# Week 2 workshop warmup
## How were you feeling about the idea of of learning code at the beginning of term
terrified
I felt SCREWED
It seemed pretty fun and exciting - I always like learning something new
Excited as ***heck***
Questioning why + unmotivated, due to something so novel (like learning a new language!)
confused (why code for psych?) and intimidated
Worried
scared (did i accidently ipt to compsci?)
The idea of learning code was intimidating, but also exciting at the same time.
Scared
intriguied
interested but nervous
nonchalant but a bit intimidated
nervous, not sure what to expect
Learning code sounted quite duanting at the beginning
Scared deadass 100
It was a bit scary because I have never coded in my life.
Scared because not familiar with coding
Quite nervous but I knew how important R coding is within psychological research and definitely wanted to take part in this journey despite the challenges that may arise through the coursee coursee coursee coursee coursee coursee coursee coursee course
***Very nervous***
fine about it
anxious
Nervous and curious, and a *little bit* overwhelmed
nervous
a bit anxious
Apprehensive, but still keen because it'll be really useful for honours and beyond <- yes me too, i agree too <3
Apprehensive
Very stressed and nervous
scared and overwhelmed
not good lol
stressed
little bit excited and a little nervous too
Nervous but excited

hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhoverwhelmed

what is a code
overwhelmed and lowkey confused about how coding would be used in psychology <- lol same
## How are you feeling about the idea now?
- Still getting used to coding, so still apprehensive BUT seeing its centrality to the verification report, I am more determined to learn (with an open mindset, and allocating more TIME)
- Still a bit nervous as it's only the beginning but it's still interesting and keen to learn more
trying to get used to the coding language
more confident definitely!
- It's actually pretty exciting and I like seeing things come together
A bit better now because we are going through it slowly, but still scared that my brain is just not meant for this
still the same because the learning curve is extremely steep and it gets a lot harder
- Still nervous but a bit better
- Feeling a bit better, Danielle is very good at delivering the content, and breaks down the code and explains them in a manner that is easy to understand
- Motivated and like its essential to learn in the field
still fine about it
excited and its not as hard as expected
Sometimes still confusing and hard to understand but it's easy to grasp if you take the time to work on it
- Slowly understanding and getting comfortable with it since Danielle explains it well and thorough
understand how to use it a bit more, it is a bit more simple than i may have initially thought
Less apprehension to the idea,it's not as intimidating as I first thoughtLess apprehension to the idea,it's not as intimidating as I first thoughtLess apprehension to the idea,it's not as intimidating as I first thoughtLess apprehension to the idea,it's not as intimidating as I first thoughtLess apprehension to the idea,it's not as intimidating as I first thoughtLess apprehension to the idea,it's not as intimidating as I first thoughtLess apprehension to the idea,it's not as intimidating as I first thoughtLess apprehension to the idea,it's not as intimidating as I first thoughtLess apprehension to the idea,it's not as intimidating as I first thoughtLess apprehension to the idea,it's not as intimidating as I first thoughtslightly better, but it still feels a bit rushed and overwhelemed because its a whole new language
But better
nervous
It's going alright, i think each concept is being introduced well
surprisingly okay, better than i was expecting - still need to wrap my head about some things, but overall finding it doable and pretty interesting to learn about the different commands
Feeling slightly better because Dani breaks it down really well but still slightly overwhelming
Right now I am feeling less intimidated, as Danielle is teaching us from scratch.
scared deadass ***100*** but bold and italicised
Feeling like it is not as **daunting** as I first thought
Less overwhelmed
Feel like it challenging but can get through itFeel like it challenging but can get through itFeel like it challenging but can get through itFeel like it challenging but can get through itFeel like it challenging but can get through itFeel like it challenging but can get through itFeel like it challenging but can get through itFeel like it challenging but can get through itFeel like it challenging but can get through itFeel like it challenging but can get through itFeel like it challenging but can get through itFeel like it challenging but can get through itFeel like it challenging but can get through itFeel like it challenging but can get through itFeel like it challenging but can get through itFeel like it challenging but can get through itFeel like it challenging but can get through itFeel like it challenging but can get through itFFFFFFFF
Pretty good actually! Dani is a really great teacher, and it's pretty fun to see the results of coding
Still anxious but Dani is a great explainer and it has been tolerable.

