# Akri KubeCon EU 2024 - CFP Speakers: Andrew Gracey and Yu Jin Kim https://events.linuxfoundation.org/kubecon-cloudnativecon-europe/program/cfp/#submit-your-talk ## Dates Paris: March 19 - 22, 2024 CFP: Due Nov 26, 2023 ## Session title: - [ ] Improving usability at the edge by porting parts of Akri to WebAssembly - [ ] Orchestrating WebAssembly workloads on leaf devices at the edge from a Kubernetes cluster ### Description #### Improving Usability...: Many use cases for edge computing are limited by network bandwidth making it hard to deal with updating via containers. One way to mitigate this issue is with WebAssembly (WASM). Along with many other benefits, WebAssembly allows for a dramatic reduction in the artifact size that needs to be transferred without any reduction in performance. This improvement paves the way for using cloud native projects on the remote side of 4G or satellite connections. Join us to learn more about how the Akri project is using WASM to improve it's performance and where we expect to go in the next year! #### Orchestrating WASM ...: For edge workloads, it's not uncommon that the hardware that you want to manage is too resource-constrained for running a Kubernetes node. With some clever integration of a few open source projects, we can allow for managing devices that are outside of a Kubernetes cluster in a cloud native way! In this session we will cover ways of using Akri and WebAssembly together to improve both the developer and operator experience of leaf nodes. ### Track Networking + Edge + Telco ### Session format Session Presentation ### Level Intermediate ### Benefits to the ecosystem Our talk helps explain how to extend the value of Kubernetes further out of the data center to the management of devices that are not able to run Kubernetes directly. I expect to see more CNCF projects offering ways to blend the two worlds (OT and IT) going forward. ### Case study? ### Presented this talk before? ### CNCF-hosted software Akri, K3s ### Open-source projects Spin, WASM/WASI/etc... ### Additional resources ### Additional notes ## Speaker biography
