## Please describe the projects that you worked on this term.
- I have been developing a collaborative LaTeX editor for iOS: ColLaTeX.
- Users can create accounts and documents, share documents with other users, find shared documents and edit them individually. Users can also change a document's settings if they are the owner and change their own profile settings.
- Users can compile any .tex document they have access to and display as a PDF.
- When sharing a document, the document's owner can search users using a autocomplete-search feature.
- The editor also comes with syntax highlighting for LaTeX commands, comments, and $-math mode.
- Users can add image attachments to their document, which can then be referenced in the document body.
- Users can 'unshare' documents with themselves.
## How close was it to your original project plan?
It has followed very closely to my project plan so far. A few unforseen setbacks happened, but they did not delay the overall schedule. One example is that the original API I used to compile the documents had some limitations in terms of length and attachment, which had to be overcoome.
## What was delivered?
The app is as functional as I had hoped it would be. All of the features above have been implemented already; my next steps will mostly include finding a beter PDF Viewer, make the editing enviornment more visually appealing, and add general polish.
## Was it sufficiently challenging and interesting?
Building the app was certainly interesting! I had no mobile development experience, so bulding an app to (near) completion has kept me motivated. It has also been sufficiently challenging as deciding what would be the best approach to a particular scenario was not usually obvious or trivial. For instance, when trying to overcome the limitations of the original API, my initial plan of attack was to attempt to create a custom backend server; yet, ultimately, I ended up managing to work with a different API.
## Were you proud of the work you produced?
Defintetly! For one, I am proud of how productive these last weeks have been. I am also proud of how functional and responsive the app is at thus point. Unfortunately, I do not have an iPhone or a Macbook, so to continue developing the app and eventually use it would be unlikely, but I would otherwise be interested in doing as much. Nevertheless, the experience I have gotten over the last 6 weeks has been priceless, and working independently on this app is a big part of that!
