*
## Attendees
* John Holden, Community Manager of DT Hub, Connected Places Catapult (CPC)
* Cass Gould van Praag
### Notes
* John wants to understand the RCM role in TRIC-DT Hub.
* Seen presentations form Mark G, but additional context would be useful.
* Cass described TRIC at the Turing level and TRIC-DT Themes.
* We intend for the TRIC to be inclusive in the projects we support - *afterthought - we haven't mapped out internally what "project support" will look like, but minimally I expect we'll be able to direct all researchers to our knowledge commons, so can be fully inclusive in that sense, even if we a re limited in who we can give 1-2-1 support to.*
* CP catapult is not private industry, and not a government body. General progression of an ecosystem benefits all those involved.
* Turing has access and expereince in Univesities, so they would like to make a way to highlight and promote our activity, and share the learnings for the benefit of the community as a whole - "Catapult the industry"
* Increased exposure and impact of TRIC-DT
* When TRIC was setting up, Mark G: "we have to find ways to benefit the broader community"
* DT Hub continually exploring vision statements - the potential usecases are very broad. They see the value of DTs, and there is also risk is we don't optimise the value for the intersts of decision makers.
* John's background in international relations and community development
* The US military developed a large DT project which wasn't successful, and that has turned some of the market away from DTs (more details on this in the call recording from 17:35)
* Need to make sure the market sees the value
* The use of DTs needs to be anchored in a problem for which DT is the appropriate solution.
* Countries and sectors approach DTs in different ways
* UK: How do we progress it at a national/government level
* US: Private market focus, with less govenment support
* DT Hub want to capitalise on our govenment interest/investment - they want to help progress it now while the technology is still backed.
* Working groups in the process of being re-evaluated
* WG leaders are outlining future outcomes and resourcing
* 4 currently, could be towards 6
* As they come online, they will be promoted - "this working group is looking for X"
* Digital skills and capabilities is an area of specific focus
* John will send over opportunities which he thinks will be of interest/value to our community - we are encouraged to do the same
* They would like a stream of information to share about TRIC-DT, and showcase our journey
* Their community members can contribute
* 40 different sectors at varying levels of application
* Opportunity for people to get involved is always good
* See the journey that different DT projects take
* Upskill and learn from other challenges and even mistakes
* Highlight mistakes more (doesn't happen very often)!
* Not many people are comfortable about that - "we tried X, and it failed". File drawer problem!
* We want people who care about progressing this ecosystem
* They would appreciate someone who is open in sharing the problems
* The entire journey, with it's twists and turns!
* Cass talked about mountain of engagement and open leadership - we want to create opportunities for our members to grown and upskill
* Perfect collaboratiob between us might be increased opportunity to expand our work - they will provide the platform and opportunity to promote what we're doing
* DT Hub are interested in ways to get different government groups involved and drive the projects forwards
* Positive usecases
* CPC try to connect on polidy development, but DT Hub don't directly wortk on policy and shaping direction. Indirectly hoping to influence through usecases.
#### DT Hub
* n=4400
* 65% UK, 35% over 80 different countries (some only n=1/2, largest UK, Italy, Canada, India)
* 4 categories of members
* "Basic" (30%)= they provide basic contact info, but no specific research interests - first entry point.
* Everyone starts as a basic member, then as they want to access more information, we request more info
* "Innovators" (35%), "assest owners" (10%), "academics" (25%)
* ATI = "academic"
* Asset owners = large companies
* Innovators = solution providers, policy
* Offerings
* Projects and funding promotion
* Organisations looking for collaborators
* Educating (biggest offering)
* Case studies (recent push to promote)
* Lot of learnings people can bebfits from
* Gemini calls
* Sharing project journeys
* TRIC may fall into this space - active engagement and progress. Regular involvement and updates. E.g. we release a new case study, they promote and/or we present in the gemini call. E.g. the development of standards.
* Q: Do you deliver hands on learning?
* Currently pilotting a senior leaders course in DTs (initially transport related)
* Giving leaders the tools to understand the value it
* Collab with Cranfield University
* Aiming for decsiion makers in different transport arms
* Chief Data Officer for National Highways
* Chief Data Officer for Anglian Water (also on their board)
* These people are helping to identify the right organisational level to target for this course, to reach the people with appropriate influence and decision making power
#### Next Steps
* John will discuss with his team in the next couple of weeks to pin down some opportunities
* Meet around/after 2nd week October.
* John will ping with some times (I've also noted to chase 1st week October)
