### **Homework before meeting your mentor**
**Project Lead (mentee) will:**
1. Take a Self-Assessment SURVEY and share the outcome with their mentors during the call.

* Introductions - get to know each other

* Andrea:
* Mentees, tell your mentor about yourself
* Nicky: I've worked in a variety of roles in biodiversity informatics; my most recent move was from technical software development to research. I've used this change as a way to explore how we can translate standard software development practices (automation, revision control, dependency management, continuous integration) to open research management. I've experimented with automating work using revision control (git), dependency management
* Set your overall goals for your project
* Building a community access to the resources to describe div. is unequal
* How to setup the project in the cohort
* Technical aspects
* Where do you want your project to be by the end of the program (in 15 weeks)? Possible areas to think about:
* Community: Contributors / Maintainers / Members
* Product (Launch / MVP / Feature)
* Resources / Sustainability (Governance / Funding / Gifts)

* Community: Currently from the institution + collaborators.

* Draft a brief **vision statement** using your personal and project goals. Please use this document as guide for this assignment:

* You might address:
* The problem you’re trying to solve.
* How you think openness and open leadership will help solve it.
* How meeting your personal goals will help you and help solve the problem.
* How meeting your cultural goals for your community, organization, or project will help solve the problem.
* Add your vision statement to your repo by uploading it or copy and pasting it into your README document.
* Anything else?
* Personas and pathways seems like a noval way to look into the problem!
* Design for shraing wsa marked!
* Knowledging contributtions is crucial!
* The difference between Open be design and Open by default!
* The score is on the [GitHub Repo](https://github.com/nickynicolson/ols6) created by Nicky.
* Some points should be taking in consideration (e.g. limits).
* Exercise for documentation is good practice!
* Adding vision and what support the nentee would like to get from mentors
