There is another world that a few of us have explored or have the skill and interest to do so. That world consists of almost ¾ of our planet. We are just excited about the small part we got and unknown to that bigger one. As the author said, Scuba Diving is the doorway to that underwater world and here he brought us some of the beauties through his experience of that world. So have a jump on it and get a taste of that world.

It’s fun and easy to go to an already attractive museum or spot to click some “aesthetic” and “Instagram verified” pictures; everyone loves to participate when it comes to such places and events. What’s not so fun, is having to be out there under the disgusting heat on the daily, pushing traffic and walking through a stampede of people who are all in a rush. Sometimes it looks and feels like Dhaka is headed into a death spiral; things just keep on getting worse out here on the streets.

Yet, I feel like my job is to head out there into the *storm* with my trusty ole phone and at least try to make this unsightly and defiled side of Dhaka look amply colorful and *forgivable*.

So, here we are...

A government-related work took me two weeks to complete.

They give you a form and ask you to fill it and come back later, tell you to do a transaction that takes a few working days to complete the whole process till you get it done, and the rest of the work then takes up a few more days to do. There *is* a shortcut to minimise the whole situation, which is unethical and needs some extra cash. I was too pissed with the whole thing and realised how easy things are in this space we are now. Well, we have to trust the technology too, which is hard for our previous generation.

When banking or mobile banking was introduced, people used to fear them; after all, being cashless and trusting the electronic numbers were pretty troublesome. Banks gave us some papers or documents, whereas mobile banking did not, but we did have some accounts that contained our name, number, and other details. Then there is the crypto world where one can easily go anonymous and create wallets worth storing as much as assets they wish to store. You won't be getting a statement that contains your name, number, or personal details. Well, it does contain some delicate details, but those are beyond the understanding of a general person who doesn't know about all this. Have you ever thought about the seed phrases, a few words, that are the key to all of your assets? What if someone gets hold of them? Boom, everything you own is *gone,* hehe. This is the security concern we face ourselves.

If I had asked my mom to deposit some money as an asset on a crypto wallet and hand over the seed phrases with a URL to that wallet as an owner, she would have surely slapped me as if I were joking. Well, people will adapt to this change too. We, ourselves will bring forth the change, slowly but steadily.

Each of our countries has its own horror folk tales which have been told from generation to generation. Bangladesh is not an exception from that and as our country's nature is full of trees, jungle, and rivers, it creates horror features in its own way. But as our society is getting modernized, the upcoming generations are getting detached from these native tales. So to revive those local tales, Nuhash Humayun took the helm and successfully produced a great horror mythological anthology series called "Pett Kata Shaw".

The show is based on four different stories which have four different plots. With the stories, Nuhash tried to go from funny to intense story mode.
The first story "*Ei Building e Meye Nished*" is based on "mecho-bhoot". Here, the dialogues of the main actor, it tries to imply that one always needs to face one's fear. Only by then, you can handle your situation. But the way he handled it in the last scene, was not expected at all.

"*Misthi Kichu*", the second story is about the myth in our sweet shop. The best thing here was the main protagonist's acting. Chanchal Choudury did an outstanding job which successfully attracted the audience. The same goes for other cast members too. Here, Afjal Hossain is portrayed as Djinn (mainly Satan), and the plot twisting part was that Satan was thrown out from heaven for his pride and ego, and the same fate was portrayed for the protagonist too.

The third one, "*Loke Bole*" is literally the best episode with a perfect combination of suspense, horror, thrill, videography, and sound design. It starts with a fantastic plot and the way every story gets interconnected, will blow your mind. For puppetry, Dr. Rashid Harun (professor in the Department of Drama, Jahangirnagar University) is the best researcher of Bangladeshi Puppetry, and bringing his production team for this episode is the best decision I should say. Also, I am surprised to see Morshed Mishu as the male protagonist because he is a renowned cartoonist and this was his debut in acting! Still seeing his performance, none can predict that.

Finally, the last episode, "*Nishir Dak*" is about a voice from the sea, which called people for death. In the last scene, the main actor (Pritom) handed over his duty to his fellow mate to solve all those mysteries from the previous three episodes. To me, this one and the 1st episode were a little disappointing for their storyline and rush end.

But I really have to appreciate their background music. Each episode has specific musical instruments like for Misti kichu, Harmonium was the base instrument and ghungur and tabla were for loke bole. These local musical instruments were successful in developing a chilling environment for the audience.

Still, it's great to see local childhood horror myths as a film because, wherever we want to see something for goosebumps, we have to go for foreign movies like Annabelle or Chucky. And now, we have our one to enjoy! It was really needed to bring out our folk tales for our younger generation as these elements are fading away by the manga and webtoon. I believe this show will give them something to talk about on our culture! Also, I really have high hopes for Nuhash and am eagerly waiting for his upcoming work!

