## Define & prototype 3 proposals
### Proposal n°1 : Slot machine beach recycle bin
##### Actors
:::warning
- FOR WHOM? For vacationers who enjoy their time at the beach and generate garbage of all kind but also for people who'd like to contribute to clean the beach
- BY WHO? We are a start-up company focusing on the needs of local authorities who want to keep the beach clean
- WITH WHOM? The others actors or communities involved are the local authorities in the broad sense and waste collection agents
:::
##### Context
:::warning
- WHY? Our goal is to encourage people to bring more garbage to the bin so the beach will be less polluted
- WHEN? Everytime there is people enjoying the beach, so probably more during the warm season
- WHERE? Beach highly polluted by bathers
:::
##### Features
:::warning
- WHAT? Encourage people to sort waste and throw more trash in the bin with the incentive to win gifts
- HOW? Everytime you throw trash in this bin, it allows you to play at the slot machine and try to win gifts through a QR code generated by the machine and an app. Basically the idea is to combine a slot machine and a bin to gamify the process of sorting your waste.
:::
##### Usage scenario
Describe use cases
How will users access your service?
Describe quickly the usage scenario, and add a drawing for each steps :
:::warning
**Initial context:**

People enjoying their time at the beach. They will inevitably create waste
:::warning
**Action 1:**

Somebody throws a piece of garbage in the corresponding hole of the slot machine bin (one hole for each category of waste)
:::warning
**Action 2:**

The different type of waste have different values. Based on the hole that has been used, the machine assigns a value to the piece of garbage and this enables the consumer to play with the slot machine. For instance, a bottle of beer = 4 tries, etc.
:::warning
**Action 3:**

The consumer uses the handle
:::warning
**Resolving situation:**

and checks the display device to see if he has won the jackpot. If so, a QR code will be generated by the machine and the consumer can scan it with an app to get his or her gift

### Proposal n°2 : The talkative trash Uncle Bin
##### Actors
:::warning
- FOR WHOM? All the people going for holidays in countries that propose self-sorting machines among the streets.
- BY WHO? We are a start up that propose a solution for countries to give responsabilities to the tourists.
- WITH WHOM? We would like to work with the governments as we need to work with the public self-sorting systems. And we also would like to work with the tourism agencies to send incentives to the tourists
:::
##### Context
:::warning
- WHY? We aim to reduce the pollution by tourism and promoting the local beverages of each country. We believe that if there is a significant increase of the sales of local beverages and if the majority of these products are recycled we will consider our project a success.
- WHEN? First of all we will have to convince the governments and the agencies of our project. Then we must adapt the self-sorting machines so that they can match with our app. Then we will have to talk with local manufacturers of beverages to deal with tourism agencies working with us.
- WHERE? We are going to use every single self-sorting machines available on the streets to promote the recycling and the consumption of local products. Then the agencies will be used as sort of billboards for us to promote our idea.
:::
##### Features
:::warning
- WHAT? We want to propose to customers using our app to recycle the local beverages they buy in order to get discounts for their next trips or disounts on services provided by the tourism agencies they used.
- HOW? We will create an app to connects tourism agencies/local manufacturers of beverages/self-sorting machines/customers. The customers will have to buy local beverages, go to a sorting machines and scan the QR-code on their phone, enter the name of the agency in partnership with us and then recycle the local beverages they bought. The agencies will promote the consumption of local beverages and make their customers recycle their buyings. The agencies will get a percentage of the money generated by the local products bought and recycled. The more the customer recycle, the more he will get points that will offer him discounts. Finally we will get paid by the agencies of a certain percentage of what they got paid by the local manufacturers.
:::
##### Usage scenario
Describe use cases: For each local beverage bought.
How will users access your service?
The customers will get access to our app by downloading it. They will just have to go to the self-sorting system and recycle local beverages to get discounts from their tourism agency.
Describe quickly the usage scenario, and add a drawing for each steps :
:::warning
**Initial context:**

*Today a lot of cans or bottles aren't recycled because of a lack of incentives toward people and especially tourists !*
:::
:::warning
**Action 1:**

*Tourists download our app.*
:::
:::warning
**Action 2:**

*Tourists buy local beverages*
:::
:::warning
**Action 3:**

*They go to the self-sorting machine, scan their phone, enter the name of the agency and then recycle the beverages they bought.*
:::
:::warning
**Action 4:**

*They get points usable with their agency !*
:::
:::warning
**Resolving situation:**

*The tourist recycled his beverages and got points to use !*

### Choose the most promising proposal
Compare the three proposals and select the one you think is the most relevant with regard to these 4 criterias:
- Is this proposal relevant to the course theme? (Fix our future with digital fabrication)
- Is this proposal relevant to the group's subject?
- Can I materialize this proposal on a scale of 1:1 at the makers' lab?
- Does my proposal respond to a real need?
At the next meeting you will argue your choice with your tutor, she / he will choose the proposal you will develop in the next phases.

