Today I had a chat with an [icon](https://nader.codes/) and a [legend](https://x.com/dabit3), [Nader Dabit](https://twitter.com/dabit3)! OG, DevRel, software engineer, author, and [teacher](https://www.youtube.com/@naderdabit/videos), fluently speaking tech: cloud, web, AI, blockchain, and cross-platform mobile application development. He's done it all: FAANG, DAOs, Consulting, AI, Blockchain, Investing. Overall, just a badass human with a kind soul! ![Screenshot 2024-07-06 at 12.15.10 a.m.](https://hackmd.io/_uploads/ry4uM1LDC.png) He started working in software 12 years ago. And has been shaping [communities](https://nader.substack.com/p/building-high-impact-developer-communities) and providing high-impact developer education for 7. Working with epic clients, you can learn more on his [website](https://nader.codes/). 3 years as Lead DevRel [AWS](https://aws.amazon.com/products/frontend-web-mobile/) Front End Web & Mobile team, and 3 years in web3. Currently DevRel, DX at [@eigenlayer](https://x.com/eigenlayer). In his recent piece [Building High Impact Developer Communities](https://nader.substack.com/p/building-high-impact-developer-communities), he goes in-depth about his journey and highlights his personal career milestones. Nader started being active, aka *cooking in the kitchen*, in public over 7 years ago, with 2k followers, while he began leading DevRel at [AWS](https://aws.amazon.com/products/frontend-web-mobile/). He knew he loved working in DevRel, but after learning the methodology, tooling, and how big systems work at FAANG, he jumped to web3 to explore new opportunities. FAANG was a great learning platform and a space to build a personal network of talented individuals, but personal fulfillment was lying elsewhere. Today he has over 140k followers on Twitter. He stays extremely efficient with his time, holding tons of meetings, and balancing travel and family life by applying the methodologies he has learned throughout his software career. We spoke about DevRel, life, routine, and conspiracy theories. ## DevRel lyfe advice recap: - **Take Action: no overthinking.** Just do it! - Join a big organization early and learn ***how to work*** with different systems, methodologies, tools, and systems. - FAANG your resume; it will give you a leg up in the future. - Leverage your *base* "corporate" training with critical thinking, and you're golden. Big orgs provide a great base for moving into a more self-directed journey. - Nourish your 🦾 connections, be it online or in real life. Quality over quantity. - **Take ownership in work and life.** - Stay true to your values, and you'll attract like-minded people, and projects. - Prioritize efficiency by establishing a routine, and workflow aligned with your values, and priorities. - The grass is always greener on the other side of the planet, but every area or country has its own issues and political climate. - Act local, think global. - Instead of imposing yourself on the right side of history, focus on assisting those directly affected by crises through actions you can take. Don't get caught up in the political theater – instead, channel your energy into making a genuine impact in people's lives. - Take your online image seriously. Upload that high-resolution photo to your profile.
