Ethereum is decentralised Ethereum Magicians - Community Communicators Main role is to maintain community forum, host (mainly in person) discussions, support EIP process, moderate forum Ethereum Cat Herders - Management Started as Management to All Core Devs, now doing a bunch of EIP related work, primary hosting calls EIP Editors - Moderators Making sure EIPs are well written, there are no mistakes, editing EIPs, moderating Ethereum/EIPs repo (All) Core Devs Coordinators - Protocol Maintainers / Contributors Implementing EIPs, working on Core Protocol, coordinating core protocol changes. EIPs are created by Protocol Guild - Core Devs Coordinators Collective of core protocol contributors. Maintaining onchain registry and directly fund protocol devs working on public good. ---------------- Ethereum Magicians The main role of this group is to act as Community Communicators. Ethereum Magicians are maintaining community forum hosting (mainly) in person discussions, supporting EIP Process with initiatives like leading NFT Standards Working Group. Ethereum Cat Herders The main role of Ethereum Cat Herders is to as Project Management of All Core Devs by helping out organise and host All Core Devs Calls. Ethereum Cat Herders are hosting a couple EIP related calls like Peep an EIP, EIP IP (something else to be added here?) ACD As mentioned in my last article, Core Devs are responsible for maintaining the code. The ACD are not coordinators, they don't coordinate but they implement the code and discuss EIPs, technical difficulties and challenges on Ethereum. The new groups These groups were spin off in order to make some groups more coordinated EIP Editors The main role of EIP Editors is to act as Moderators. EIP Editors are working on Core Protocol by making sure EIPs are well written without mistakes. They are editing EIPs and moderating Ethereum/EIPs repository. Protocol Guild This group has spin off to help fund Core Devs. The People that keeps the Ethereum (code) heart beating, this group is to help funding these people. As described by Protocol Guild itself "A collective of Ethereum contributors working to boost the incentives around stewarding the core protocol by maintaining an onchain registry of its membership which allows ecosystem sponsors to directly fund the membership, their work, the public good". Edited version of the Ethereum Standards post Title: Ethereum Standards Introduction The Ethereum ecosystem have it's own improvement process which is using standards - improvement proposals to update the protocol. These standards are Ethereum Improvement Proposals using shortcut EIPs. EIPs are the primary mechanisms for proposing new features, for collecting community technical input on an issue, and for documenting the design decisions that have gone into Ethereum. They have it's own governance process through which EIPs go through in order to be apart of the protocol update. This governance process is described in EIP-1, where you can find graph of the full EIP governance workflow. EIP Types We differentiate EIPs based on their types. All EIPs go through the same EIP process, at the time of writing this post. This may likely change in the future.

ECH & ETH Magi Roadmap

Goal: determine and differentiate scope of work between magicians and cat herders Underlying goal: support client teams Anett: whats the difference between ECH and Magicians In oder so our projects will differentiate and we can clearly communicate to the community what's the difference between these projects and who does what Pooja: TBH, I try to engage and take jobs that I think I can work on or get people engaged from the community. William has been helpful on ERCs and some other tasks. I am looking for a roadmap for ECH in 2023, happy to talk to you and explore different opportunities on the next Friday meeting; where ECH and FEM can support Client devs.
