board | plastic | 400 x 400 mm | 1 | |3 | wood board | wood | 400 x 400 | 4 | |4 | Adobe Xd| Web 1920 | 1920 x 1080 | 1 | |5 | Color Spray | brick-red | 400ml | 1 | ::: :::success Once you have decided what features to prototype and how, settle a meeting with the makers’ lab manager of your campus. He will give you some technical feedback and the material you need. Do not expect the makers’ lab managers to tell you what to build! ::: ___ ### Conception - Use Adobe Illustrator or TinkerCAD to design your parts. - Use Adobe XD and/or arduino to design interactions :::warning ![](https://i.imgur.com/dzQO5Vq.jpg) ![](https://i.imgur.com/8dctbjq.jpg) ![](https://i.imgur.com/fqp3prA.jpg) ![](https://i.imgur.com/QgxIeKl.jpg) ![](https://i.imgur.com/WvTL3Wr.jpg) ![](https://i.imgur.com/2CCDRQy.jpg) ![](https://i.imgur.com/9PusEKr.jpg) ![](https://i.imgur.com/8bbt7zD.jpg) ![](https://i.imgur.com/6hJ4ZNF.jpg) Insert here screenshots and / or links of your 2D and 3D files and write a caption for each screenshot ::: ___ ### Building process Describe below the building steps of your demonstrator and insert a picture for each step : :::warning ![](https://i.imgur.com/3N5Hxsg.jpg) ![](https://i.imgur.com/HTjGRoB.jpg) ![](https://i.imgur.com/q6IY4ea.jpg) ![](https://i.imgur.com/FaZQumK.jpg) ![](https://i.imgur.com/LU1N4j6.jpg) **step one** : Above we can see the brick in wood, done by laser cutting and then putting the different faces of the bricks together. Then, inside, we see the recycled plastic, for insulation and sound-proofing. ::: :::warning ![](https://i.imgur.com/PwdekKn.jpg) ![](https://i.imgur.com/3bfJdOQ.jpg) **step two** : The egg boxes are stuck onto the bricks. This is make it possible for the bricks to be put together. The egg boxes are a unique feature because it will also give an aspect of sustainability to the brick. ::: :::warning ![](https://i.imgur.com/sOw2rL0.jpg) ![](https://i.imgur.com/0RDr3Fa.jpg) **step three** : The bricks are then sprayed into a brown color. ::: :::warning Do the same for all the step of the building process ... ::: ##### Prototype video https://drive.google.com/file/d/1A_Y3kedZCC6ns5h6WUHTTrrLW1d8KoKg/view?usp=sharing Use your smartphone to make a short video (30s) showing your improved prototype, and post it on the Slack channel of your group. --- # P4. Share :::info You’re almost there! You’ve a built your final prototype, now it’s time to share your project with the world. During the sharing phase you’ll make your project understandable and makable by everyone. ::: :::danger In this part you have to fill your online documentation using Glitch, don't forget to insert the link below. ::: :::warning [my-documentation](https://) Insert here the link of your Glitch documentation :::
