Everyone but the speaker was showing up as muted
Daniel Ibars to Everyone (10:21 AM)
Sorry if this is not the right forum to ask, but is there any plan to support LTR (Learning to Rank) plugin??
Paul Borgermans to Everyone (10:21 AM)
Would be able to contribute to the PHP clients, but not enough tie for a deep bootstrap in the next weeks
(tie=time)
Daniel Ibars to Everyone (10:22 AM)
Thanks!!
Alberto Paro to Everyone (10:22 AM)
is it this one: https://github.com/o19s/elasticsearch-learning-to-rank?
Henrique Vicente de Oliveira Pinto to Everyone (10:23 AM)
Is there a chat channel somewhere? If I recall correctly there is the Open Distro slack, but the invite link isn’t work.
Eli Fisher to Everyone (10:23 AM)
@Paul Borgermans, for the PHP client contributions mind following up with me after the meeting at elifish@amazon.com?
Alberto Paro to Everyone (10:23 AM)
can we have a discord channel
?
@Henrique - there is an unofficial slack.
Daniel Ibars to Everyone (10:24 AM)
https://elasticsearch-learning-to-rank.readthedocs.io/en/latest/core-concepts.html
Me to Everyone (10:24 AM)
@Henrique: You might want to post in the forum to ask for an invite https://discuss.opendistrocommunity.dev/
@Alberto - No plans for an official one at the moment, but feel free to discuss the pro/cons of sync chat in the forums.
Henrique Vicente de Oliveira Pinto to Everyone (10:26 AM)
Thanks, Kyle. I did so yesterday: https://discuss.opendistrocommunity.dev/t/slack-workspace/4740/7
Me to Everyone (10:26 AM)
Ah!
@Daniel I can work on a LTR port for opendistro
Daniel Ibars to Everyone (10:29 AM)
Awesome!
How can I help?
Jonah Kowall to Everyone (10:31 AM)
I will post a link in that thread today with a perm link
stek0v to Everyone (10:32 AM)
Nice!
David Venable to Everyone (10:34 AM)
Hey Kyle. There are existing abstractions over ElasticSearch clients. One example is Spring Data Elasticsearch, which I have found to be a great tool. They are using classes which are in the “elasticsearch” package, so they won’t be compatible with the new clients. What considerations is the OpenSearch team taking to help authors of these types of abstraction libraries?
Erin Verbeck-Lane to Everyone (10:34 AM)
Can you do aggs queries with this plugin?
Me to Everyone (10:35 AM)
@David - that’s a great question. I don’t think there is plans to make forks of those abstractions but I think it’s a great opportunity to work with those libs to make them more compatible.
Erin Verbeck-Lane to Everyone (10:35 AM)
Are the docs returned in a json format or more of a traditional table? (I haven’t used this plugin ever before, apologies if this is well known)
Alberto Paro to Everyone (10:36 AM)
@David I'm working on a code generator in spare time that maps the ES/OS classes taken by Typescript definition in different languages. It can recreate all the classes and traslate in JSON to have also a strong typed APIs
Alberto Paro to Everyone (10:37 AM)
https://github.com/aparo/opensearch-client-generator
Hasan Asfoor to Everyone (10:41 AM)
Does this support DSL highlights?
David Venable to Everyone (10:41 AM)
@Kyle, I agree that forking these abstractions is not ideal. Is the hope that we the authors of these tools will find the OpenSearch clients a better match and then update their code? Have you considered have both the opensearch and elasticsearch package names?
Erin Verbeck-Lane to Everyone (10:42 AM)
Nice job, Chloe!
Henrique Vicente de Oliveira Pinto to Everyone (10:42 AM)
Talking about clients, here’s one issue I opened a few days ago: https://github.com/opensearch-project/opensearch-go/issues/65
Nice job indeed!
Alberto Paro to Everyone (10:43 AM)
Good job Chlow!
Eli Fisher to Everyone (10:43 AM)
Good job! Thanks Chloe!
Shenoy Pratik to Everyone (10:43 AM)
Nice presentation Chloe :D
Hasan Asfoor to Everyone (10:49 AM)
SQL plugin supports some join Operations, is that something that is planned to be ported to DSL as well?
Is there any developers guides to help us get started contributing to OpenSearch and its plugins?
Daniel Ibars to Everyone (10:51 AM)
Thanks a lot Alberto
Eli Fisher to Everyone (10:51 AM)
@Hasan, yes each repo has a developer guide https://github.com/opensearch-project/OpenSearch/blob/main/DEVELOPER_GUIDE.md
Brian Grabau to Everyone (10:51 AM)
Or any plans to have training offering to get folks up to speed to contribute
Hasan Asfoor to Everyone (10:52 AM)
Also, just for the sake of documentation, will these chats also be captured and shared with the community?
Andrew Hopp to Everyone (10:52 AM)
That's awesome, Alberto!
vemsarat to Everyone (10:52 AM)
@Hasan, adding on to Eli here is a blog post on starting to work with plugins:
https://opensearch.org/blog/technical-posts/2021/06/my-first-steps-in-opensearch-plugins/
Jorge Escamilla to Everyone (10:55 AM)
where could we have the recording of this? I would like to know if we will have LTR support or similar
Paul Borgermans to Everyone (10:57 AM)
Thanks and read/talk again in 2 weeks
Andrew Hopp to Everyone (10:58 AM)
Thanks everyone!
