# Fall 2020 Tech Fellow Training

## I. Overview

We've made some major upgrades to how training works based off of all of the feedback, conversations, check-ins, and reviews we've received over the last year. Our main change has been to **seperate facilitator and technical training** and improve our continuing education for returning Tech Fellows by honing in on their public speaking and presentation skills.

We've also added **Tech Fellow Society Meetings**, which are a new gathering that Tech Fellows, Gurus, and Program Staff will do in order to innovate, improve courses, and share our best practices. This is a discussion-focused experience, but each meeting will feature a returning Tech Fellow's prepared advice on what they've learned over multiple course runs.

### Training details
* **Technical Training** - This 6-week course is focused on technical course content that will be covered during the actual course run.
* **Tech Fellow-led Technical Training** - Two sessions of the technical training are focused on technical course content that will be covered during the actual course run but will be taught by experienced Tech Fellows.
* **Facilitator Training** - This 3-week workshop series will cover tools, responsibilities, and processes Tech Fellows will have during the actual course run.
* **Teacher Training** - This 3-week course for Returning Tech Fellows will cover techniques on how to present materials and perform lab demos during the class, during which returning Tech Fellows will get a chance to practice teaching and mentoring our New Tech Fellows.
* **Sprint Review Meeting** - This 2-week course will focus on the review of the logistical tasks the Tech Fellows will complete before and during the course.
* **Tech Fellow Society Meetings** - Tech Fellows and Program Staff gather for an hour during the first 6 weeks of their classes, and collaborate on innovating the way CodePath.org classes are taught, and share their knowledge and learnings with each other.

## II. Admissions Timeline
* **Apr 20 (3 weeks)** - Start TF interviews. (New + Returning)
* **May 22** - Close TF admissions.
* **May 24** - Prework deadline. (For New TFs only)
* **May 29** - End of TF interview. Tech Fellow contract signing. Start of student marketing by TFs.

## III. Training Schedule

* **Facilitator/Teacher Training** - *choose **either** the following meeting days.*
* Option 1: Every **Wednesday** at **6:00PM - 7:00PM PST**
* Option 2: Every **Thursday** at **6:00PM - 7:00PM PST**
* **Technical Training** - *choose **either** the following meeting times.*
* Option 1: Every **Saturday** at **7:00AM - 8:00AM PST**
* Option 2: Every **Saturday** at **1:00PM - 2:00PM PST**
* **Sprint Review Meeting**
* Every **Saturday** at **10:00AM - 11:00AM PST**
* **Tech Fellow Society Meetings**
* To be determined

### A. New Tech Fellows

* Students who are applying as Tech Fellows for the first time.
* Professors who are running the course for the first time.


### B. Returning Tech Fellows

Students and professors who have previously led a CodePath course.
