# Notes: Genesis Intelligence Rendezvous
22 September 2021 17:00 UTC - *5 attendees*
### Links and notes from the meeting
- Lots of excitement from the friday powwow at MCON
- CabinDAO as an embassy for DAOs, ambassadors for DAOs to come together. Pairs nicely with the DIA
- What might the DIA look like in the future?
- Curate DAO knowledge for new folks and publish to the DAO community broadly
- Help to share knowledge on the bleeding edge between the DAO operators
- Co-create new experiments in DAOs and DAO governance and share learnings
- An decentralized idea, without a core group, that facilitates knowledge sharing
- Whichever version of DIA is the most fun, and nutures valuable relationships
### Most important intel
- Cardo: really excited about Myco
- https://m.mirror.xyz/6UxMOPMAnCZr8XSkhIM2Xx47bZ7X5rColwpnwIDbx5s
- Solving a lot of the pain points of DAOs, primarily compliance, legal risk, financial risk, taxes
- Community ownership, with tradeoffs to reduce risk
- Redacted: it wasn't about Moloch or MetaCartel, it was about advancing Coordination culture
- We can drill into culture of coordination, best practices about tools
- Identifying an enemy: coordination failure (moloch), really cool and we can keep riffing on that
- Also check out the How to DAO series
- https://docs.google.com/document/d/1jxbb3YkrjAT1TUe6W2yCFUAsXUhdVt5JYoJwmMfykoQ/edit#heading=h.xm43iia8mx4f
- Narly:
- Now understand the importance of ragequitting, as applied to "exit, voice, and loyalty"
- Grimoire to translate smart contracts to legalese: https://github.com/metacartel/MCV/blob/master/Legal/Grimoire%20and%20Exhibits/MCV-Grimoire-Final-All-Exhihbits.pdf
- Yearn's Blue Pill as a vision doc for yearn but also DAOs broadly: https://medium.com/iearn/the-blue-pill-ca44ed01f16f
- Careful of General Partnership liability for DAOs!!!
- Cowboy:
- Currently using a DE LLC, referencing the on-chain token distribution
- LLC is owned by the DAO
- Right now, more like a loose DAO (Spengram term)
- Cowboy:
- "I'm a DAO realist"
- Where are the right places to be on the spectrum between pure DAO on-chain and loose DAO?
- For DAOs to go mainstream, will probably start looser, and also progressively decentralize over time
- Believe that you need a benevolent dictator to get it off the ground
- Decentralized in terms of tokens (nobody owns more than 5%) but not technically
- Mythosthesia:
- Sounds like concentric circles around the founders
- Still need better tools to decentralize well and easily
- Cowboy:
- I think a mistake DAOs are making is to expect that anything other than progressive decentralization will happen, you'll probably have implicit power strucutres emerge anyway
- See Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test for case study
- Implicit power structures are less visible and less clear
- I believe in explicit power structures, and intending to decentralize them
- Mythosthesia:
- 100% Agree. I'm super conservative about turning over control of something I love to an unknown mechanism
- Can't wait for there to be better tools for turning over our authority in a trustful way
- Cowboy:
- DIA can really contribute to this, what tools are working and what tools are not
- Mythosthesia:
- What is our understanding of best practice architecture? If people want to get together and start a new DAO (knittingDAO), what would we recommend architecturally to achieve that?
- Cowboy:
- We've actually documented this at Cabin How to DAO 101: Choosing a Tech Stack for CabinDAO
- https://creators.mirror.xyz/862A5rBtKX3BC8eEircDnGwPIJJTJ33hn-MvnukByPc
- Cardo:
- Determine if the governance controls the funding from day 1
- Also check out Juicebox for this purpose
