This post should be used to collect all the items we will put in the newsletter.
Sign off on your additions in the following manner (with a rationale). As shown below:

## Contents
From the template Owen Hart sent, the cannonical sections are:
- Professional Development
- Volunteer Opportunities
- Don't forget (events)
- Upcoming AIChE Events
These are excessively automated, in that they will very likely be pulled directly from say, Volunteer Central. To these I'd like to add some curated content, maybe Publication Committee Long Reads or from the Editors Desk or some such.

## Volunteer Opportunities
### YPC Specific
- YPC Publications Writers / Content Creators
- We are seeking more hands for adding more color to our newsletter and to work on a series of alternative engagement methods
> [name=Rohit Goswami] Copied directly from Shelby's announcement
- YPC Social Coordinator at 2021 Annual Meeting.
- We are seeking a volunteer to help us plan the YPC social night at conference this fall during the Annual Meeting in November. This event is for all the YPs attending the conference to have a chance to network. If you are interested, email myself and Owen H (AICHE staff liaison, owenh@aiche.org).
- The Management Division has started monthly webinars on career development.
- As always they are enthusiastic about YP participation and think that leading the webinar/ Q&A would be a good way for the talks to become more relevant to YPs. It would also be an opportunity for YPs to get to know Senior management division members. If you are interested in helping with the webinars or attending the webinars, please email Aditi Khadilkar at adusci@gmail.com for more information.
- The Management Division is working on organizing a topical conference for the 2023 Annual Meeting.
- They are seeking YPC volunteers to help with this event-everything from assisting in writing the proposal to hosting the conference. If you are interested in helping with the topical conference please email Aditi Khadilkar at adusci@gmail.com for more information.
As a note, you do not have to be a manager to join the management division. It's for any AICHE members with an
interest in management or who might be managers.

### Deep Learning and Traditional Spreadheets for Chemical Engineering
In our inaugural segment on long reads, we present two approaches of contrasting complexity and their usage in Chemical Engineering. Deep learning is constantly in the spotlight now, for research and entrepreneurs, while Excel has remained the workhorse of sections of our Chemical engineering community for several years.
#### I: [Introduction to Deep Learning Concepts](https://www.aiche.org/resources/publications/cep/2018/june/introduction-deep-learning-part-1)
- This first part of a two part series covers DL applications in chemical engineering along with clarifying existing nomenclature
#### II: [Excel Spreadsheet Tricks](https://www.aiche.org/chenected/series/excel-tips-chemical-engineers?utm_source=Blog&utm_medium=Post&utm_campaign=ChEnected)
- A fascinating series of posts highlighting ways to simplify working in Excel, when the latest programming languages are just not worth the effort!!

##### Discussion [IGNORE for NL]
###### DL Concepts
- Machine learning and deep learning can be intimidating for ChemE's who didn't have much CS exposure during schooling
- This is a good aiche article on the overall concepts of what deep learning is, how it works and most importantly a few cases of how it's been applied in chemical engineerin thus far
- I couldn't find an article on lower level machine learning techniques that would probably be less intimidating and more practical for someone looking to grow their tool kit but that would also be a good find
