Minute meeting 16/01/23

Anton

Mert

  • Working on ~superconducting_circuit_diode mostly. By now, we have a closed form solution for an ideal diode. Right now, we are working on optimizing actual setups.
  • Finally our manuscript with Alexander and Inanc is on arXiv :tada:. Preparing for submission this week.
  • Working with Sebastian on ~gfactor_in_SiGe_nanowires. We are investigating how perturbations modify the Rashba coefficient.
  • Working with Johanna on ~majorana-billiards. We are investigating the limit in which we start to observe caustics in p-wave topological superconductors.
  • Just started Dutch course for beginners.

Sebastian

Johanna

  • Have continued with the ~localization project with Anton and Helene where it's mostly coding and thinking about functions
  • Am also slowly making some progress with ~qah-strained-graphene together with Antonio and Kostas, finally got the correct k-space settings :tada: and are now going to try and get different initial guesses converging to the same thing.
  • Have also been working with Mert on ~majorana-billiards where we produced prety cool plots lately but are still trying to decipher the mystery of the caustics.
  • Last Tinkering Thursday started working together with Antonio on an idea where we have a channel for all the coolest/funniest/non-sensical plots, and then using a voting system determine which we post on the quantum tinkerer twitter/website gallery, so likely will be able to finish this at the next Tinkering Thursday
  • Also kind of started discussing a project with Dima from Leiden and some external collaborators to do with Networks and TBG

Sathish

  • Analysing results on the geometry optimization of Majorana trijunction in ~Trijunction design project and started writing.
  • Fixed comments from the referee on ~Spin_qubit_design manuscript. Yet to write a response to Scipost.
  • Wrapping up my PhD and planned to start writing from February.

Michael

  • Teaching
  • Spent a lot of time helping to publish old data from the Kouwenhoven group

Rik

  • Got some first result of ~scatterer at surface that looks like a Shiba dispersion.
  • For a part of the spectrum the dispersion looks however still off. Traced this down to peaks to in the GF spectrum. Still working on charaterising these peaks and finding how to deal with them. For now it looks like peaks are undersampled.
  • Did some pen and paper calculation for two-photon resonance in ESR-STM
  • Had contact with Korea: for now project starting date set to 8th of May.

Antonio

  • Wrapping up the paper with Josep on electron focusing in BLG.
  • Helping Valla's group on the design of hybrid graphene vortex design.
  • Did a few changes on ~effective-many-body to use the basis in which the groundstate energy depends on superconducting phase of JJ.
  • Preparing replies to the referees on ~nanoribbon-spin-devices and arXiv:2204.05078.
  • Had a quick discussion with Johanna to plan more outreach stuff for the group.
  • Disussing other projects such as ~qah-strained-graphene, ~scatterer-at-surface, and a bit on ~disordered-wire.

Helene

  • The ~statistical-skin-effect manuscript is ready for arxiv :crying_cat_face: (<- tears of joy)
  • Planning and writing the ~isotropic-3d-ti manuscript. We are wondering what the physical realization of our model is.

Chunxiao

  • Busy with job application for a couple of weeks.
  • Helping the experimentalists with some conductance calculations of the minimal Kitaev chain in a different parameter regime.
  • Formulating the project idea with Juan and Sathish.

Kostas

  • Work on disorder wire, tried to make my results more verifiable with the introduction of virtual leads to kwant sytems
  • trying to finish up dask-quantumtinkerer

Juan

  • Starting this week the art of presenting science.
  • Wrapping up ~trijunction-design and looking forward to start new projects such as ~andreev-fermions or the one presented today.
  • Attending a school about statistical field theories in mid-february in Italy.
