Prototype! :::info The goal of this phase is to define & materialize 3 relevant product proposals according to the subject given. ::: :::danger Your prototype must be a physical object : diagrams, images, drawings and 3D files etc. will not be considered as prototypes. ::: ## Define & prototype 3 proposals ### Proposal n°1 : Emergency Housing search terminals ##### Actors :::warning - We are project developers. We want to help the homeless by using smart grids. - The terminals would be accessible all year round. - Associations that help the homeless, local communities and town halls can help in this project. ::: ##### Context :::warning - Currently, many people are sleeping on the streets. Housing search terminals are used to help the homeless. They make it easier for these people to find housing and thus improve their standard of living. In addition, these terminals facilitate the proper distribution of homeless people in collective housing. - The terminals would be accessible throughout the year. - These terminals were located at bus stops, towards tourist offices, towards town halls. ::: ##### Features :::warning - The homeless could go to the bollards, look on the map to see which collective dwelling is the closest to him. - The terminal is freely accessible on the street. So all people in need can use it. All you have to do is click on the screen and look at the points that locate the collective dwellings and the one that locates the terminal. These bollards are operated by solar panels. ::: ##### Usage scenario Describe use cases How will users access your service? Describe scenario of utilisation, and add a drawing for each steps : :::warning **Initial context:** ![](https://i.imgur.com/uH6TbyZ.jpg) People in need go to the nearest kiosk to find accommodation. ::: :::warning **Action 1:** ![](https://i.imgur.com/sng3118.jpg) Just click on the screen, look at the point that locates the terminal and look at the surrounding points that represent the collective dwellings to know which is the nearest. ::: :::warning **Action 2:** ![](https://i.imgur.com/aTB3SV8.jpg) Then, you just have to click on the property you are interested in. ::: :::warning **Action 3:** ![](https://i.imgur.com/hVuGteL.jpg) By clicking on the point of accommodation, you get the exact address, a telephone number to contact them and a route to take. ::: :::warning **Resolving situation:** This research station will be present at bus stops in the city centre, at the town hall and at the tourist office. It will allow homeless people to have easy access to kiosks and therefore to housing. Thus the homeless will have access to an itinerary to reach the accommodation and their telephone number. ::: ##### Benchmark List concurrents and relative projects and describe how they relate or differentiate to your project :::warning The list below are indirect competitors of our project but do not have the same target : * Homeless Plus, http://homelessplus.com : this application can help the sdf as our project * Google Maps, https://www.google.fr/maps/preview : this site is related to our project since it allows to create itineraries just like our terminal * Velib : self-service bicycle terminals are linked to our project since, just like in our project, terminals are used ::: ##### Ressources We are expecting existing tutorials that can help you to materialize your proposal. You can search on youtube.com, instructables.com, thingiverse.com, etc. :::warning * https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jY81QYSn_Bk * https://www.tinkercad.com/things/dDuC7rIGFy6-borne-d-arcade-en-pixels ::: *** ##### Prototype description :::danger Your prototype must be **a physical object** : images, drawings, diagrams and 3D files will not be considered as prototypes ::: Describe here the materials and tools you've used to build your prototype. You can use rough materials, such as paper, cardboard, clay, lego or repurpose existing objects. :::warning - Sheet of paper - Scotch - Cardboard - Scissors - Plastic waste bin ::: ##### Prototype pictures :::warning ![](https://i.imgur.com/pG7V0cp.jpg) ![](https://i.imgur.com/uHOvwM3.jpg) ![](https://i.imgur.com/Nl1ReAb.jpg) ::: Insert at least one main picture and two detail pictures of your prototype. :warning: **Drawings, illustrations and other images are not allowed.