Hello Heroes! This is the first official developer update from the Heroes team. While we have had informal updates since the beginning of the project we've decided it would be more beneficial to deliver official updates on a regular basis. We are still determining the best interval for official updates.
We are excited to share our progress on the Dungeon game which we are now officially calling Merlin's Dungeons! We had an amazing pre-alpha launch with the community and got really valuable feedback. Everyone who participated earned Merlin's Medallion - our first in-game item minted on Arbitrum! The medallion will come in handy later on ;) The medallion was minted directly to the player's wallet without any transaction needed! This is how all blockchain functionality will function within Merlin's Dungeons. You'll connect your wallet once and no transactions will be required after that. All transactions are faciliated on your behalf.

We've been busy coding and planning Merlin's Dungeons. Here's a quick video which showcases some of the latest additions, including sound effects, updated music, and the ability to play with almost any Hero. Although not all sound effects or soundscapes have been incorporated, the limited number added have greatly enhanced the gaming experience!

The initial dungeon mint used Hearts, the premium in-game currency of the Heroes universe. This was a fun experiment, but it lead to some friction and we didn't see the success we wanted to with the Dungeon mint. We've updated the website to allow for ETH minting! We hope that this will make dungeons more accessible and bring more people to the community.
We are really happy with the foundation we've built so far. Here are the next features that we are prioritizing.
Did someone say weekly dungeon events?! What are dungeon events? Well we plan to have weekly events where players play through pre-selected dungeons owned by the community. If your dungeon is chosen for that week then a portion of the treasure (gold/hearts/?) found in your dungeon will be distributed to you! Top players for the week will be rewarded with special prizes, like rare loot, hearts, and more! You'll also find evil bosses that you must defeat to move forward.
Building this is top priority and work has already begun to support dungeon linking in the game code.

Get ready for an in-game item store to help progress through dungeon waves and defeat enemies! At first the store will only include potions that you can buy with gold that you've collected during your session, but future iterations will include premium items you can buy with Hearts and other items that you can buy with gold.
We are updating the inventory system to support all kinds of items!
