* For beginning, the prohibition, took place from 1920 to 1933 in the united states. During this period alcohol was forbidden. A new illegal market then appeared, the sale of alcohol. During and after this period, many books, films, pictures... were inspired by it. now, we are going to see different examples that draw inspiration from this period in different domains

### In comics
`Tintin`
https://www.profartspla.info/images/tintin.pdf
* Then, the prohibition inspired the authors of comics like in Tintin in America
- The story of Tintin in America takes place in the United States in Chicago, during Prohibition, where Tintin plays a reporter with his dog Milou who fights against the city's gangsters.
- After dismantling a diamond trafficking organized by Al Capone in the album Tintin in Congo
- Tintin arrives in Chicago. His arrival is awaited with great anticipation by the gangsters, who kidnap him as soon as he gets off the train.
- He nevertheless escapes and loses the gangsters' trail in a car accident.
- When he gets out of hospital, Al Capone kidnaps him in turn, but Milou intervenes and Tintin can capture the whole gang. In spite of this exploit, the police do not believe him and Al Capone escapes.
- A rival leader, Bobby Smiles, then decides to recruit Tintin to eliminate Al Capone. Faced with his refusal, Smiles tries to kill him twice, without success, and is then forced to flee after the arrest of his gang.
- This comic is relevant to my part because Tintin in America was published in 1946 after the Pop culture that emerged in 1920, moreover the story takes place during prohibition which allows the author to tell what happened during this period.

### Videos games
`Empire of sin`
* but also, creators of videos games was inspired by that period..
* Empire Of Sin is a game created by Romero Games and Paradox Interactive it is a game of Strategy and Management where you play as a mafia man during the Prohibition era in the USA. At the beginning of the game we are asked to choose one of the 14 available characters. Some characters are inspired by real people such as Alphonso Capone says Al Capone. Then the characters each have their own special skills and empire bonuses that can give for example a reduction on the production cost of breweries. Then after choosing our character we start the game with a dialogue phase with a cab driver who will give us our first mission and this will serve as a tutorial. The game proposes turn-based combat phases, we will experiment this aspect of the game during our first mission during which we will take control of a building, to which we will be able to assign traffic, for example if we want the building to be a hideout, a brewery or a speakeasy and much more. The goal of the game is to control the different neighborhoods where rival gangs are installed.

"The Bootleggers" is an oil painting by Edward Hopper from 1925. We can see 3 men dressed in black sitting in a boat and a fourth standing on the coast.Next to him, we see a large period house. The ship goes to the fourth person and the house. The scene takes place at twilight. black outfits and twilight indicates that something illegal is going on at that time. In fact, this painting is editing during the prohibition. The scene takes place in the coast est of united states in cape Ann. Cape ann came alive between sundown and sunup during Prohibition between Coast Guard chases, gun battles, traffic...In this painting, Hopper Denounces Illegal Bootlegger Activities. Hopper didn’t drink much but he loathed government constraint on social behavior. This painting is unusual for Hopper. It is his most overtly political image. He is not used to exposing political facts in these paintings.
This painting is a good example of how prohibition is represented in art in general.
Art was also used in politics to register people to vote for or against prohibition like this drawing:

In this drawing, we can read " close the saloons " and " If you believe that the traffic in alcohol does more harm than good. Help stop it"
this poster asks people to vote to stop prohibition, which creates traffic and is more disturbing than alcohol consumption.

Prohibition also inspired artists in their songs, such as Francis Byrne's "How are you goin' to wet your whistle", sung by Billy Murray. This music is humorous, and makes fun of the consequences of prohibition in everyday life, such as the fact that people will no longer be able to drink alcohol in the morning to start their day, coming home from work, or after the death of a loved one. This music therefore makes a mockery of prohibition, highlighting its ridiculous aspects.
More generally, music has been used to criticise or make fun of Prohibition, and Prohibition also remains a source of inspiration in pop culture, musically speaking, and shows how important this period was on a global and cultural level.

### CCL
* To conclude, we can see that the different fields of culture were inspired by this period. They made films, video games, paintings, music, books and others related to the prohibition of the 1920s in the United States. We find a lot of clichés about Prohibition, such as the illegal sale of alcohol, shootings and the debate for or against Prohibition. In any case, prohibition continues to inspire popular culture around the world.
