--- ###### tags: `Rangers` --- # Audience, Tone, Format for Rangers Articles I have personally encountered some friction and want to try to hold myself accountable for understanding and making explicit the motivations and intentions of Rangers publications. This means identifying the audience we are writing for and identifying the appropriate format and tone for maximizing the value of our output and strengthening our alignment behind a common goal. We currently seem to hold various interpretations of what these goals are, although I suspect that a little bit of structure might clarify those difference and reveal that they are not mutually exclusive. *We might also consider how this structure might support the discussion on B2B focus, developing partnerships, public goods grants/funding, etc.* --- | Audience | Interests | Tone | Format | Examples | | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | | Developers | Learning about our software, iterating on it, gathering the technical details of *what* and *how* we are developing. | Neutral, objective, succinct, bullet pointed, time efficient writing | Twitter threads, DH technical docs, refined Magesmiths rage reports with links to the corresponding Github repos | Magesmith developments, interesting technical use cases, Moloch/Baal concepts | DH Users | Intermediate technical level, curious about DH events, some familiarity to using our product that want to understand the *significance of the content to their own needs*, how to improve their DAO | Convivial, informative, excited, curious | Conveyed through DAO use cases (technical), published as a short blog post | Magesmith features, Boosts, Bolt-Ons | Non-Users, Investors, Crypto at large | Needs more context on how topics fit into a larger scope of DH, interested in *cultural significance for sake of their own participation and/or investment*, how DH compares to other DAO platforms, Paladins and Alchemists external policy changes that affect the brand identity and market | Evangelical, convincing, confident, reassuring | Conveyed through DAO use cases (cultural), published as a short blog post | CCO, policy changes, partnerships | | DH "Community" | DH-wide news and updates, Paladins and Alchemist internal policy changes that affect how we think about decen orgs, Web3 and crypto-wide concepts | Conversational, educational, thought provoking | medium length blogposts | Objective accounts of DH policy process, subjective accounts of a Warcamper's experience with internal changes | | Event Audiences, DAOists chasing vibes | gossip, alpha, commentary, current events in DAOs/crypto, special guests, DH origin stories, weirdness, cool ideas, all about the vibes | Natural, light, sense of humor, goofy, cast of characters of DH | Shitpost tweets, transcriptions of events | HPL, DH Diaries, WarGames | We might also consider... | Audience | Interests | Tone | Format | Examples | | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | | DAO outsiders, the un-pilled, crypto OGs that appreciate breaking the mould | Art, culture building, relation of DAOs/Web3 to non-tech subject matter | Highly variable, highly subjective POV, cultural emphasis, vibes | Experimental! Probably deserves unique consideration, pushes boundaries, atypical mode of dissemination, long-form articles (like [DeathGuild](https://deathguild.xyz/)) | DH "Diaries", experimental interviews, zines, AMM (Analog Meme Machine) |