getting used to it. but r is pretty beginner friendly to use so its less stressful.
## My favourite thing about Dani's content so far is...
The R Markdown stuff and producing a webpage has been really fun. Also graphing- that was very cool.
Her sunglasses <- yes 8D <- i agree <-- **yes** <- **she looks like a meme in the best way possible!**
She's such a meme but so knowledgable
She is very quirky and teaches with passion
She shows what mistakes look like and how you can fix them She shows what mistakes look like and how you can fix them She shows what mistakes look like and how you can fix them She shows what mistakes look like and how you can fix them She shows what mistakes look like and how you can fix them She shows what mistakes look like and how you can fix them She shows what mistakes look like and how you can fix them She shows what mistakes look like and how you can fix them She shows what mistakes look like and how you can fix them She shows what mistakes look like and how you can fix them Super clear instructions and casual vibe is relaxing
visualising data with cool colours
Very interesting
Very engaging and entertaining
how the content flows logically and interesting
Not boring
content is beginner friendly. she explained things from 0, flowed very naturally and made things seem easy.
she explains it pretty well
Her enthusiasm for R is pretty cute
She loves what she does and it shows. It almost makes me excited for R, and I've NEVER been excited for R
she has a very chill vibe and she explains things in an accessible way
The way she panics when something loads for too long
She's so capable but she's always joking how bad she is at code
She's so funny and engaging to watch!! her energy and remarks
her occasional jokes
she is sooo ***chill***!! and **funny** **<3**
her exercises are easy and easy to follow and she always explains them later so if you don't understand she will explain what she did
The way she breaks down code into easy and understandable concepts
I like the exercises that she assigns, so that we can get hands on experience - her step-by-step instructions are clear to follow, and render the videos as guides to return to
Her teaching style is engaging and I like that she's relatable
I like the step by step explanations makes it very easy to follow along and pick up on different techniques
She goes through each step very clearly
She acknowledges that learning code can be difficult
She gives a lot of examples and you can follow her step by step and she gives you a chance to try by yourself
The way she presents her lectures, I like how she gets so excited over small things
She's so easy to follow and it's way more engaging than a normal lecture cause you get to actually do stuff rather than just take notes
- she explains things really well and is very entertaining. When she gets excited about little things like graphs, i lowkey am too.
shes so funny and engaging, i really like her!!
How easy it is to undertstand and follow - she really breaks it down step by step which is so helpful
Easy to follow and I love her energy :D
The fact that her content is still so easy to follow and understand even on x2 speed
## One thing that would make learning R easier this term would be...
Having weekly exercises that we can choose to complete e.g. for this week, we could use a dataset to try using ggplot functions to visualise the data
practice and more resources <- agreed <- agreed x 2 <- agreed x3 x4
Some cheat sheets with very detailed and organised notes on how to do certain functions in R, because the slides are kind of all over the place and don't go into detai. Would be good to look back on this
more time to get the hang of things
Frequent revision of the modules and rewatching the videos.
More coverage of the skills not related to the code itself (i.e. how the updates work, how to undo certain code, explaining the save files).
consistently doing the work
- maybe a *cheat sheet/dictionary/bible* for all html/yaml/etc prompts <- agreed <- agreed x2
more practise and using actual research datasets to see how we would use it in our own research
Going through the exercises as a class <-- this
more exercises less just talk through/walk through
If the exercises were more individually-led (aka less answers given) in addition to the more step-by-step ones we already have (may be something for more down the track once we know a bit more)
Practice questions
Being consistent with the content and doing my own practice
More practice
More practice
Asking friends and peers for help
practice and working together probably using examples from actula papers
Being on time with the coding modules, and allocating time to let the skills sit - to be frustrated about not understanding things, but alleviate that frustration by exploring and experimenting more on R
I like it as it is
going through exercises in tuts pls : ( <- agreed
- more practice, explanatory notes on processes (step by step), pdf files instead of links, collaborative work in tutes.
If I was able to ask my friends/other people for clarification :)
Get rid of the inactive user emails! Please don't make me feel guilty for having to work long hours while studying, haha.
extra practice in the tutes
more practices with step-by-step solution, some cheat sheets might help too :)
practice, exercises in tutes, etc.
glossary/cheatsheet/summary of what we've learned so far
