# Case Study ## Part 1

### Part 1
1) Be a hero and try save everyone?

### Part 2
1) Go to elevated ground away from tall buildings or flammable materials
2) Walk do not run to an open space area (Evacuation area, Upper Campus car park)
3) Unplug powertools if possible
4) Check casualties or if anyone was hit
5) Make a list of names
6) Raymond runs to Raymonds home to see if Raymonds Mom is alright (it is on a hill - 1.3km away)
7) Ask Clifford to find a security guard
8) Wait in evacuation area (Top floor carpark upper campus)
### Part 3
1) Send 1-2 people to check for casualties and perform first aid - carry others to carpark
2) Move to level below top floor and check cars for bottled water
3) Send couple people to get some bottled water & snacks from foodcourt or vending machines
4) Send couple people to find communication such as radio
5) Get some food and warm clothes after everything settled down

1) Sleep in cars in carpark if another crazy thing happens before leaving to go home
2) Go home if everything is fine after a few days

- Ask group members for any suggestions

- Search all nearby buildings and pool resources
- Assign roles depending on skills
- Get chemists to filter water
- Collect rainwater

2. Priority to establish comms with other students/internet, find member of staff

3. Consider current situation, do we have enough food, water, supplies? Is anyone injured and needs immediate attention?
4. Establish communications; raid JB Hi-Fi up road, find a car with working radio.
5. Look at Randwick up road for food and water, high enough to avoid flooding.
6. Fire-starting supplies as well from Randwick, look in chemistry lab.

3. Assign specialised tasks to find more food, supplies, help, fire
4. Start building sustainable food/water resources --> filtration devices and gathering long life food from surrounding areas.

1. Check if you and everyone are ok
2. Leave the building ASAP
3. Go to the UNSW Fitness and Aquatic Centre and look for life jackets.
4. Get to upper campus in case of the tsunami
5. Find fire hoses/sources of water in case of the fire spreading to the campus
6. Try get means of communication working i.e. radios etc
7. Quickly write your will and plan your funeral :)

- try find food and water - raid IGA, carry as many as you can in your backpack

- get to the top of the basser steps - tsunami won't be able to reach you from there

Water:
- distill water using pots and pans
- find heat source (gas stoves)
- create fire for heat source, have as many people distilling water
- need to find pots/pans from staff rooms or cafes

Food:
- Supermarkets that are elevated (where)
- IGA
- other people
Shelter:
- On the ground somewhere high up
- Find food and water (how would we)
- Establish communication (how)
- Check if phone is capable of FM reception and activate for radio.