কিন্তু তবুও, কেবলই টিকিয়া থাকায় কোনো সার্থকতা পাইনা।
সত্যি বলতে চেষ্টা করেছি অনেক। তেলাপোকার মত। এতে সুবিধা অনেক। এমনকি কায়িকশ্রমের তেমন বালাই থাকেনা। দুশ্চিন্তা থাকেনা, সাত পাঁচ হিসাব কষতে হয়না। কিন্তু তবুও...

এই যেমন ধরুন, রহিম মোল্লার সরষের কারখানায় যখন চাকরি করতাম, বড় মায়া লাগতো লোকটির জন্য। সে গ্যালন গ্যালন তেলের মালিক অথচ তার কিনা এক ব্যামো যার উপশম মোসাহেবি-মালিশ! কিন্তু স্বেচ্ছায়, স্বতস্ফুর্তভাবে সেভাবে তেল মেখে দেবার কেউ নেই, আহা বেচারা! মুখ ফুটে সে কথা তার বলারও জো নেই কাউকে, লজ্জার ব্যাপার!
***তারপর কে যেনো ছড়িয়ে দিল তেলের সাথে মোসাহেবি মিশিয়ে তেল মালিশ করলে মোল্লার আরাম হয়।*** তারই তেলে, হালকা করে মোসাহেবি চটকে মেখে অনেকেই তেল দেবার জন্য লাইন ধরে প্রায়ই।

অনেক বছর পর রহিম মোল্লার মনে হলো যাক, তেলের কারখানা গড়ার সার্থকতা পেলুম আজ। তেল মেখে যাবার বেলায় রহিম মোল্লার দেয়া কেজি খানেক আশীর্বাদ, ক'লিটার তেলও মুফতে মিলে যায়। এতে গাছেরও খাওয়া যায়, তলারও কুড়ানো যায়। কেউ কিচ্ছুটি মনে করেনা।

কিন্তু সে সহজলভ্য তেল আমার সংগ্রহ করা হয় না!
আমার নাক উঁচা। সে নাক নিয়ে থাকি বড় জ্বালায় থাকি। নীচু হয়ে কিছু করতে গেলেই এদিক সেদিক বাড়ি খায়! সুতরাং সে নাক নিয়ে আমার আর তৈল মর্দন প্রতিযোগিতায় যাওয়া হয়না। তায় আর কি করা, ঠনঠনে বোধদয় চেঁছে, হামানদিস্তায় নিয়ে ঘুটে সেটা দু পয়সায় বেচে, বাজার থেকে তেল কিনে খাই।

রহিম মোল্লার খাস লোক ঝুনো মিয়া। ঝুনো মিয়া ঠুয়া দিতে বড় পছন্দ করে। তেল মালিশের দিনক্ষণ ঠিক করে দেয় ঝুনো মিয়া। এই কর্মে সে বেশ আনন্দ পায়। ইচ্ছেমতো ঠুয়া দিতে পারে। যাকে যত ইচ্ছে ঠুয়া দেয়। কেউ রা করলে তার সিরিয়াল পিছিয়ে যায়। সবাই এজন্য হাসিমনে, মাথা নীচু করে ঠুয়া নেয়। মন্দিরের পুরোহিত থেকে দেবতার প্রসাদ নেবার মত।

ঝুনো মিয়া দাওয়ায় বসে দাঁত খিলতে খিলাতে ভাবে সে এক মাজার দিবে তার নামে। **ঠুয়া বাবার মাজার!**
অথবা আরো কিছু পয়সা হলে, ঠুয়াতে বৈচিত্র্য আনার জন্য সে একটা ভাতা'র ব্যবস্থা করবে। নাম হবে **ঠুবিখা।** ঠুয়ার বিনিময়ে খাদ্য!

**শহর ঘুরে এসেছে কদিন আগে রহিম মোল্লা। সাথে এনেছে নতুন এক সখ। শুধু টাকা-পয়সা হলেই হবেনা শিল্প ও সংস্কৃতি মনা হবারও দরকার আছে।**
ভাবলো যাত্রা পালার আয়োজন করবে। রহিম মোল্লার এই খবর শুনে গণি গায়েন জানায় তার কাছে শিল্প আছে, বিক্রি করতে আগ্রহী। গণি গায়েনের সাথে আরো কয়েকজন যোগ দিল। যারা এককালে অ-আ-ক-খ শিখেছিল তাকে এখন গদ্য, পদ্য নামে বেচতে পারবে ভেবে গণি মিয়ার দল খুশি হলো।

