Whats Happening at NFT NYC? A Field Guide of Must-See Events and Activations

Matt Stevenson, the Founder, has spent his career building and supporting brands and consumer experiences at Conde Nast and TIME, most recently building TIMEPieces, the wildly successful web3 initiative. The collection will explore identity and feature some of the world’s leading queer, BIPOC, and ally artists with all proceeds going right back to the community. They are on a mission to bring Christopher Street to the metaverse with MetaPride Land.
The pockets of the NFT community may be bleeding, but this week proved that project founders are doing just fine. The largest party of the week was ApeFest, a separate but concurrent festival thrown by Yuga Labs, stewards of the Bored Ape Yacht Club. Events from profile-picture NFT collections stole the show. Moonbird holders witnessed David Blaine sew his mouth shut. Pudgy Penguin and Cool Cats owners wandered IRL installations with plentiful merch, enjoying token-gated parties of their own by night. The week’s epicenter of cringe, the Times Square MoonPay lobby, was as much of a spectacle as any of the performance art.
The event will feature a fully immersive live DJ set by Georgia Sinclair and her metaverse avatar, as well as artwork from featured projects Dented Feels, SuperNormal, and friends. Centered around a 25-piece NFT poster collection commissioned from leading artists in web3, NFTSea. Presented by Blockparty, will be an open-to-the-public event and a takeover of the iPic Theatre in The Seaport. With live DJs, immersive art, and AR experiences, the activation is set to be one of the largest satellite happenings during NFT.NYC. NFTSea also comes complete with a philanthropic aspect as all proceeds from the poster collection sales will go directly to Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation, which funds children’s cancer research. This is the fourth annual event that brings together hundreds of artists, musicians, filmmakers, investors and tech entrepreneurs.
And while nft game seemed like no one minded these imperfections too much and still enjoyed the events, a bit of professional event management is much needed in the space. As nft game to the Gutter Cat Gang NFT project, a collection of 12,000 unique tokens on the Thereum blockchain, the event also featured a VIC Kibble Club for very important cats. Education was also plentiful, covering topics such as investment strategies, IP and licensing, the future of NFT decentralization, and revolutionizing the music industry with NFTs, just to name a few.
After a massive upscaling for 2021’s NFT.NYC, the event has nearly tripled in size for its 2022 iteration, now featuring over 1,500 speakers at multiple venues over a span of four days. Eternal Royals is a collection of 9,224 kings and queens created by the artist, Jesse Johnson. The project features unique artwork and innovative utility giving token holders the opportunity to print a 1 of 1 canvas with an embedded NFC chip to verify proof of ownership linking the physical print to the NFT.
Set to be a casual recurring happy hour for new and old Miamians and New Yorkers, the event is open to the public for those interested in connecting with fellow entrepreneurs, investors, tech folks, and more. Although the gathering is hosted every other week at Freehold, this special NFT.NYC edition is sure to see a turnout from NFT/crypto community members from all over. One of their main initiatives at NFT.NYC will be programming for #womeninweb3 and female leadership, as well as onboarding women builders and creators in the space through the WGF Women Artists’ Invitational project we started at NFT LA. An experiential community center for a diverse mix of builders and creators to spend time in NYC.
The influential Doodles project will be hosting three days of immersive events, two of which will be open to the public. Taking over an exclusive theater to showcase the upcoming project roadmap, the Doodles crew will be hosting a premiere of their product trailer, brand new IRL experiences, and exclusive information drops at events throughout the week. With major announcements and partnerships to be revealed and live performances on the docket, the Doodles community is encouraged to come out and show their support. The NFT Guild and Redpill VR are teaming up to present Web3Fest — a mixed reality event hosted as part of the Dented Feels NYC Vacation. Hosted by Paolo Moreno, Web3Fest is presented as part of Redpill VR’s mission to create the most innovative VR experiences on the market.
To see a full list of community and satellite events, visit the NFT.NYC website here. For the entire week of June 20, NFT.NYC will act as a stomping ground for those both interested in and involved in blockchain-based art, music, film, gaming, sports, fashion, and more. With a roster including appearances and keynotes from celebrities such as French Montana and Timbaland to NFT stars including Roham Gharegozlou and Chad Knight, the annual conference will undoubtedly be one to remember. Over the years, NFT.NYChas evolved from a small, niche annual conference into one of the most monumental events in blockchain culture.
