## Additional Notes
• Connects two ppl who motivate each other to achieve their goals. Key is creating human accountability (to help ppl block out distractions and keep them on track)
○ What Khan Academy and the other online learning platforms are missing is human interaction. Like Tinder but not romantic. Omegle, but without the ducks.
○ App matches up ppl with similar goals
○ Purpose of Striver is to push ppl out of their comfort zone when it comes to learning new things and gaining new experiences
○ You learn efficiently about the practical aspects of a subject/field of study/area of interest. A timed challenge forces you to approach the task in the most efficient way possible, cutting corners whenever possible to achieve maximum essential functionality. GoalBuds is especially effective for learning by doing/making a product
• **Specifications**
○ Requires both ppl to be present (Website better than app, needs access to internet for streaming)
§ System can stay anonymous when it comes to names, age, address etc. Only data displayed will be language and data/files required for accountability system
○ Includes challenge generator (classified by topics e.g. programming)
○ Allow self-created challenges or publish to community
○ Use screensharing or screenshot maker and voice chat for accountability
○ Time extension button (both players have to accept)
○ System suggests resources for each project
• **Specs of challenges**
○ Skill-based? Best if product oriented and somehow assessable for accountabilities sake (e.g. a sound file, pic, file)
○ Cooler would be more open-ended things like "make friends/talk to a stranger in the train"
---- Include challenge generator that suggests fun challenges without required accountability. Can share to community/post to fellow strivers (friends on platform) if so desired. Turns into a story sharing platform that way as well.)
---- Sponsorships from companies/education orgs that provide programs (digital or real life courses) useful to create projects similar to challenge
------- Provide programs with limited trial for challenge, then offer discount link to buy software with link commission = monetisation). Write message to users that we get commission, it's helping pay our bills
---- Spotlight author of each resource section (Preparing for battle/Prep)
• Goal Jam / Enter the Arena
○ Timer edition with competitive feel to achieve tasks/mini goals/step goals in limited time
• Example challenges
○ 1h voice acting (provide guide vids/materials for accents etc.)
○ Invent a civilization and write about its lore (fantasy/creativity). Write a play about smthn (suggest topics for users to write about?). Start with creative writing challenges.
○ Create a language
○ Encrypt a message
○ 1h photoshop
○ 1h make a funny movie/trailer with imovie
○ Memorize/read smth (report on it to Goalbud? Nah, boring like hw)
○ Draw a picture (digital or real life)
Use web analytics to assess success of website
https://shanebarker.com/blog/web-analytics-tools/
- The point is to learn and create something fun, not to produce a polished product. Problem of ppl stealing each other's work? Have a section on honesty on website: each user should use platform in good faith.... Have users rate each others creation??
- Users should be able to communicate. It is a platform to meet ppl interested in learning about the same thing.
- Screenshare through web interface? What can do with only a text editor? Point is that there are many ways to create a product. Shouldn't be limited to a single platform or editor. Flexibility of sharing through screen share. Can use recommended programs or anything else.
