# Step-by-step guide on how extract music from the [Old World](https://www.gog.com/game/old_world) game.

1. Download [ww2ogg](https://github.com/hcs64/ww2ogg/releases).
2. Download [ReVorb](https://github.com/ItsBranK/ReVorb).
3. Copy all `*.wem` files and `SoundbanksInfo.xml` from `[PATH_TO_INSTALLED_GAME]\OldWorld_Data\StreamingAssets\Audio\GeneratedSoundBanks\Windows\` into any other directory elsewhere, it will be our [WORKING_FOLDER].
4. Extract `ww2ogg` and `revorb` to this working folder.
5. Create new file `BatchConverter.bat` in working folder with code:

6. Create new file `BatchRenamer.ps1` in working folder with code:

7. Run `BatchConverter.bat`, it will convert `WEM` files to playable `OGG` files. But they still has meaningless numeric names.
8. Now run `BatchRenamer.ps1` via `PowerShell`:

9. That is, now you have named files. Naming is not well enough, but track title is always there, sometimes even artist name too.
### Bug
The game contains a bug, at least in the version I've been working with. Specifically, the playlist includes two tracks by [Charbel Rouhana](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charbel_Rouhana), ["Samai Rast"](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=44TutNV0w4k) and ["Rewind"](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zwMKOq1lZXs), which are not playing in the game. Furthermore, the relative files don't exist in the game assets folder, and they are not mentioned in the SoundBanks XML either. So, I just downloaded that tracks from the Internet.
### Other songs
After renaming, 47 files remain unaffected. For instance, "1052467844" (Gracie and Rachel - Let It Out) is one of them. This song sound out of place in the historical game setting. Some tracks are too chaotic for practical use. 24 of them are full duplcates. Some remains have different arrange or length. It's possible that these are drafts, mistakes (for example, Gracie and Rachel have a song named "Let" included in the game's playlist; perhaps the editor confused them), or rejected songs that were removed from the database but not from the game folder. Do what you want with them.
