Storyline:

  • Device and UI (pinned) should be in the same alignment and close to each other -> Immersiveness argument

  • Imagine you need to survey a set of IoT devices in a factory or a big building (office, campus). You need to inspect different sensor values, check the state of the machines, and manipulate them.

  • Our idea is to bring that level of connectivity to you using mixed reality. Normally, all those devices don't have screens. Laptop/tablets are possible but they are not immersive, positioning can be arbitrary and are detached from the context.

  • Here try it!

  • We are using OpenXR so that this can work in any XR headset and we have also developed an open-source library to send the correct messages via parsing WoT TDs.

  • We imagine this to be an experience where viewing is the first entry. So we will reduce the amount of interactions to navigate the UI.

  • (Only if you see UX team) We need to start rethinking how UX and UI work in these new environments.

  • This is thanks to our collaboration with TU Munich.

Meeting Packing

  • Ege will come to the uni to help packing.

Notes for the event:

  • Email of Ege and Fady and Idil
  • Take photos
  • Keep hololens always charged
  • TUM will work on the open source publication of the OpenXR project
  • Too many people around -> Demo it yourself and open dev live preview
  • Don't move fast
  • Start the app while not looking at many people. Look at the room for a longer time. -> Hololens needs to understand what is static, what is moving.
  • Try to connect to internet and try other Things (like node-wot things)
  • Idil: I work with Ege and Fady from TUM. Master thesis involved this project. -> Big project in TUM, contributing

Siemens Info:

  • Customer: No, first time we are showing this. It is our CMC investment -> Research funding of our team. This will go on for 3 more years.
  • DI: Digital Industries (factories). SI: Smart Infrastructure (buildings, grid). SMO: Mobility (trains, ev chargers)
