    # Battle for Evermore Battle for Evermore is a text based NFT adventure delivering a modern adaptation on the greatest game genre of all time, MUDs. Evermore is unlike any other text based world and is a team based game where players fight for control over an area. Heroes from the Light and Dark face off in a competitive battleground for dominance, glory and the spoils of war. ## The Team The Team behind Evermore has over 121 combined years of experience Mudding. Our team are builders and leaders in DAOs, DeFi and NFT spaces. - [MachiBigBrother](https://twitter.com/machibigbrother) - Mudding 30+ years, founder of CREAM finance and Mud.xyz. - [Basaro](https://twitter.com/muddotxyz) - Mudding for 30+ years, Battle for Evermore creative director. - [penguin](https://twitter.com/c0mput3rxz) - Mudding for 25+ years, Battle for Evermore technical director - [gn0me](https://twitter.com/gvanderest) - Mudding 25+ years, Battle for Evermore lead developer - [skipio](https://twitter.com/enceladus_game) Mudding 25+ years, Battle for Evermore core developer ## The World The humans have dominated and poisoned the lands through years of waste and overconsumption. The days of calm passed and now the country is stuck in a vicious war caused by the demise of the human king. The vacuum and subsequent chaos caused a series of brutal fights to break out for control of the territory. It is clear the two sides will not be reasoned with. Each hero will fight for their own cause, and only you can decide your fate! The surface dwellers call themselves the Heroes of the Light, humans and folk gathered together to support society and community. They stand in stark contrast to their counterpart. Below the crust of the surface, strength and greed are the only rule in the Dark. ## The Game - Game modes are intended to be team engagements where players fight together against other players before eventually killing the other team's leader and claiming victory. Killing an enemy on the battlefield provides experience and equipment which present an opportunity of advantage on the battle field. Through good composition, teamwork and the lamentation of your foes, you will rise to stronger and greater powers. In time you and your team may be strong enough to turn the tides of battle. But be quick, if neither side claims victory within the agreed upon time, no one may claim victory. ## Picking a Hero - Picking a Hero is one of the first steps to joining the adventure. Picking a hero has a few considerations that may help you pick the character you want to play. All characters are intended to be playable and have utility but it is important to understand the stats and what they do. - **These are a general description of stats as they stand for the alpha and are subject to future change and balancing** - **Constitution:** Influences your starting hit points and your hit point gain per level. It is always important to have decent constitution to stay in the fight and not die. Without constitution you can be pretty squishy. This is a very important stat for most builds. - **Strength:** Influences your base damage and auto attacks. Strength is used for skills that require raw power to execute. If all else fails being able to hit hard is always a good stat to consider. This is a very important stat for most builds. - **Intelligence:** Influences your experience per kill and per level. Smart people learn things faster which means more levels with less kills. Intelligence also has the benefit for spell casters to improve the damage for most spells and also defend against magic spells. Intelligence is important to most builds, but especially important for spell casters. - **Agility:** Influences your ability to dodge attacks and has the ability to make you move and act faster. High agility characters have the benefit of faster movement and less lag. For a roguelike character agility is a critical skill and heavily influences stealth damage. - **Wisdom:** Wisdom is generally a helpful stat but is supporting and not as influential in many scenarios. Crafting and supporting classes benefit from an abundance of wisdom. - Another key consideration is your heroe's faction. Faction is mostly determined by living above or below ground. Humans can choose a side while all other races are either dark or light in nature. Some classes (Mercenary, Nomad, Marauder) may choose to not follow their racial nature and may pick which side they fight for. ## How to play - **Text Mode** - Traditional command mode, with full control over your character. - Type commands into the text box to execute the command. (who, score) - Use commands north, south, east or west (or n,s,e,w) to move around. - Use the aliases provided for quick use of spells and abilities (1, 2, 3, 4) - To target someone else use their name for allies and race for enemies. (k human, c magic goblin) - Get out of a fight before you die. (flee) - Loot the corpses of the fallen. (get X corpse) - Wear Equipment you find. (wear X, remove X) - Scan surrounding rooms. (scan north) - **Arcade Mode** - Modern game control mode, move fast and use hotkeys. - **w, a, s, d movement** - move like traditional shooter games using w for north, s for south, a for west and d for east. - **f** - use f to flee from combat - **q** -use q to auto attack an enemy - **1, 2, 3, 4** - use the numbers to cast spells or use skills - **follow / unfollow / ditch** - click follow, unfollow, or ditch just above an allies name - **target** - click a