# Searcher NFT

:bulb: TLDR; The eth ecosystem does not want a single centralized builder overlord. One path that leads to a single builder controlling 99% of the blocks is exclusive orderflow. There is monetary incentive for a searcher to be exclusive. Let's combat this monetary incentive with reputation, facilitated by a fun NFT.

## Introduction

The merge + proto-PBS has reduced centralizing pressures of mining but we aren't in the clear. With proto-PBs we've begun separating proposers from builders with the assumption that it will remain a vibrant and fair open market. Builders often rely on searchers to make their bundles profitable. Looking at the data now searchers are sending to a broad array of builders but this could change.

We propose sending an NFT to searcher addresses whom send bundles to the majority of builders as a reward for compating centralizing forces. This would be something like an award that shows that the searcher is helping to ensure there are no super centralized builders that will ruin ethereum.From an implementation perspective, the data required to ensure a searcher is sending to a majority of builders isn’t available in the EVM so it would require permissioned updatability from someone running the analysis/updating the NFTs. Instead of direct monetary incentive, the eth community can contribute rewards as they see fit. Status goes pretty far as an incentive driver and the goal is to create something that “glorifies” these searchers. Perhaps it acts as a list that builders can all give free/beta services to. Maybe it’s an entrance ticket to participate in another searcher game. Maybe a secret group chat authenticated via NFT with high profile people in the space.

## Overview

If a searcher sends bundles to a minimum of 21 builders that land on-chain they get a soulbound NFT.

Maybe this could be a tiered approach where we also reward to anyone that doesn't send to only 1 builder. This is sort of the opposite of shaming.

Regardless of the approach there would need to be a mechanism in which if a searcher begins doing exclusive order flow the NFT reduces in perceived value.

## Implementation

Searcher Champ NFT is an `ERC721`, with a permissioned interface to update internal variables: `balance` and `num_builders_in_wild`

Every `X blocks`, Searcher Champ NFT will be awarded to any `MEV Bot Address` that has private orderflow on blocks with `num_builders_in_wild` different extra data fields.

### Concerns
- **Centralized Permisions** : Only one party idealy will be able to update this NFT. The results must be computed off chain because the relevant data is not accessible from the EVM. If there is a reputable party responsible for this, sufficient resources for maintenance, and extremely open processes/updates, this should not be an issue.

- **Bundle Classificaiton** : You can technically be a searcher in the mempool. Ontop of that, there may be differing methodologies for determining private orderflow. At Blocknative we consider any txn not seen in our mempool archive as private orderflow.

- **Sybil resistance** : someone could send bundles which tip the validator but do nothing and trick their way into this system. One approach to fixing this could be to make it contingent on bundles making it on-chain and the status must be maintained - not a one and done process.

The idea here is that there is a monetary incentive for searchers and builders to strike back room deals and create exclsuive orderflow. We can't combat this value through direct monetary incentive, but maybe we can create a status game which leads to enough social rewards to combat this issue.

**Private Access**

Offer searchers who own the NFT early access to Order Flow Auctions/Protocols. Align efforts across both initiatives. Searchers will want the NFT in order to gain access to new order flow boosting adoption.
