# Dweb Calendar Coordination
all q's (calendar/event tracking related)
**What is already there? What resources do you have?**
- Mai: I'm working with the Internet Archive on a new DWeb website to be a hub for resources, blogs, etc. about anything "dweb". We'd like to host a public version of this calendar. We can also help do outreach to get people to use it and if needed, find volunteers to maintain it.
- Between us here, we have a good idea of ongoing events and other places to find events so we can easily populate them. Events such as IA's DWeb meet-ups, Open Tech Will Save Us, IPFS meet-ups, etc.
- Anna: Redecentralized and multiple sources , but no calendar. I do my own list sometimes. Would like to see a public calendar where everyone or a selected group has a right to share cool events, publish own events. We might need to form criteria if it is curated.
- Gerben:
- Current resources:
- Redecentralize
- Existing event calendars:
- [Redecentralize Digest][] lists a few events. But I likely miss many of them, it is only published once a month, and it has no dedicated page nor an option to import events into a calendar app.
- [foss.events][] is great for inspiration, but has a different topic focus (and only whole-day events).
- communities listing their own events: [IndieWeb events][], [IFF’s event calendar][], [Solid events][], [Open Tech Will Save Us][], [CCC][], [p2p berlin][] etc.
- Some of these (IndieWeb and IFF) also publish an ICS feed that people can subscribe to in any calendar app!

Carolyn: We have lots of organizations! All with their calendars!!! Interested in how we can create a shared and embodied one
- Z: the permaculture community is also building a shared calendar. They are keen to synch up with us and other neighbouring communities :) We have a lot of events lined up as well as a calendar system in SSB.
**What do you want to see? Where are there gaps?**
- Z: It would be wonderful to have a shared calendar with only FOSS / value aligned events. Also nice with different "tracks" so that all doesn't have to be super techy but could be "how to start growing mycelium" or other :)
- Paul: We need some kind of tool for managing the calendar
- Paul: We need to figure out how to distribute the calendar
- Paul: One idea proposed here was to get in touch with groups like redecentralize.org and offer to share the calendar with them to publish
- Paul: I'm generally hoping the calendar can help the community grow
- Anna: I am missing a place where I could see events of the p2p and dweb projects, meetups, conferences, hackathons, whatever. Only place is Gerben's Redecentralized digest. Would be cool to form it into the visual calendar space with the possiblity to multi user access, curated or half-curated. A development of this I see that there is an indexed environment where ppl can folllow authors or groups who collect events in their feeds, events are searchable by tags, organizers.
- Carolyn: I am interested in a calendar that captures the intersection of cool dweb projects, governance, commoning, p2p, social justice organizing etc - where, most importantly the underlying values are commonly held and there. I have a list of projects that I follow that make up that image in my head. I would like a calendar that makes visible the already-exisitng relationships between dweb technologists, philosophers, activists and permaculture folks etc
- Gerben:
1. A go-to place for events around internet decentralisation
2. Decentralisation people using decentralised/self-hosted tools instead of meetup.com / facebook / etc.
3. An example of community facilitation/organisation that could inspire others to do the same.
- Mai: Love some of the ideas shared here. I think the only thing I was expecting was to have a shared, subscribable calendar that can be integrated with people's calendar interfaces of choice.
- A part of that is figuring out who/how we curate the events on there. Some questions that come up for me around this are:
- Do we have this officially hosted by certain orgs/individuals?
- Have a formal working group with explicited stated aims/goals/values of this calendar?
- For ex. We probably don't want to have super start-uppy/product pitch events to be included?
- How do decide roles or have shifting rotations of curation?
**What, personally, could you bring?**
–Anna: I search events for myself and my team, would like to share my own findings with everyone. Also involve more communitites into our caledar. I'm not a developer, can help with managing and or connections
- Gerben: help with organising, content gathering/curation, (web site) development & administration
Carolyn: +1 Anna, I have less technical knowledge but large lists of the projects/connects that already exist.
I would love to help it grow organically, beautifully and at its pace
- Paul: I've got some tech skills and can do some organizing. I also have access to the Hypercore Protocol community
- Z: access to SSB network and loop in to events happening in our space + some organizing capacity from myself + connection to Permculture international communities
- Mai: I can help with organizing, outreach, content gathering/curation
Points to pay attention to/ questions?
* Criteria for what events are included?
* What kinds of projects or orgs are we elevating/publicizing?
* Who might be maintaining this?
Layered Calendar system? How can aligned communities be easily IDed with a calendar
Parameters? Criteria?
- Decentralized Web values
- p2p
- open source
- activism/social justice + tech
-
- virtual? (during covid)
- layers of dweb / blockchain / governance/ currency / radical earthy / CFP
- layers of: everything we know about / curated / curated by....
- tiers for submitting events (super important / maybe not relevant for everyone)
product pitches (1>many) or stuff that is interactive
for users/for developers
workshops
Next actions:
Dump actual events into matrix chat room (Gerben will make)
Carolyn will document of what is shared in matrix
Carolyn will send out when-to-meet