character's name or race to target them - **switch between text and arcade mode** - press shift twice - **Your Heroe's Status** Closely monitoring the status of your hero is an integral part of the gameplay in Heroes of Evermore. At a glance you can see the most pertinent details in the status panel under the map. To get a more detailed view use the score command. You can also see your hp/energy/mana at the bottom of the text panel. - On the status panel the red bar signifies your hit points. The yellow/blue bar is your energy/mana. The teal bar is your experience. - As you gain experience your hero will level up. As you gain levels you will notice that your powers will significantly increases. **Example of the status panel** ![Example of the status panel](https://i.imgur.com/9altKCY.png) **Example of the score command** ![Example of the score command](https://i.imgur.com/KBKhljP.png) - **Movement and Rooms** - In battle for Evermore, movement is shown in a few ways. As you move you will see your hero (the red @) move around the map. You will also see the description of a room in the text panel whenever you move into a new one. You can recall or refresh this description by using the command look. - When entering a room with heroes or NPCs in it you will see a message showing they are there. You will also see similar messages when a hero enters or exits a room. - The target panel to the left of the map will display a list of enemies in the room. The ally panel below the map will show all allies. Allies who are in the room with you are brightly colored, allies who are not in the room are dark. - Heroes need to stick together. The easiest way to do this is to follow another hero. You need to be in the same room as a hero to start following them. When following a hero, you will move as they do as long as you are in the same room when they start moving. If you wander away, you may get lost and have a hard time finding your way back to the group. **Example of movement in the text panel** ![Example of movement in the text panel](https://i.imgur.com/utnPG3P.gif) **Example of movement in the map panel** ![Example of movement in the map panel](https://i.imgur.com/naBmYqB.gif) - **Target and Ally Panels** - The target panel to the left of the map will display a list of enemies in the room. Use the target panel to target enemy heroes in arcade mode by clicking on their race. - The ally panel below the map will show all allies. Allies who are in the room with you are brightly colored and allies who are not in the room are dark. Use the ally panel to target allies in arcade mode by clicking on their name/race. You can also use the ally panel to follow/unfollow/ditch allies by clicking above their names. **Example of the target panel** ![Example of the target panel](https://i.imgur.com/TEKHkO2.png) **Example of the Ally panel** ![Example of the target panel](https://i.imgur.com/MaR5caz.png) - **Battle!** - For glory! Battles are partially automated in Battle for Evermore. Once you begin damaging an opponent the game will automatically start trading blows back and forth between you. These are basic attacks that will automatically use the weapons you are holding or your fists if you have no weapons. - The battle ends when an engaged hero dies or flees from battle. Heroes succeed by effectively using their skills in coordination with their team. - When a player dies the player that killed an enemy, and all grouped allies in the room will gain experience. The fallen player will drop a corpse will fall lifelessly to the ground for all heroes to loot. **Example of a fight** ![Example of a fight](https://i.imgur.com/dRoGleA.gif) ## Common Commands - look: show the content of either the room or a container - follow: when another person moves you will also move to their room - who: show the player list and current score of the match - score: show your current personal stats - kill: attack an enemy and engage them with basic auto attacks - cast: the keyword used to define that the user intends to use a spells - get: a command to pick up something up from the ground to your inventory - inventory: your personal limited storage space to carry items - wear: a command to put something on your character from your inventory - give: hand another something from your inventory - drop: a command to move something from your inventory to the ground - scan: scan nearby rooms for enemies or allies ## Alpha Window - Public Alpha Testing begins December 21st 2021 and closes January 1st 2022! - To play the Alpha visit https://alpha1221.evermore.mud.xyz - Chrome or a chromium based browser works best - Matches will be formed online by staff based on player availability. - Matches will be 30 minutes long. - All Races and Classes are available for play. - Players may only enter one character per match. - Matches should have a balanced number of characters and will have a limit. - Matches will require a Hero to be in your Ethereum wallet to play. - Matches do not require gas to play but will require a signature for registration. - Alpha means the game may contain bugs and is provided without warranties. ## Alpha Tester - Alpha game will not contain all skills final class skill or balance of character. - Joining the Tester-Guild will enable player to play with an Alpha-Pass. - Alpha Pass games do not count for score or ranking. - Alpha-Pass holders are asked not to share new features without permission. - Alpha Pass may be issued or revoked at any time. ## Troubleshooting -