** ##### Prototype video Use your smartphone to make a short video (30s) showing your prototype, and post it on the Slack channel of your group. * * * ### Proposal n°2 : Application connected to a badge with a secure bag with padlock ##### Actors :::warning - We are project developers. We want to help the homeless by using smart grids. - this product is intended for homeless people or people in very precarious situations - They will be in partnership with solidarity associations for the homeless and with the various municipal structures acting for the homeless. Create an object that protects the business of the homeless and allows them to find housing. ::: ##### Context :::warning Why? To improve and facilitate the lives of homeless people. To make it easier for them to find accommodation, meals or care. When? the final project can be accessible during the year. Where? Where? Our project will help the homeless on the street, in help centres and our bag may also be located in administrative structures. ##### Features :::warning -The offer offered by this product is a security offer for the personal belongings of homeless people This offer is possible thanks to a bag belt that allows you to store and secure the personal belongings of the homeless person against theft and the outside environment ::: ##### Usage scenario Describe use cases How will users access your service? Describe scenario of utilisation, and add a drawing for each steps : :::warning **Initial context:** A homeless person can retrieve his bag from administrative structures (town halls, etc.) and choose a personal code. This badge will help to inform where the homeless person is and the number of people in each accommodation. ![](https://i.imgur.com/6NzUAab.jpg) ::: :::warning **Action 1:** His bag contains a badge that allows him to have access to the various accommodations, meals or treatments. It also allows him to safely store his belongings. ![](https://i.imgur.com/CY3AN3H.jpg) :: :::warning **Action 2:** In addition to the bag, an application has been designed. When the person opens the application they are facing a plane. The application shows them where they are and the different dwellings nearby. ![](https://i.imgur.com/PjKXx2P.png) ::: :::warning **Action 3:** The person then indicates what type of accommodation they are looking for: -accommodation -solidarity restaurant -care facility Once the type of accommodation has been chosen, all the solutions in the vicinity are presented, the distance is indicated and the number of places left. (number of places known thanks to the badge). ![](https://i.imgur.com/hpJmVea.png) ::: :::warning Our bag protects the belongings of the homeless because it is sealed with a padlock and can even be carried in the shower (waterproof) and find them a place to stay thanks to the integrated badge. This badge, linked to an application that allows the homeless to locate themselves and find accommodation nearby. ::: ##### Benchmark List concurrents and relative projects and describe how they relate or differentiate to your project :::warning * http://homelessplus.com/ this application can help the sdf as our project * https://www.entourage.social/ this application can help the sdf as our project * https://easybaggy.com/?msclkid=0eb881bbd4b7115db9f4dc5b2d6a84fb * ... ::: ##### Ressources We are expecting existing tutorials that can help you to materialize your proposal. You will present it to the jury during the final evaluation alongside the early prototypes made in the previous phase. ::: :::success A good prototype is self-explainatory : the user must be able to understand how it works without instructions or user manual. It must be fully functional and sufficiently strong to withstand several demonstrations in real conditions of use. ::: :::danger For this phase it is **mandatory** to use at least : - The **laser cutter** and/or the **3D printers** to build your physical “shell” - **Arduino** electronics and/or **Adobe XD** to make your prototype interactive. ::: :warning: **Keep in mind that for the end evalutation the prototype will be the only way to communicate your project to the jury!