    # User Testing - aim for 30 minutes to an hour per user test - each particicant gets a t-shirt and stickers - find the schedule on https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1deYQZ2EpRIBluzpjJ0OzXNxuFSk8mYG-TuJepo-3Y0Y/edit#gid=0 ## Introduce yourself and explain what is going to happen * Hi, our names are x and y and we are going to ask you a few questions about a new website we are building for a project called Solid. * This should take half an hour. * There are no right or wrong answers we are interested in your thoughts about this website so please do feel free to stop us and share anything that crops up. If something isn't clear then it's certainly not on you it's because we need to improve the website, so don't hesitate to correct it. * Feel free to think out loud and let us know your immediate thoughts * We'll use the outcomes of this conversation to improve the website. We'll use initials in our notes * Do you mind if we record the session? * If yes, start recording audio (Mitzi's and Nicolas' laptop). * (Added by Vincent): Try to answer from your own point of view, not of what you think other people would like/want ## Get a sense of the profile of the person doing the use test * What are you studying and what year are you in? * Have you built in JavaScript? * Have you built a web or mobile app? * Have you got experience on Linked Data? * Have you heard about Solid? If so, can you explain in your own words what it is? ## The aim is to understand in what order people would like to digist the information on the Solid website * Pass the person a shuffled stack of cards with the names of each of of the pages of the main page * Ask them to group the cards in a way that you feel is logical * Take a photo of the way the cards are ordered * repeat for the developer menu ## The aim is to make sure that people landing on solidproject.org effectively understand what Solid is * (use Mitzi's and Nicolas' computer) Record which computer you are using * Ask the person doing the user test to browse solidproject.org and close the window and return when finished. Start a timer as soon as they begin to browse. * Record how they moved the mouse before clicking * Record what they first clicked on * Close the browser and ask them to describe Solid * Ask them to share their first unfiltered impressions that come to mind * Tick the following if they mention these key terms; * Solid is an standard * Solid is an open standard * Describes how to split apps from storage from identification * Allows the user to take the data generated along * Pod is where a user stores their data * Anyone can develop/implement Solid * Anyone can publish identity providers/ Pod Providers/ apps * Anyone can mint WebIDs * Anyone can store data in a Pod * Anyone can use apps ## The aims is to ensure that there are easy to find clear instructions describing to developers how to implement Solid * Open up solidproject.org * Tell the person "Imagine you work at a new company that has a todo list app that does not store anything yet. Your boss wants you to make it save todos to Solid Pods." * Where would you look for how to do this? (This needn’t necessarily be on this website.) * Can you roughly describe how you imagine a web app would send data to a user’s Pod, i.e. how Solid could work? It’s OK if not. * Record where they click first, second thid and how many clicks it takes for them to get to solidproject.org/for-developers * Record if and where they get stuck/ confused * Direct the person to the app tutorial and ask them to assess outloud what they like/ don't like/ what is clear/ unclear? * Ask if there is any information or documentation they missed. ## Ask for unguided input - Any further input? - Would you like a T-shirt? ## The aim is to ensure there is a standard describing how to build Pods, apps, and identification in such a way that users can conveniently switch between the components and take the data generated along. * Direct the person to solidproject.org/use * Ask the user to get a WebID and Pod at solid.community * Ask the user to switch the WebID to inrupt.net but keep the Pod on solid.community * Ask the user to switch their Pod from solid.community to inrupt.net * Ask the user to use an app of their choice from the app listing * Ask the user to stop giving that app acess to their data * Ask the user to use the same data on another app
