OSIP Website `5min` > [name= Vincent Zipper] 6. Social Media Presence `5min` 7. Miscellaneous `5min` ::: ## Open Science Research Project > [name= Ulrike Pfeifer] Ulrike presents her research project. She studied German language and literature at the TUD with a focus on applied linguistics and is working in the research project ["DiaDisk"](https://tu-dresden.de/gsw/forschung/exzellenzmassnahmen/tudisc/projekte/diadisk) and will write her dissertation in it. She wants to look at the linguistic patterns in the opening discourses around Open Science. To do so, she will investigate the experiences of individual actors and the discursive strategies and practices used. To do this, she wants to collect observational data during our meetings. Anonymous notes will be taken, there will be no audio or video recording. Individual interviews are planned to be conducted at a later date, she will be in touch then and is happy to have participants. You can reach her by email if you have any questions: ulrike_marie.pfeifer1@tu-dresden.de ## News Franziska Korb discovered a new tool: [ARIADNE – a scientific navigator to find your way through the resource labyrinth and a 10 step roadmap for research projects](https://osf.io/jfh3t/) Denise Dörfel promotes Service Center Research Data's new training series ['How To Secure, Organize, Understand, and Find (My) Data?'](https://tu-dresden.de/forschung-transfer/services-fuer-forschende/kontaktstelle-forschungsdaten/news/daten-weiterbildungsreihe-ksfd?set_language=de) which is also especially interesting for PIs. ## OSIP Birthday Update > [name= René Dutschke] Planning is ongoing. If you plan to come we ask for a short confirmation [here](https://terminplaner6.dfn.de/p/8f091d59bdb51427bed35c6a7e6a7fd2-400922) ## Impulses on Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement / Citizen Science > [name= Kristina Herzog] Kristina is doing her PhD in pediatric psychooncology and is part of the professional society PSAPOH (Psychosoziale Arbeitsgemeinschaft in der Pädiatrischen Onkologie und Hämatologie - Psychosocial Association in Paediatric Oncology and Haematology). The slides of the short presentation can be found [here](https://tu-dresden.de/mn/psychologie/osip/ressourcen/dateien/vortraege-und-workshops/Kristina-Herzog-PPIE.pdf/view). Meeting attendees discuss the application of PPIE and Citizen Science. The psychology faculty at TUD is starting to pursue the topic. Citizen Science seems to be useful, also outside of clinical research, but there an application is faster conceivable and therefore also the pressure to implement it. Patients have an interest in being involved. The situation might be different in transport research, for example, where the question is how to motivate people to participate. Participants should receive compensation, e.g. analogous to student assistants. In experimental psychology, a use for testing questions for relevance is thinkable. ## Discussion: Thesis Supervision and Open Science Meeting attendees discuss the use of open science practices in theses. The Chair of Differential and Personality Psychology very often works with preregistrations as a substitute for exposés. Students give positive feedback, as the preregistration can be used as a guideline and also provides students with a more binding framework for the scope of the thesis. Ideally, research data management should take place via Git and Markdown documents, as this is common practice in the working group. The technical know-how is distributed very differently in the individual working groups. There are advanced training courses for doctoral students, but the supervisors are not necessarily familiar with the topic. Professors need to be brought on board for comprehensive implementation. However, transparent work and ensuring reproducibility are also possible without complex tools, e.g. through power analyses and well-formulated hypotheses and analysis plans. In other working groups, preregistrations are not very common and are not requested by students. In the case of very exploratory studies that only lead to a student thesis, preregistrations could create an overload, as the time available (especially for Bachelor theses) is very limited. If the aim is to publish the results, preregistration is more likely. Some Open Science practices are already implemented anyway, for example, any analysis code is normally made available to the supervisors. ## OSIP Website The new OSIP website is online. It can be accessed via https://tu-dresden.de/mn/psychologie/osip or the short link tud.de/psych/osip. Vincent asks that all OSIP members who have published relevant publications on the topic of Open Science send them to him so that they can be [linked on the website](https://tu-dresden.de/mn/psychologie/osip/infomaterial/publikationen). He also invites everyone to submit further suggestions for website content. ## Social Media Presence Meeting attendees are in agreement not to post any new content on Twitter/X. Alternatives could be Bluesky, Mastodon, Instagram. This will be discussed at the next meeting. ## Miscellaneous Meeting attendees are in favor of having a longer 'OSIP retreat'. This will be discussed at the next meeting. --- The next OSIP meeting is yet to be scheduled. The link to will be sent out via the mailing list about one week before the meeting. All OSIPs are welcome to propose topics.