** ___ ### Ressources Here is a short list of useful websites and softwares for prototyping things. :::success - [instructables.com](https://www.instructables.com/): A great website with tutorials for (almost) everything - [makezine.com](https://makezine.com/projects/): A well known magazine with tons of cool projects - [thingiverse.com](https://www.thingiverse.com/) The world's largest 3D printing commmunity, with loads of projects - [hackaday.com](https://hackaday.com/): If you are a bit hacker or want to become one, this site is for you! - [wikifab.org](https://wikifab.org/wiki/Accueil): Just like instructables, but *en français* - [Slicer](https://apps.autodesk.com/FUSION/en/Detail/Index?id=8699194120463301363&os=Win64&appLang=en) : A software to convert 3D models (.stl files) into laser-cutted slices, a great tool to build cardboard objects. - [Make a box](https://makeabox.io/) : A website to create boxes that can be laser cutted - [Makercase](http://www.makercase.com/) : Another laser cutted boxes website - [templatemaker.nl](https://www.templatemaker.nl/) : To create quiclky paper objects that can be cutted with the laser cutter. - [Sculptris](http://pixologic.com/sculptris/) : A 3D sculpting tool, a fun way to create 3D models for 3D printing or laser cutting. - ... ::: Note in the section below all the projects and tools you've find to help you for the conception and fabrication of your final prototype. :::warning Bank terminal : * https://slack-files.com/TLEBY6PA7-FRP0F3U6A-45c15ff48a * https://slack-files.com/TLEBY6PA7-FRAFRKWHX-8c5570baa2 ::: ### Demonstrator design #### Drawing :::info Start by taking a sheet of paper and draw the global shape of your demonstrator, then explode it into the parts that compose it and draw them one by one. ::: Insert below the pictures of your drawings, don't forget to write a caption for each image : :::warning ![](https://i.imgur.com/nyil0th.jpg) It is a bollard that can be fixed or placed on any type of surface. A tablet is placed in the centre and a ticket dispenser is included. ::: :::warning ![](https://i.imgur.com/H5mj8Q7.jpg) We have placed solar panels above the terminal to recharge it and an SOS sign so that it can be visible. ::: :::warning ![](https://i.imgur.com/rhydW5H.jpg) The drawing represents the application that will be on the terminal tablet. The application is a map that positions either access to accommodation, care or meals. ::: :::warning ![](https://i.imgur.com/emc1zzU.jpg) This is on one side of the terminal, we have written this so that it can be located from a distance. ::: ___ ### Means of fabrication :::info Now that you have designed your final prototype it's time to build it! Take the time to fill accuratly the following section to have a good overview of the building process. ::: #### Tools List below what tools you need for building the project: :::warning * Tool 1 Laser cutting ::: #### Softwares : List below what software you need for the conception of your final prototype : :::warning * Software 1Adobe Illustrator * Software 2 Adobe XD ::: #### BOM (Bill Of Materials) List in the table below all the elements you need to build your demonstrator (replace the exemples with your parts) : :::warning |Part number| Part name | Material /description | Dimensions |Quantity | |-----------| ----------- | ------------------------ | -------- |----- | |1 | plywood boards | woods | 500X1000 mm | 2 | |2 | tube of wood glue | glue | 100ml | 1 | |3 | markers | colors= red and black | | 2 | ::: :::success Once you have decided what features to prototype and how, settle a meeting with the makers’ lab manager of your campus. He will give you some technical feedback and the material you need. Do not expect the makers’ lab managers to tell you what to build! ::: ___ ### Conception - Use Adobe Illustrator or TinkerCAD to design your parts. - Use Adobe XD and/or arduino to design interactions :::warning ![](https://i.imgur.com/goE98Ep.jpg) ![](https://i.imgur.com/Nl3Q8Cg.jpg) ![](https://i.imgur.com/32EX4Tb.jpg) ![](https://i.imgur.com/McAaV42.jpg) ![](https://i.imgur.com/LriOd2k.jpg) ![](https://i.imgur.com/EYLCT0u.jpg) ![](https://i.imgur.com/uC4r7jl.jpg) ![](https://i.imgur.com/0gzJNZa.jpg) application prototyping, link building : ![](https://i.imgur.com/VmB3w3B.jpg) ![](https://i.imgur.com/gCBkBTj.jpg) ![](https://i.imgur.com/9mVo4us.jpg) ![](https://i.imgur.com/9HxHGdb.jpg) ![](https://i.imgur.com/BWsf46x.jpg) ![](https://i.imgur.com/JbDsJfi.jpg) ![](https://i.imgur.com/oywfK0h.jpg) ![](https://i.imgur.com/X6Rabig.jpg) ![](https://i.imgur.com/75X0WgM.jpg) ![](https://i.imgur.com/rxZhog9.jpg) We used Adobe XD to create an application to go to our kiosk that would help the homeless. ::: ___ ### Building process Describe below the building steps of your demonstrator and insert a picture for each step : :::warning ![](https://i.imgur.com/Lcg9G80.png) ![](https://i.imgur.com/NBzfrTp.png) **step one** : We were inspired by a terminal for banks.
