MagicLearning believes that it helps you do well in learning activities. It is best to teach study techniques to children from the first years of Primary Education to acquire these skills little by little and, thus, avoid school failure. The success of study techniques is based on order, constancy, and the creation of habits that allow the child to act with better preparation for specific assigned tasks. What are the advantages of learning these study methods? - They will allow you to understand better: each technique is designed to absorb the concepts to be studied as much as possible. - You will save time: each of these techniques seeks to optimize the time dedicated to studying. They achieve this by focusing only on what is most important when looking. - You will automate the process of studying: when you master the learning techniques, you will not stop to think about how to look. You will identify the best way to learn the material and apply the appropriate method. # Types of study techniques: ### 1. Planning and organization. -Write down in a planner the dates of exams and assignments due. -Dedicate a few minutes every day to study or review subjects. -Establish a realistic and consistent study schedule. -Always use the same study place and ensure that it has adequate environmental conditions. -Take breaks of a few minutes to relax and concentrate better. ### 2. Reading and comprehension For a text to be assimilated, it is necessary to understand it but to do it well. It is required to read it correctly and paying attention. There are two types of reading: -Pre-reading is a first quick reading, which serves as an exploration to find out what the text is about. - Comprehensive reading: a second reading in which you have to read carefully and understand each paragraph. In this way, the ideas of the text are internalized. ### 3. Selecting the critical information After having understood what I have read, it is necessary to select the primary and secondary ideas of the text. It can be done using the underlining technique. Thanks to this technique, we can locate and capture the main ideas, which favors active study and helps incomprehension. The moment you underline, you are already distinguishing between the key ideas or words from the secondary ones. In addition, with practice, you are enhancing your ability to synthesize. In general, you tend to underline sentences that summarize ideas. They can be at the beginning, in the middle, or at the end of a text. It is also beneficial to underline examples that you know will help you understand the subject better or keywords that will help you remember ideas better. The outline: it is the graphic expression of the underlining that contains synthesized main ideas, secondary ideas, and text details. They can be in brackets or square brackets, developed from a general statement or a radial scheme to relate ideas. The summary: it is an expository text that we create from another reader. It consists of stating briefly, clearly, and faithfully what the author of a text displayed. It gives an account of the global sense of the text. ### 4. Memorization and evaluation To retain what we have learned, we must make a tremendous mental effort. Storing information in memory is not a simple process. Therefore, it is convenient to use specific mnemotechnical rules or simple tricks that facilitate memorization. In addition, as a last step in the study, it is necessary to evaluate oneself to check what has been learned. And, if necessary, continue reviewing.