# P2. Test!
:::info
The goal of this phase is to improve your prototype using end-users feedback.
:::
:::danger
**Negative user feedback doesn't means your proposal is bad** : do not give up and analyse what are the pain points to solve in a new version.
:::
## Test and iterate your proposal
### 1. Test protocol
Write below your test ptotocol :
:::warning
**Write here the ideal user profile (persona):**
*Every person going to the beach especially during the holidays are likely to use our bin. As our gifts to reward people sorting their trashes are based on local products, our ideal user profile is more a tourist than a local as we aim to promote local products.*
:::
:::warning
**Write here the goal of your test:**
*We would like to see if our users can understand how to use our ptoduct without saying too much information. We also would like to know if our product responds to the problematic we have been asked. Finally we would like to know how we could improve our product in any manner in terms of design, functionality, communication and so on.*
:::
:::warning
**Describe here the main feature you want to test:**
*first of all we would to test our electronic circuit to see if our users know how our intern-system works and if he agrees with it or find other ways.*
:::
:::warning
**Tell who will be conducting the tests (at least two persons per test):**
*As we are two in this group and regarding the actual conditions imposed by the quarantine we will both conduct the tests on our side.*
:::
:::warning
**List and clearly describe all the actions that the user will have to perform to test your product according to your usage scenario:**
- action 1: Discover the appearance of our product and give a feedback about it.
- action 2: Test the electronic system on arduino, so that he/she can understand how the lights work and how the sensors function. Then give a feedback about it.
- action 3: Answer if our product responds to our given problematic. Give general advices about anything that could improve our product.

- issue 1 : how can it be a slot machine if there is no chance involved in the whole process
- issue 2 : there is no direct use in having two different steps for 1) detecting a piece of garbage 2) launching the led system
- issue 3 : how could you be sure there isn't people putting fake piece of garbage so they will be able to play

Note positive, neutral and negative feedback
| Positive | Neutral | Negative |
| --------| --------| --------|
| All those colours are pretty cool and it's like a candy shop| The redlight system is a bit complex for now| Note here negative remarks|

- issue 1 : based upon nudge system but when some people realise that, they want to bypass the system, play with the limits
- issue 2 : I have to put my waste one by one. It's okay if it's a bottle but not if it's dirty trash
- issue 3 : Plus most of the time I have SOME waste but your machine only recognises A PIECE of waste
:::
:::warning
Note positive, neutral and negative feedback
| Positive | Neutral | Negative |
| --------| --------| --------|
| Enables you to assign more points to a specific kind of garbage, really cool| The led system immediately reminds us casino| Infra-red system can be improved
:::
:::warning
How do we assign a value to the trash when it's some waste, uncountable
:::
:::warning
We need to give some further thoughts to put the infra-red part.

##### User feedback
:::warning
Note here at least 3 issues raised by the user:
- issue 1 : if I notice a strange bin with led at the beach I would expect more than a bunch of funny lights otherwise I'll be bored (but the product will evolve to a more sophisticated one)
- issue 2 : how could we avoid cheaters
- issue 3 : what if I am here temporily, how will I make my efforts profitable
:::
:::warning
Note positive, neutral and negative feedback
| Positive | Neutral | Long stay only |
| --------| --------| --------|
|Good overall design | Where to put your waste at the beach is definitely an issue| Note here negative remarks|
:::
:::warning
User 3 shows no interest in the gift system if she doesn't stay long enough
:::
:::warning
We have been focusing to much on long stay as regards the gift system

### 3. Improve your prototype
Insert below **at least 3 pictures** of your iteration showing your proposal evolution.
:warning: <span style="color:red">**Drawings, illustrations and other images are not allowed.**</span>
:::warning
Drag-n-drop 3 pictures below :
:::
:::warning
Describe the evolution of the prototype:
We will probably add a random dimension to the product. Our current product is considered as fun by our users but if lacks of an actual incentive system. There is this funny design that reminds people the lights of casino but there is no chance involved. This incentive aspect can very well be provided by a gamification of our system. However, it implies that you don't win everytime you play, which is another issue.
##### Prototype video
Use your smartphone to make a short video (30s) showing your improved prototype in situation of use, and post it on the Slack channel of your group.
***
* * *
### 5. Define your final product
According to users feedback rewrite your requirements specification.
:::warning
- What is the purpose of your product?
The purpose of our final product remains the same, to gamify waste sorting, but we will also add the luck factor in it.
:::
:::warning
- What problem do you want to solve with it?
Our new product aims to adress the problem of the pleasure the user take while using our bin. We had the feeling that a colorful light system was not enough to provide a rich user experience. With our new system there is not only the pleasure to see some nice LEDs around the slot machine, but also a luck factor because when you play the slot machine, you don't know what prize you will win, you only know that you will win something. The process is similar to buying a deck of collectible cards. You know for sure that you will have for instance 50 cards but you don't know the value they will have.
:::
:::warning
- What features your product will have to achieve this objective? Rank the features in order of importance
Just a device in the back office of the app that will manage the random system that assigns a gift to the scanned QR code, the physical product in itself remains the same.

# P3. Design
## Make your final prototype
:::info
Now that you have defined what is your best proposal it's time to make a greater version of it. You will present it to the jury during the final evaluation alongside the early prototypes made in the previous phase.
:::
:::success
A good prototype is self-explainatory : the user must be able to understand how it works without instructions or user manual. It must be fully functional and sufficiently strong to withstand several demonstrations in real conditions of use.
:::
:::danger
For this phase it is **mandatory** to use at least :
- **Tinkercad** to design in 3D your product
- **Tinkercad Circuits** to design the electronics
- **Adobe XD** to make your prototype interactive.

Each door of each compartments has holes crafted to incent people to recycle the right trashes in the right place. Moreover each door can be opened to get rid of the the full trash.
Then the upper part include 5 stars of different colors that represents the lights that will shine once the buton next to the black screen is pushed.
As the bin will be in France and on the beaches we decided to use a sand color for the overall structure and then we kept the official french colors to recycle so that people aren't lost. For tourists an english sentence will also be written.