রহিম মোল্লা তৈল মর্দন তালিকায় আমার নাম নেই বলে সে কিঞ্চিৎ গোসসা পুষে আছে মনে। কিন্তু এহেন শিল্প চর্চা হবে শুনে আমিও উঁচু নাক নিয়ে একটা পাঠ করতে গেলাম। পাঠে রহিম মোল্লা আনন্দ পেলো। এতে তার গোসসা খানিকটা ধরে এলো। ব্যাপারটা ঝুনো মিয়ার কিংবা গণি গায়েনের কারোরই পছন্দ হলোনা। যদিও তাদের একেকজনের রোষের কারণ একেক জায়গায় কিন্তু রোষ দু পক্ষেরই সমান। **কারো পাকা ধানে মই না দিয়েও সকলের আমি চোখের বালি। সকলেই দেখলাম স্ব স্ব নাক কেটে আমার যাত্রা ভাংতে আসছে বারংবার।**

এদিকে বাড়িতে শান্তি আর তার মা বড়ই বিরক্ত আমার এই যত দোষ নন্দ ঘোষ প্যাঁচে পড়ায়। তাদের এসব অযাচিত ঝামেলা একদম ভালো লাগেনা। এসব রান্না করা যায়না। আমাকে ধমকে দেয় এক এসব অখাদ্য ঘরে না আনার জন্য। আমার আর কি করা, তারাইতো ঘরের আইন আদালত।

যেহেতু গেঁয়ো যোগী ভিখ পায় না, তাই আমি আবারও আমার উঁচু নাক নিয়ে অল্প দূরের বাজারেই বেচি, চড়া দামে বাজার থেকেই কিনি।
শান্তি আর শান্তির মা তাতেই তুষ্ট। ওরা তুষ্ট হলে আমিও শান্তিতে থাকি।
রাত হলে আমাদের ছোট্ট জানালার ফাঁক গলে চাঁদের আলো এসে পড়ে। শান্তির মা আরেকটু কাছে ঘেঁষে আসে উষ্ণতায়। আমি তার মাথায় বিলি কেটে বলি *"তুমি থাকলে আমার আর কিছু লাগবেনা বুঝলে।"* শান্তির মা হাসে। আমি না দেখতে পেলেও অনুভব করতে পারি।

হঠাৎ সে বলে আমাদের শান্তির বিয়ের সময় আমরা কিন্তু বড় অনুষ্ঠান করবো। সবাইকে দাওয়াত দিব। ঝুনো মিয়া, করিম মোল্লা, গণি গায়েন সবাই। আমি হাসি।
**আমার অনেক সুখ।**
এই সুখ পৃথিবী দিয়েও কেনা যাবেনা। শান্তি'র মার জন্য আমি সবকিছু বিসর্জন দেই হাসি মুখে। কারণ শান্তি আর ওর মা আছে বলেই আমাকে তেলাপোকা হতে হয়নি। আমি শুঁড় নাড়িয়ে দু'দিন বাঁচলেও তাতেই আমি তৃপ্ত!

The good life is guarded by sentinels of progress. There is more and always more to desire at the cost of the unspeakable pain of the majority. Niceties succeed necessity. And this is what made us so ugly, uglier than the devil itself or that goblin with bad breath.

Our neurons intensify with the child's scream during mutilation, we get a boner seeing a mother breastfeeding her baby and even maintaining privacy— *what has happened to us?*

What has happened to us that our manhood tries to escape the hideout and plays peek-a-boo seeing the trace of sweats below the breast line of a woman walking to her destination all alone.

*The fire of desire— it has burnt us alive*, the sketch you see walking, talking, consoling the victim is the embodiment of a ruthless murderer who suffocates in the presence of light but claps when darkness sets sails in the ocean of greed.

*Things will change— He said, sent His child to end the misery, to spread kindness.*

Alas! What has happened to us?!

Devoid of selflessness, it's a race for the cruelty we have delved in. Soaked in the blood of innocence, we have lured fairness into the cave of uncertainty, caged it into the hole of infinity.

Fear not, He has the power to end this misery. His will speaks kindness, you will get drenched in it— hold your horses, you will not miss the bliss!

He who comes, a prophet; hopes for the masses to alleviate the general societal stigma— but, bringing with him death and destruction. More and more lives are better for fewer and fewer still.

Happiness— once an easy luxury, is nowadays rendered obsolete. Cruelty is proud and admirable. Fast and steady is the new trend. To what end is all this magnificent and colossal enterprise?

*Hark!* Lend your ears—what do you hear?

The same old cry of a dying whale? Hyenas feasting on lion cubs?

The promise has been fulfilled! Things have changed! His promise has found a way to shed light upon reality. Oh, really?

*Where? When? How?*

Yeah— things have changed.

Ergo…

They have changed unexpectedly.

Mother, Father, strangers and friends weren’t nice to me and with my friends who aren’t nice to strangers. Strangers who aren’t nice to their parents for the same reason.

Vengeance is befitting to this existence.

Let’s all suffer. Let’s disown and detest anyone who isn’t suffering. Let’s suffer for the sake of suffering. Let it hurt, burn like wildfire ablaze and end it all in ashes. A good part of our life is thus gone up in smoke.
